NEW ALIEN

I call them Ocira. They're a sort of combination of seals and octopus. They're pseudo-eusocial and very kind

That wrinkly thing on their chest are their gills, which they can use to express certain emotions.

Their "teeth" are truly spines that can be raised to eat meat, or flattened to chomp plants.

To communicate, they do a sort of drumming and pinching of their swim bladders for different tones and squeaks.

They live on an ocean planet, in shallow, warm waters around reefs.

I might draw them more and tell more about them 😸

some quick facts:

they're nocturnal and tend to roam around while awake.

they have keen senses of smell and hearing, but terrible eyesight. despite this, they also have a tapetum lucidum, making their pupils "glow" in the dark.

their fur is short, dense, and oily to waterproof them.

they prefer a diet of mostly meat and are attracted to strong-smelling food like fish, cheese, and anything fermented.

they grow to an average of 1m and 23kg (3ft and 50lb) but can reach up to double that length and triple the weight!

My fave Hellsing character is Doc and Millennium in lesser state. Also very big fan of Mina Harker and parent of bunch of background characters.

Probably unpopular opinion, but they could not stretch Florence arc for 7 FUCKING EPISODES. Like, they could fit it all in 3 episodes, maximum 4. My friend and I were literally sitting and thinking "Can you already got to the plot, no?". Like, they manage to make the series eventful before, what was their problem now??? We could get a bigger opening for Great Red Dragon arc. OR we could get episodes about how Hannibal's trial was going! How Chilton writes a book! How Alana and Margot living! How Will lived got married, god dammit!

I'm going to take this as a sign that Hellsing tumblr is ready for my unhinged autistic special interest in both engineering and Hellsing, so here we are I'm doing this.

WHY THE DEUS EX IS GENUINELY THE MOST UNNATURAL THING IN THIS FUCKING SERIES

So millennium, the battalion uses three airships, the first two can't remember the name of them, haven't seen the inside, only time we see the inside is in episode 6 with Zorin.only thing I will say is the control room is way too big compared to how compact they were irl, for reason we will get into later.

But the real star of the airship affair is the Deus Ex, you know the big red and black one that looks cool, if you don't remember the name of it that's fine I couldn't for a while. Here's some production images of it to get you interested.

Now one huge thing I'm going to point out is that no, they would not be able to fit that many people on board, airships irl have to have a limited capacity to fly, and around 1930-1940 they all used hydrogen gas to float (keep this in mind for something later) if I had to guess the Deus Ex would logically only be able to fit around 400-500 people based on how big it actually is (it's actually larger than any airship from the shots I see) and the two smaller ones would carry around 100 people since they match the size of normal air ships. But somehow over 1000 people could fit on this thing which alright fine maybe my calculations were off.

Now remember how I mentioned that weight is important for these things? And that they have to have limited capacity to fly?

Now important thing to add the balloons at the top are the main thing that make it fly, they fill it with gas and have workers go up there to check wait why the fuck are there rooms in the balloon-

….you know what I'm going to look past that, it's not like anything else makes sense here….

Finally I'm going to talk about the Hindenburg disaster, the Hindenburg was a German airship around the 1940’s and had been flying for a year before, after being struck by lightning while trying to pull a risky landing, the whole thing caught fire. It took the Hindenburg only 15 seconds to be completely consumed in flames, because of the hydrogen gas, while it did make flying more effective it's also an extremely flammable gas.

Why do I bring this up? It's a good chance all the airships in Hellsing are using hydrogen gas.

So how the fuck did Seras and Hans blowing up a war head in the cargo hold not fucking kill everyone on board?

They should have all died, point blank, but we live by Hirano’s rules so only Seras and Integra get to live.

Essentially if anyone was somehow afraid of Hellsing becoming real, don't be, Major’s paradoxical powers of somehow making the Deus even lift off the ground would be no match for our natural order.
