Reading the lives of many of the saints, some of them seem almost inhuman. That’s why I’m glad there’s a saint like Joseph of Cupertino, who is known, among other things, for being kind of a dumbass.
He frequently forgot what he was told to do, dropped piles of dishes, found exams “difficult and stressful,” and was generally regarded as “remarkably unclever.” He passed his seminary exams by miraculously only being asked questions he knew. He’s the patron saint of students sitting exams and people with learning disabilities (also pilots, because he was prone to levitation).
“O Great St. Joseph of Cupertino who while on earth did obtain from God the grace to be asked at your examination only the questions you knew, obtain for me a like favour in the examinations for which I am now preparing.”

there used to be gods in this cornfield. they’ve since vacated, but should you ask them a question politely enough, you might get an echo of an answer in return. don’t bother with the wheat field- whatever lives between those stalks isn’t as kind and does not leave so easily.
the barn door is a mouth; there are teeth concealed in those rosy wooden frames. the voice calling you inside is not a friend. do not listen to them.
DO NOT ENTER THE WHITE METAL SHED.
if you blink only to open your eyes in a silo, do not struggle. the grain will just swallow you faster.
avoid the yellow patch of grass in front of the farmhouse door. take good care not to step on it. it will show you dead things, ancient things, things you were never meant to see. you won’t come back the same.

the crows will try to speak to you in a language long-dead. just nod respectfully, and hope their desperate calls aren’t warnings.
keep the scarecrow in your eye-line at all times, for it will move behind your back. don’t give it the opportunity to creep up on you. you won’t like what happens when it catches you.

So you know how ghosts are people that didn’t pass on correctly?
Consider this.
Ghosts that are ghosts because they weren’t given proper burials.
Being given a proper burial is a super important thing in like every culture throughout history. The one I’m thinking about the most right now is how ancient Greeks would be buried with coins on their eyes or in their mouth so they could pay the ferryman to take them into the afterlife.
Hell, in also Greek mythology it’s said that the spirits of the dead would come back to haunt the living if they weren’t given a proper burial.
So imagine a ghost whose whole obsession is being buried properly and being given the proper care that it deserves in death because it wasn’t given a proper burial.
