Am I the only one who can't help but picture a star trek "au" for iswm that doesn't feel like it's really an au because everything's pretty much exactly the same, except the Invincible ll functions more like the Starship Enterprise?

Like instead of the cryopods, both the colonists and crew have their own living quarters. There are areas like the recreation deck/room and the holodecks. Multiple crew members can have the same positions but different ranks based off their place in the chain of command, so you could have Head Engineer Mack without the universe tarring itself apart. (I think anyway) Maybe after getting the colonists settled in on the planet you get a new mission from home base to "seek out new life and new civilizations" and "boldly go where no man has gone before" or something, who's to say?

Idk. I grew up with Next Generation. Maybe the idea of a self-insert slice of life space adventure is just naturally appealing to me.
