Fucked up theory.
So, Dazai and Atsushi are the main characters in the anime/manga. Akutagawa is chasing Dazai's recognition.
ALTHOUGH IN THE BIOGRAPHIES OF THE WRITERS EVERYTHING IS SOMETHING DIFFERENT: The writer Dazai Osamu greatly delighted Akutagawa Ryunosuke in his school years. When Ryunosuke committed suicide, Dazai became depressed, causing him to not concentrate on his lessons. This means that in the anime, the main character should have been Akutagawa according to logic, BUT this idea can be refuted: in the book No Human Longer the main character Yodzo (the prototype of the writer himself - Dazai Osamu) talked with his old friend about antonyms and synonyms. When it came to Crime and Punishment, Yodzo thought that the author, Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoevsky, put them as antonyms (opposite things). IN THE MOVIE THE DEAD APPLE, Fyodor Dostoevsky said, “I am a crime, I am a punishment, did you know that? Crime and Punishment BEST FRIENDS.” And in Russian dub he said, “I am a crime, I am a punishment, did you know that? Crime and Punishment ARE EQUALLY SAME.”
Apparently, Asagiri Kafka decided to cast Fyodor's main enemy as Dazai. And Dazai would try to refute Dostoevsky’s lies about his ability.

Fyodor, Nikolai, WTF??

I just was bored and I made this. (Who the fuck know that girl, I just drew her from imagination.)
Fyolai
Don't you think that it's somehow strange that Gogol is Ukrainian and in the English dub he speaks normally. Fyodor is Russian and speaks with an accent that fucks my ears every day.
Spoilers/theory/new bsd chapter.
Wait… We've all read the new chapter, haven't we? When Dazai and Chuuya went to look for Fyodor's corpse, Nikolai was not there; maybe he's up to something? What if he knew that Fyodor could move into his body? Nikolai could come up with a way to resurrect him; thereby giving him his body. Perhaps Nikolai will remain imprisoned in his own mind, still feeling emotions but not his body… The shackles may keep him as long as Fyodor is in his body. Will Nikolai be happy and can this happen in the new chapter?
