Today Was Such A Beautiful Day With The Sun Out And I Can't Wait For Spring To Fully Come!! I'm Trying

Today was such a beautiful day with the sun out and I can't wait for spring to fully come!! I'm trying to not spend money on coffee even though I am a sucker for coffee shops - hence the homemade coffee. Also how cute is my little cat sticker on my desk lamp <3 On today's agenda, I went through an assignment we have to turn in to take the math exam later in May, and I wanted to check it out (for the tenth time...) before turning it in. I hope you have a beautiful day MJAU.

saturday june 10th - exam week 2

winter has arrived on campus, and in typical melburnian fashion so has the puffer jackets.

plan for this week is to study for my upcoming database exam. I have one week left and a semesters worth of content to get through. pain.

🎧 on repeat: Please Be Angry - Pierz Barry

Plan for exam revision:

Go over the content

Make notes on the content, making sure to include an index for each topic

Do the practise and weekly quizzes

Go over the lab and tutorial material

Do the practise exams

Mark the exams and highlight areas of weakness

Review and practise those areas

So far this is the go to plan on starting revision. Let's hope I stick to it! Plus this is my first study blr post! Mostly doing this to keep track of my studies!

tuesday 20th june - post exam

best part of the day was getting free mandarins outside of my exam venue. mandarins on a cold day? peak.

the plan I had for this week didn't work. at all. I spent majority of last week procrastinating and this week making notes. I really underestimated the amount of notes i had to make for this subject, wrote a total of 30k works in a week. it's the most i have written ever, really got me wondering how the people on ao3 do it so well.

currently playing: daisies by roe kapara and indy june

Things to do during break:

REST!!

Hang out with friends!!

Volunteer as Mentor - Thursday 22th june

Organise next week's event

Prepare Run Melbourne Volunteer list

Make class time table for next semester

Edit CV

Find and apply for internships

Find a good part time job

Work on python and other coding projects

Start learning C

Improve SQL and python pandas

Meet up with mentors + make a list of things to ask them

Make notion for next semester!! (The best part of the semester!! I love making a new notion page for each uni semester)

So far this is the plan. I'm sure there'll be more I have a do and even more that I won't get around to do. But this break I really want to prioritise my rest and hobbies, and time with my family and friends!

2nd studyblr post!!

05/05

I didn't do much today in terms of productivity. My brother rudely awakened me a couple of hours after I fell asleep by singing Christmas carols for some reason, then there was a family lunch and afterwards I was so exhausted I fell asleep and woke up really late.

I listened to the playlist above to not get bored while reading and it helped a lot so I'm sharing it.

🌻 self-care 🌻

- water (>2.5lt)

- took vitamins (1/2)

🪐 other 🪐

- reading ARCs ( finished the one I was reading, started another one) (3h55min)

Getting back on track after a slump

Getting Back On Track After A Slump
Getting Back On Track After A Slump

Life is non-linear as it turns out. Sometimes you're doing great and then all of a sudden you're completely thrown off and are struggling to get up.

It happens to pretty much everyone, and even though you can't really prevent a slump from happening, you can use this advice to help you get back on track

Make a list of what you have to do Sit down, make yourself some tea or coffee and just start writing what you need to do. Missed a deadline with that unfinished paper? Write it down, add a sub-bullet to ask for an extension/send an email explaining your circumstances to your professor/teacher (they're also human, chances are if you notify and explain the situation to them, they will do their best to help you).

Break down those tasks into sub-tasks. By simplifying and breaking down your tasks into smaller chunks you're not only making it easier to do them, but you're also helping yourself get rid of some anxieties or fears since that task now looks much easier and more manageable to accomplish.

Update or create a new routine. Whether your routine contributed towards this slump or not, its always good to update your routine as you grow and change. What may have worked then may not necessarily be appropriate or helpful now. We humans are creatures of change, it's only natural that we outgrow our past.

Take it slow when easing back into your routine. Going too fast can actually be counter-productive, because you should be naturally aligning yourself with it and not forcing yourself into something you're not completely ready to follow. Trying to overcompensate generally isn't a good idea, as putting extra pressure on yourself especially when you're just trying to get everything sorted may not end very well.

Write down your goals and dreams to help you get motivated. It may seem difficult and at times pointless to try and get back on track, and reminding yourself about your goals and aims can definitely encourage you to take the steps to getting back on track or starting over.

Talk to someone about what you're feeling and going through. Your school or uni have counselors and people who can help you get through this if you require help. You don't necessarily have to jump straight into it, just start with a friendly email briefly explaining the situation and go from there.
