Thinking About This Line From Gideon's Letter:
thinking about this line from gideon's letter:

yes, he's speaking broadly hereāimmediately after we see this woman walking, it cuts to zoomed in images of bodies. that's obvious.
but i think he's also talking about reid, especially because the letter is addressed to him. reid, whose death he literally did see. he means "i cant look at strangers without picturing their death and that's why i cant do this job anymore" but he also means "i cant look at you without picturing you seizing on a filthy floor and thats why i cant work with you anymore"

I was going through some of my old reading journals on the storygraph, and when I was going through the one I had for the starless sea by erin morgenstern (possibly my favourite novel of all time) I came across this quote iād written down:
They peel off each other's clothes in layers. He curses at the strange clasps and fasteners on her garments while she laughs at the sheer numbers of buttons on his. [ā¦] It is easier to be in love in a room with closed doors. To have the whole world in one room. In one person. The universe condensed and intensified and burning, bright and alive and electric. But doors cannot stay closed forever.
and if I said spencelleā¦
the contrast between emily and reid in 2x17 and 3x03 has me on the floor.

he listens this time. he doesn't get too defensive, (just normal reid defensive. baby steps). and then we have emily bringing up his dad, specifically information that we haven't heard before (that he's blocked out most of his memories of him), which implies that reid has opened up to her about it offscreen. to me, that also suggests it was in a way he hasn't with the rest of the team.
(if i had to guess at how that went down: sometime post 2x18 reid apologised to emily for the way he treated her, and brought up his abandonment issues as being part of the reason. then either one thing led to another and he was opening up about it, or emily asked him about it later and he told her, maybe because he felt like he owed her honesty after reacting to her concern with such hostility)
this probably isnt very coherent and i might come back to it later but the development of their friendship is so so important to me.
hey do you ever think that the reason reid knocks "shave and a haircut" on elle's door is because post-fisher king elle gets nervous when someone knocks on her door because she doesn't know who it is, so reid (or even the whole team) start knocking a pattern. do you ever think about elle checking the peephole anyway. i do.
look at his gay little car lmfao

the conversation around haley and hotchās relationship is too much āhe/she was a bad spouseā and not enough āthey were two people who loved each other very much but grew to be two different people who wanted different thingsā
