“San Lang…”
Hua Cheng jolted awake. In his arms, Xie Lian stirred and mumbled his name.
Xie Lian has a nightmare. Hua Cheng helps him through it.
This is my first time writing Hualian, I really hope I did them justice because they mean so much to me. For some reason I chose to write from Hua Cheng’s pov even though I relate more to Xie Lian but. I challenged myself I guess. He’s lovely to write in any case though.
Shoutout to @qifreyplushie for rambling with me the other day which is what gave me the inspiration for this fic (and it was also so fun, you’re welcome to ramble about hua cheng with me anytime). seriously, i have such a hard time coming up with plots and structures and the rambling allowed me to get the thoughts out of my brain enough to build a fic, so thank you fr <3

Hope everyones having a great prideee monthhhh

Imagine if Xie Lian made friends with whatever demonic street dogs roam Ghost City

There's iridescent medium on the lanterns and Xie Lian for that heavenly aura, and silver ink on Hua Cheng and the butterflies

Mu Qing always took long baths. The Heaven’s always said it’s befitting of the man, so cynical and self absorbent, of course he would take pleasure in soaking in a long bath rather than attending to his duties as a God.
He would soak in the warm soapy water, the faint fragrance of fresh cherries filling the air of his Palace’s bath.
But the smell was never quite right, always too strong, too luxurious, too sweet. It would attack his senses relentlessly, a bitter reminder of what was lost.
But only here when he’d close his eyes, only here when he would hum to himself a long forgotten song of Xianle, only here would be be able to forget himself.
Only here, in the warm embrace of the baths water, would he be able to remember what it felt to be held.
Only here, in the empty, echoey chamber of his bath, would he remember how it felt to be seen.
He hadn’t felt the squeeze of his mother for over 800 years, slowly forgetting her warmth, her scent — her love.
Only here, could he imagine what it felt like to be loved again.
shoutout to mei nianqing for accepting jun wu's war crimes and atrocities but despising mu qing for being a peasant. not even this dude's priorities are straight wow
One of the most tragic aspects of Wei Yings story to me is the fact that he DID ask for help. He asked for an option he could pick that would still safeguard the Remnants which is all he wanted. He didn't want to be separated from the people he loved. He didn't want to live isolated from the world. Hated for something he had no choice but to choose.
He asked Lan Zhan. The most reasonable person he knew. The person who actually saw the Remnants for the innocent people that they were. The person who was kind enough to buy toys for a little boy and let him cling to his leg even though he disliked being touched. He asked. He wanted another option. Desperately so.
There was none. He knew it. Lan Zhan knew it. By that point even Lan Zhan wasn't selfish enough to ask Wei Ying to follow him to Gusu and leave the Remnants defenseless. Because he himself knew the Lans for all their righteousness would have never accepted them either.
Rating: Mature | Pairing: Feng Xin/Mu Qing | Chapter: 1/3 | Words: 8.3k
Summary:
It was all Feng Xin’s fault. It was all his own damn fucking fault. If he had noticed the ghost’s hidden knife sooner. If he had acted quicker. If he hadn’t distracted Mu Qing by shouting. If he had flung himself in front of Mu Qing so the knife would plunge in his own chest. If he had realised the gravity of the injury faster, perhaps he could have… Could he have? * When a mission goes wrong and Mu Qing dies, Feng Xin searches for the ghost that is supposed to come haunt him.
