ok, i've been thinking about this.

so a while ago I saw this post by the legendary @kaypeace21 where she talks about how the word "bullshit" has been used to describe dysfunctional relationships in stranger things...

Nancy to Steve in s2, saying she doesn't love him and that it's all "bullshit." Later, the two break up because of this loveless, superficial relationship. Kaypeace21 draws the parallel between stancy and mileven, when Dustin calls mileven's relationship "bullshit." (Kaypeace made the image down below, i took a screenshot of it is that ok??? i don't even know sorry if it's not, all credit goes to her. I didn't reblog her post because it was really long and I just wanted to isolate this idk)

But, also in season 3, we see Mike make this statement about El spying on him after their break-up:

Now, when I first saw this scene obviously I thought it was really funny, but there was also something that felt.. I guess, out of place about it. Like, it's not a typical joke that you hear in your average stranger things episode haha. But then I thought about it and how it stuck out, and how it tied back in to all this "bullshit" talk. Characters refer to bad relationships and generally non-genuine things as "bullshit" "shit" or "stupid" so... I know this is really weird but,

Guys.... I think this might have been Mike's coded way of saying he was afraid that El would find out their relationship is, in fact, actually bullshit. He doesn't want her to know what he was thinking/feeling. He doesn't want her to know that he sat on his couch, lazily complaining, asking how in the world it could possibly be his fault she's mad at him, saying things that downplayed her feelings because she's a girl. That's not what you do when you really love someone, especially if you're Mike Wheeler. We've seen his potential for caring for people, just in all the times he desperately searched for, apologized to, and comforted Will.

And ON TOP of that, later on in season 3 when he's admitting his love for her to the rest of the group, she's in the BATHROOM. Then when she comes out and asks what's happening, he acts all terrified like he didn't just say anything important. Almost like he was afraid, yet again, that she would find out he's lying. One more connection to establish this is that when she's in the bathroom with Max earlier, he is afraid she is "conspiring against him." It was all played off as very humorous, but it shows that in general when she's in the bathroom, he's afraid she's listening to him spill bullshit out of his mouth. .. also... he calls her a spy, and in s2 he calls Will a spy, but that time it's fondly... a spy against the mindflayer, aka the bad guy. I think he's insecure about his lying, and doesn't want El to see him as the bad guy and conspire against him for it as the "spy".

Just a theory, idk if this is true, idk if the writers will make byler endgame, but it's just got me thinking ...

Stranger Things Questions I Have

Idk what else to make my first post so here's this:

My Questions for Stranger Things:

Why could Max enter Vecna's mind? Why did Vecna call her "the chosen one" (through Lucas in Vol 2)?

How did El know Will in s1? Did she see him in the void during her time with Brenner pre-escape?

People with psychic powers are automatically connected to the Upside Down-- but why, and how? Did Henry draw his dark power from the upside down somehow? Why did El defeating him (the first time, in Brenner's lab) end with him going to the upside down, why couldn't she just kill him? Was El's banishing of 001 the first time a connection between the Upside Down and the real world was made outside the void, or even at all?

Does this really all start with Vecna? We know the Upside Down existed long before... how can we be sure no one else ever had powers or established a connection with the upside down before his existence/being discovered by Brenner?

Does the 3-headed dragon in Will's painting somehow actually exist? What other monsters can be created from the dust that Vecna bent into the Mindflayer?

How did Will survive the upside down?

Does Will have powers? If so, will Will have any ability to control Vecna's mind or an UD monster in s5?

How much of Will's true feelings could Mike pick up on in season 4? Aka how oblivious can this guy get? lol

How much does Will realllly know?? Probably more than he's letting on....

Can El, or any other character, time travel? It seems like throughout the seasons, there are more and more discussions about time in relation to the upside down... I'll make another post about that lol.

But yeah we see her literally reverse a death in s4 vol 2, and she seems stronger than ever, so what does that mean for her future powers in s5? More revivals? Undoing of past actions? Will she have to sacrifice anything in order to keep people alive? because she didn't seem to sacrifice anything in order to revive Max.

Who is El's biological father?

Was it really just a demogorgon that got Will in s1? I know people have pointed out that during the scene where first he gets captured, there is a bunch of evidence that Vecna was involved, from the fact that Will wasn't bleeding, to the Vecna-like silhouette of the figure, to its slow movements, to its telekinetic manipulation of the door lock, to its selective target of Will (not even Will's dog that was in his house with him), to the fact that they never showed a demogorgon, to the fact that it didn't kill Will! EVERY other one of the demogorgon's victims died pretty much on the spot. Some say it's a demogorgon controlled by Vecna.

This leads to my next question, which is that if Vecna somehow did make Will the chosen one... why? Why was he kept in the Upside Down, just rotting away, on the verge of death by the time when he was saved? Was it so that he could be infected by the Mindflayer (through the vine in his mouth)? What was happening in that time other than him being scared, singing, and trying to find a way out through the walls in his house? And why was the Byers house the only house to have demogorgons literally living in its walls?! Idk... maybe Will was just a good target since he might have been the first person to pass by the Hawkins lab after the demogorgon escaped.

Does Mike really love El romantically? Or does he just really idolize her?

Is it possible for people who were killed by UD monsters to be brought back in some form? Are Billy, Eddie, and/or Vecna's 3 victims of s4 somehow stored in Vecna's mind, or the UD somehow?

The Cool Significance of Will Byers's Birthday in Terms of Astrology

Will's birthday is about fire, water, beginnings, endings, and the in-betweens. Stick with me on this one if you're interested lol...

Will's birthday as of now is canonically March 22nd.  Side Note - This is around the Spring Equinox, the beginning of spring (which is March 20th or 21st depending on where you are). 

It is also the second astrological day of the Aries season on the Zodiac wheel. 

This is cool because Aries, which is a fire sign, marks the BEGINNING of the ENTIRE zodiac wheel as the first sign. In astrology Aries is described as embodying the essence of initiation, sparks, ignition, spontaneity, strength, courage and action. 

However, March 22nd is very close to the pisces season since it is two days after the Pisces season ends.  Pisces is the END of the zodiac wheel.  It is the last sign, as opposed to the first sign Aries, but because this is a circular cycle like the calendar year, Pisces and Aries are right next to each other. Many astrologers would consider March 22nd the CUSP between Pisces and Aries (although some would only consider March 20th or 21st the technical cusp dates). I talk about the significance of this below this image from Britannica.

So knowing that Will is on the cusp and therefore is connected to both of these signs, let's talk about Pisces traits as well.

Pisces is very different from Aries in most ways, they're almost opposites despite being right next to each other.  Pisces, a water sign, is known for its connection to the mystic and spiritual world, its all-encompassing and universal essence.  It is associated with sensitivity, emotions, wisdom, empathy, passiveness, compassion, and art (pisces tend to be said to be good artists).  Aries is often referred to as the symbolically "youngest" of the zodiac, fresh and inspired, with masculine energy, and pisces the "oldest" with feminine energy.  According to astrology, Will being born on the cusp means that he would likely take characteristics from both these signs, but at heart he will be an Aries. 

I just find that interesting.  Also, they are represented by fire and water, which is cool because water is known to be THE connection to the upside down, and the void that El goes into is dark, watery, and looks like outer space (pisces is associated with space/the universe). Whereas Fire is the thing that DEFEATS the upside down creatures, and there have been some connections between Will and fire, the most obvious one being that Will the Wise, his DnD character, has fire powers.  He is also associated with light.  There are several times when the light very obviously is shining on him in an intentionally dramatic way. 

Also since he's the cusp, it's almost like the place between the upside down and the real world... caught in between slides of a viewfinder, if you will. Caught between the beginning and the end, the ancient and the new, between the wise/old and the young/innocent/naive. Just interesting...

Also thinking of the quote "beginning of the end"... hmmm...

(((I also find it interesting that he's so close to being a Pisces. I don't know how much thought the writers put into this or even if this is all a coincidence. But I feel like according to astrology it would make more sense for him to be a Pisces given his very passive and selfless personality and his connection to the supernatural and art, like that's literally a textbook pisces for you. But no, he's born with the sign of the strong-headed, strong-willed, courageous, certain, action-taking, direct, blunt, confident Aries. It shows that despite his passive personality, he ULTIMATELY is a courageous being who never backs down, the essence of Aries. Also, he's so close to being a water sign, but by a few switches perhaps of fate, he ended up being born a couple days later with a fire sign, the first-born sign of the wheel... this shows in the end, maybe he will find his inner fire or use fire powers in some way. The world wants him to succumb to the upside down, let the water engulf and suffocate him, but he will still choose fire, choose to fight.)))

THIS IS AMAZING and I completely agree!!!! Like it's pretty clear will knows some shit that he's not telling us and it makes sense it would be this!! Also I've been thinking of the phrase "the week is long" from the Russian code in season 3 and you got me thinking.. Will was gone for a week in the upside down, but what if it felt longer, either because of extreme life changing events that happened with vecna in there , or maybe, just maybe, there was some sort of a time warp for him during what everyone else perceived to only be a week. Oh! And maybe he survived because he was "treading lightly." Idk but this post is amazing and you're not crazy I think the duffers would want their fans to speculate like this lol😂

You know, I've been thinking about how they never really showed us what Will went through in the Upside Down and they never really showed us him talking about his time in there. He talked about his "episodes" after be got back, but not about what actually happened to him while he was in the Upside Down and I got to thinking...what if he doesn't remember the majority of his time in the Upside Down??

What if it's like a similar thing that happened with El and her time in the lab. She went through something so traumatic she repressed those memories and even changed the reality of what happened in her mind and she had to have help to remember what actually happened. What if something HUGE happened in the Upside Down with Will and he just doesn't remember it because he is repressing those memories...you know because of trauma. Like what if it has something to do with him potentially having powers or him actually speaking to Vecna when he was there or something like that??

Idk I just feel like they're hiding something from us about what went down in the Upside Down when Will was there. We barely know ANYTHING about what happened to him or why it's stuck on the day he went missing or how he managed to survive or why Vecna even targeted him to begin with and why Vecna didn't just KILL HIM in season one. It would have been really easy for him. There is also just a lot revolving around Will and the weird things he was able to do to interact with the real world and the lab's, especially Brenner's, fascination with him in season one that have never been explained or just elaborated on a little bit. We also don't know how El was able to recognize Will when the two of them had supposedly never met.

There is something they're hiding about the week Will was in the Upside Down and maybe even stuff about Will before the Upside Down. I can just feel it. Call me delusional idc, but I just feel like a lot of mind blowing shit will be revealed about Will and the Upside Down in season five in a similar style to how El and the lab was revealed in season four. Will is gonna be relearning everything that happened while we are learning it for the first time.
