Rant
I hate how tumblr has to make everything such an “us and them” situation. Like, there’s literally nothing inherently wrong with cis people, or straight people, or white people, or men. I can’t believe I really have to say this.
No one is inherently evil.
Cis people can be transphobic. Trans people can be cisphobic. Straight people can be homophobic. Gay people can be heterophobic. White people can be racist. Minorities can be racist. Men can be sexist. Women can be sexist.
No one is inherently evil.
Being LGBT+ doesn’t and will never make you incapable of hate or prejudice. Never. It's not about privilege. It’s not about oppression. It about being hateful towards someone because of who they are. When you want to spread harassment and violence like a plague against people you don’t like because they fit into a category you deem inherently evil, it is never, ever justified.
No one is inherently evil.
If someone is being transphobic or homophobic or racist or sexist, you have every right to call them out and try and change their mind, no matter what you identify as. Respectfully. But violence and harassment have never changed anyone’s mind for the better.
No one is inherently evil.
That being said, people can change. Support their change. Teach them about your perspective, your opinions, your morals. I’ve changed for the better in such a big way in the past few years. It takes exposure to other viewpoints and lots of self-reflection. But it’s very possible.
No. One. Is. Inherently. Evil.
Hatred can come from anyone. It’s an emotion in collaboration with an opinion. That isn’t exclusive to anyone. But violence and harassment can’t, won’t and will never fix anything.
I’ll say it again for the people in the back:
No! One! Is! Inherently! Evil!
