I Have A Semi Important Question
I have a semi important question
we all remember this iconic moment, right? With Miya calling Joe his dad and Cherry his mom? All I’m saying is Joe ate Cherry up with his eyes right then, and Miya KNEW it And then in this new episode
I know it’s weird because Reki is always with Langa and what have you but istg
Miya has the biggest gaydar on this anime and he’s like 14, this kid has consumed too much queer eye, both Matchablossom AND Langa in the span of two episodes? Miya really said “👀”

Ok but if I may add to this: This is really interesting since in this episode we saw Reki actually make an attempt to go watch ADAM’s tournament in the S. If Reki is a visual learner, then maybe in the future he could be studying JOE, Cherry, ADAM and SNAKE (also Miya and Shadow, but we’ve already seen him studying them before and copy their moves down.) and if somehow he decides to step in and join the tournament skipping the preliminaries, what if he develops as a skater more than Langa but in a different axis? Like, instead of mastering his OWN skills, his skillset becomes a patchwork of other skaters he admires?
This would mean that both Langa and Reki grow as skaters but in a different direction, and with Langa catching feelings and all (which is canon gdi) I feel like this could spark some very interesting developments between the two? I don’t know if this theory has any basis at all but I think it would be really interesting to see something similar happen, at least to a minimal amount
(Also it would be much different if he chose to copy one skater - and I think if he were to choose one, it would be ADAM because obviously antag/protag and also creep who harasses your bf, but either way, if ADAM is the one he copies, then we might get some interesting connections between his nightmares and half-trauma, the promise would also be a topic of conversation again, and maybe we get some more ADAM plot? Idk)
Okay I need to talk about this because like, I think it's important:
The scene where Reki is watching the interview and where the man is talking about how he's now a support and such is very vital. But I don't think it's foreshadowing at all.
I think the scene was meant to display how Reki doesn't want to just be a support, he's talented in creating things, he knows that, but it's not his passion, and I genuinely don't think he'd be happy just being a "support".
The reason he's such a good mechanic for skateboards is because he's a good skater, he can literally break down an entire skateboard move within a single view of it, like THAT is talent, and if he could be able to execute it, he would be unstoppable.
He is not just good at mechanisms and such, he's good at skateboarding, the only issue is that he doesn't have faith in himself and people literally have insulted him to the point where he can't find himself in a good space.
People try to claim that self image doesn't have much to do with it but that's a lie, once you can believe you can do something, you can genuinely execute it so well. And this is coming from my expierence and probably multiple other people's as well.
Self doubt is one of the biggest obsticles when it comes to ANYTHING, whether it's skateboarding or elsewise.
He is good. He is a good skateboarder and a good mechanic. He is *good*. The self doubt is one of the biggest things holding him back from realising that and truly he is good.
He would NOT be happy being just a "support". That is not his passion, making boards isn't his passion, skateboarding in its ENTIRETY is his passion, including the skateboarding itself.
That scene to me was more of a wake up call for Reki to realise that he DOESN'T have to be just a support, because he won't be happy just being support. He doesn't want fame, but he doesn't want to just be in the sidelines. He wants to enjoy himself. Skateboarding is his enjoyment and passion. He would never be happy just being the mechanic.
I really hope that it doesn't end with him being just a support, because that's just so upsetting and feels like a waste of his potential.
UM
WHY IS NO ONE TALKING ABOUT THIS??
HELLO???????
When you first get out into the world, all you do is explore. Maybe gather a bit, make some friends, idle chit chat, gather your first, basic tools and resources. Then the timer dings, and you get your lives.
It starts in the catterpillar stage. When you are arguably in your safest zone. When you're not yet wary. When you can still take time to freely look around and make friends. When allyships are blossoming and friendships are forming. When you don't actively fear when you see someone you don't recognize. Sure, you might not trust, but you do not fear either. When you don't have yet the resources to protect your body. When you're just a newborn in the eyes of the world, almost as newborn as the world itself.
Then the deaths come and the number of lives drops.
You are now on your second to last life. You're wary of your surroundings now. Those who aren't green could be your enemy. You are enclaved in armor, iron or diamond - your own little chrysalis. You have the tools, you have the resources, but you lost the trust. Everyone you see now that you do not recognize might be out for you. They can turn into an enemy in a matter of seconds in order to knock you into the danger zone. You're much more wary of everything - careful of every sound, every fall, every drawn sword, every activity, to make sure you stay in your safety cocoon. But you start gathering regardless. Preparing for the worst possible situation. The inevitable, as some would call it.
Then one death is all it takes.
You have to hatch. You have to come out of your shell. The red on you alerts everyone around you. They lost their trust in you now. Now you are the danger. You are the sword, you are the betrayal, you are a potential catalyst. The red on you alerts everyone of that. Red has become your form of protection now. Much less sturdy than your chrysalis, but like a butterfly's wings to alert and confuse predators. You might not get to live for long after this. But your short lived goal is simple.
You don't need me to tell it to you.
