I've watched all of Grian's Hermitcraft content as well as every Life series. In honor of both finishing watching his Evolution SMP series (which is really good and fun to watch) and the chaos that was today's Double Life episode, I give you Grian
Day 29:
I've been watching a lot of Grian today so I thought I'd draw our local pesky bird once again today.
Day 30 (Crazy right?):

No. Its the local pesky bird.
I speedran this because I'm working on a bigger DSMP piece and my hand started cramping. R.i.p. lol

This song always reminds me of last life/3rd life. Grian's always wanted to create chaos even on green or yellow. Now that he's red life I can't wait to see what he gets up to

ok but for real tho, the connotations of this episode were sad as all hell, can we talk about Grian for a sec?
Mans went from being one of the people with the least lives in the fortress, working on a mob farm with one of his friends, and in a matter of seconds he was exiled
mumbo didn’t even wanna be close to him at first, he was backing away every now and again
they left him his stuff and kicked him out of the place he CREATED WITH them and didnt even wanna call him their friend anymore
and he doesn’t blame them one bit, he forgives and understands them
the only person he’s “friends” with as of right now is joel, the guy who killed him
im sad
When you first get out into the world, all you do is explore. Maybe gather a bit, make some friends, idle chit chat, gather your first, basic tools and resources. Then the timer dings, and you get your lives.
It starts in the catterpillar stage. When you are arguably in your safest zone. When you're not yet wary. When you can still take time to freely look around and make friends. When allyships are blossoming and friendships are forming. When you don't actively fear when you see someone you don't recognize. Sure, you might not trust, but you do not fear either. When you don't have yet the resources to protect your body. When you're just a newborn in the eyes of the world, almost as newborn as the world itself.
Then the deaths come and the number of lives drops.
You are now on your second to last life. You're wary of your surroundings now. Those who aren't green could be your enemy. You are enclaved in armor, iron or diamond - your own little chrysalis. You have the tools, you have the resources, but you lost the trust. Everyone you see now that you do not recognize might be out for you. They can turn into an enemy in a matter of seconds in order to knock you into the danger zone. You're much more wary of everything - careful of every sound, every fall, every drawn sword, every activity, to make sure you stay in your safety cocoon. But you start gathering regardless. Preparing for the worst possible situation. The inevitable, as some would call it.
Then one death is all it takes.
You have to hatch. You have to come out of your shell. The red on you alerts everyone around you. They lost their trust in you now. Now you are the danger. You are the sword, you are the betrayal, you are a potential catalyst. The red on you alerts everyone of that. Red has become your form of protection now. Much less sturdy than your chrysalis, but like a butterfly's wings to alert and confuse predators. You might not get to live for long after this. But your short lived goal is simple.
You don't need me to tell it to you.

Been wanting to cosplay most of Grian Skins and it's slowly getting there! And GOSH I AM LOVING HIS WATCHER! CONCEPT :0

Red Life Grian [Last Life]
spoilers. I don't know if I should keep adding these warnings but I know someone's gonna go read it anyway even if they know and go 'YOU JUST SPOILED IT FOR ME' even though they probably shouldnt even be looking at any posts related to it till they finish it
Just been re-watching Last Life [from Grian's POV], and I just.
Honestly I really like red life Grian, or more specifically 'villain' Grian, like when he did the enchantment table trap in 3rd Life that killed three people.
I don't know if it's just me, but I honestly really like unhinged and deranged characters with nothing to lose because they've already lost it all kinda deal, y'know?
It's why Wilbur is one of my favorites in the Dream SMP, and same for Dream.
And just seeing Grian with Joel as red lives, I just like to imagine that he's.. smiling. Unsettlingly so as he talks to Martyn and Timmy.
Honestly I don't think there's enough of him causing chaos and being a bit of a sadist, y'know? I mean I love Businessman Scar who swindles everyone out of their valuables, and I'm not sure who doesn't, but then there's Grian who I think plays the villain really well (bonus points if there's one with unhinged Grian and [Totally not a] Scammer Scar as a duo, though technically there was that in 3rd Life as Desert Duo Alliance, I kinda crave more.)
Maybe I'm looking in the wrong places for that kind of Grian, but so uh.. yeah.
I do still like though that he has some sort of still care for those who once allied with him and had done him no wrong though, as that's kind of a plus.
It reminds me a little of Technoblade's whole thing with if people are kind to him he repays it tenfold, (aka Grian not going after those who were with him), and those that hurt him or his friends will have that injustice repayed a thousand times over. (cough cough. the book. [cough cough. scar. bdubs.])
