you know, Shidou isn't the type to hesitate or listen to other people, especially when he's in fight mode.

the fact that he hesitates here without Sae having to grab him or yell at him or anything is so intriguing.

like I understand why he listens to Sae afterwards, because he respects Sae as a player and he said the exact right thing but why did he even stop at all?

he's violent and aggressive and loud. other people have to shout at him to be heard or taze him.

my theory is that Shidou has never been chosen by anyone before. maybe by Ego for this project, sure, but remember that Ego had just locked him up for his bad behavior. he was chosen, but no one was defending him once he arrived.

but Sae?

Sae released him from the beginning. Sae was in his corner. He wasn't going to play the match at all, unless he could play with Shidou. Sae also never tried to restrict him before that. He didn't even stop him from beating up Sendou.

Maybe Shidou listened to him in this moment because Sae was literally going to leave, and only chose to stay, because Aiku let Shidou join the team.
