Sometimes we come across patients who forever alter the way we practice as nurses; The very first patient who coded on our watch, the first patient who expired, or the first who survived a cardiac arrest - defied all odds to be subsequently discharged home. The very first patient who challenged our knowledge, or beliefs; prompting us to learn more, or take a stand - whether it was about our own confidence, values, or perhaps gain a deeper insight into our deepest fears.
