âi think he knows
pairing: anthony lockwood x fem!reader
summary: reader has to admit her true feelings for lockwood after her heartbeat goes through the roof at his touch
warnings: mentions of blood and vomiting
note: i extended it a bit, i just can't help it, hope that was alright :)
prompts: in bold
you were sitting on the couch in portland row, your book laying on your legs, as your fingers hammered an unsteady rhythm onto the surface.
you tried concentrating on the words you were reading, you really did, but the nerves held you in a chokehold.
âokayâ lockwood, who was sitting in his usual seat, closed the magazine he had been reading âwhat is bothering you?â
ânothingâ you muttered, hiding from his eyes.
he stood up and sat down next to you. âwell, it must be somethingâ he took your book from you legs and pointed at the little folded corner. âyou started reading twenty minutes ago and havenât even turned the pageâ
there was nothing you could say against that. you hadnât even noticed it had been that long, different thoughts ghosting through your mind
âokayâ you finally breathed âbut itâs embarrassingâ
âitâs just me, you can tell meâ he encouraged you smiling. you smiled back at him and nodded
âi have to get my blood work done later today and iâm - iâm scaredâ
âthatâs not even embarrassingâ lockwood smiled âa lot of people canât see bloodâ
âyeahâ you shrugged âbut itâs so much worse. when i see blood, i have to throw up, the smell- itâs just overwhelmingâ
âyou can smell blood?â
âyou canât?â
he shrugged âat least that explains why you always look so disgusted when i had a wound from the job, i had feared it was my faceâ
âitâs not your faceâ you grinned, shaking your head âitâs just so disgustingâ
âthe blood, right?â lockwood laughed
âyeahâ you smiled âwould you mind coming with me? i think that would help a lotâ
âas long as you donât throw up all over me, iâm willing to sit beside you and hold your handâ
âthank youâ you smiled and squeezed his hand
âif it helps you can look at my face while itâs happeningâ
âas long as you donât suddenly bleed in that area, that would be amazingâ
âiâll try my bestâ he laughed and stood up, collecting his coat from off the couch
âhey, lockwood?â
âyeah?â
âthank you for noticing, i mightâve not told you otherwiseâ
âof course. you know that i care about you, right?â
âi care about you too. and if you ever need something, please let me knowâ
âi could use some help with cleaning blood off my face after jobsâ
âyeah, not happeningâ you slapped his arm and walked out of the room to grab your coat. lockwood followed you
âi heard confrontation was the best therapy, we could start with your eyes closed and slowly open them bit for bitâ
âiâm not cleaning blood off your face, lockwoodâ
âbut lucy wonât do it eitherâ
âwonder whyâ
lockwood laughed and followed you outside, closing the door behind you both
âhow about hypnosis?â
you threw him a deadpanned look.
âalright i get it, not happeningâ
you just rolled your eyes and laughed, totally having forgotten how nervous you were.
Lockwood was sitting right next to you, when the nurse began to get you ready.
"how are you feeling?" he asked softly, you send him a look that told him everything he needed to know. "okay" he breathed, laughing
"this thing" the nurse held up a little device "will measure your pulse and it will make a sound if it's too high, or too low" she connected the device and it began to beep slowly. calming you down, as you noticed how relaxed your heart was beating.
the next thing you knew, the procedure had started. you took a quick look to the right, but quickly looked back at Lockwood, scrunching your face in disgust.
Lockwood smiled at the funny face you were doing, before his hand took yours. surprise entered your face and you stopped concentrating on your blood and the smell of it and rather on him.
the device began to beep quicker.
"everything, alright?" the nurse asked from beside you
"yeah" you looked at the friendly woman and your heartbeat calmed, then your eyes returned back to Lockwood and it picked up it's pace.
"that is weird" the woman watched the device closely
"maybe it's broken?" Lockwood suggested, squeezing your hand in comfort. your heartbeat picked up again. the nurse raised her eyes to look at the boy, then back at you.
"oh, that's a rather common disease" she laughed
"oh?" you repeated scared "am i gonna die?"
"no" she shook her head, still laughing
you looked at Anthony in confusion. he was smiling and you didn't understand a thing.
"Lockwood?" you asked scared "what is wrong with me?"
now Lockwood had to laugh too, him and the nurse syncing. "nothing, love, absolutely nothing is wrong with you"
"i suggest that for the rest of the procedure, you two let go of each other. keep your eyes on me, ms l/n"
"s-sure" you said, still confused
"this really never happened before" the nurse smiled in Lockwood's direction. "don't look at him" she scolded, as your eyes were ready to wander back to his form "look at me, dear"
"why are you laughing?" Lockwood walked next to you on the way back home, and he was giggling and nearly jumping in the air from excitement. "what did she mean, earlier?"
Lockwood stopped walking and looked at you "you don't know?"
"obviously i don't"
"oh, okay" he breathed "well. i think she suggested that your heartbeat picked up, anytime i touched you or you looked at me"
"bullshit" you shook your head "why would it? it's not like i'm scared of you"
"yeah, that's not quite the word i would use either" he stepped closer, pointing at your wrist "may i?"
you shrugged your shoulders, unsure what he would do next. "go ahead"
his hand went to your wrist and rested on your pulse. then his other hand pulled a strand of hair behind your ear. you could feel your pulse pick up and so could he, because now he was smiling, like he had just proven a theory.
he thought for a second, before his hand wandered to your cheek, softly stroking it. your heartbeat picked up even more. his eyes fell to your lips. he stepped forward and planted a featherlight kiss onto them.
he jumped back. "whoa" he laughed "felt like your heart was exploding"
you looked at him with big eyes, still shocked at what just happened. then you got an idea. your eyes wandered to his wrist and you pointed at it. "may i?" you asked and Lockwood nodded
you softly took his wrist and your fingers immediately found his pulse. it was beating steady, nothing out of the ordinary. your other hand landed on his chest and his pulse picked up, with every movement you did, his pulse got faster. your hand softly wandered up his chest, before it went to his shoulder. you caressed his cheek for a moment and then went to grab his hair in the nap of his neck. his pulse felt like it was exploding, you weren't even sure if it was healthy to be this fast.
your hand, which had found a steady position in his neck, quickly pushed him forward, until your lips crushed together in hunger. you forget to keep your hand at his wrist. it joined your other one and both of them were roaming his hair.
both his hands went to your waist. you breathed each other in like air, as if only a kiss could save you. his tongue entered your mouth. your knees almost buckled from the effect that had on you, but he held you steady.
after a while you broke the kiss, both laughing.
"that was amazing" you smiled
"and rather unsafe considering your heart nearly beat out of your chest when i kissed you the first time" Lockwood noted "you heart nearly exploded when i touched your neck, before i even kissed you, mister" you scolded laughing
"that's just the effect you have on me" he shrugged smiling
"let's go home?" you asked and he nodded.
"so how do you feel about me exactly?" Lockwood smiled smugly
"i ain't gotta tell you, i think you know" you plastered a longing kiss on his mouth, before you took his hand, nearly skipping down the street from pure happiness.
DAY 2: DRIVING HOME FOR CHRISTMAS
pairing: anthony lockwood x fem!reader
summary: in which you come home for christmas surprisingly and lockwood can proof that his girlfriend is real
notes: this came to me suddenly, because i had to switch some things, don't worry: the regulus one will come, but paired with a similiar request, which i had forgot to connect to each other.
second note: i'm sorry this is so short, but i just had to find something to fill day 2, because of the before mentioned mishap, it's not my best work, but i hope it'll do
there had been times where anthony lockwood had wished upon good friends that could tease him and would keep him company. now he almost wished to burn kipps and george alive.
"so you want us to believe that you 'girlfriend'" kipps raised his fingers, drawing quotation marks into the air "couldn't make it home for christmas"
"that's what i said, yeah" lockwood rolled his eyes
"convenient" george whispered between coughs
"i have a girlfriend" lockwood said aggravated
"sure, buddy" kipps patted his shoulder, almost like he had sympathy for the younger boy
"i do" lockwood repeated more urgently "i literally just got off the phone with her, while you were all sitting here"
"why don't you just call her then?" lucy suggested and she seemed to be the one who was mostly believing right now, so lockwood nodded
"great idea, thank you, luce" he grabbed the telephone from the holder, rolling the numbers quickly. the group waited for someone to pick up, but the call didn't even get through. "oh"
"there was a point about five minutes ago, where admitting you had made her up would've been fine. and now" george paused "now it's just embarrassing, mate"
"i didn't make her up" lockwood protested once again, while kipps' giggle flew through the air. even lucy looked uncomfortable now
"ehh" she said "don't you have photos?"
"she has our photos on her camera"
"convenient" george and kipps sung at the same time.
before lockwood could cry out of sheer frustration, he heard a key turn in the door.
"hello?" a voice called into the hallway "anthony?"
lockwood's eyes lit up at the familiar voice. "huh" he said "you don't believe me? come and see this" he instructed his friends to follow him to the door.
and there were you, already waiting
"y/n" lockwood said smiling "i thought you couldn't make it"
"i wanted to surprise you" you smiled proudly, but you happiness quickly turned into confusion at the unfamiliar and watchful faces behind your boyfriend
"i'm so happy you're here, and" lockwood took a quick look at his friends "just ignore them"
you nodded. lockwood smiled even wider, before he planted a short kiss on your mouth.
kipps and george choked on their breath at the exact same second.
"meet my girlfriend, guys" lockwood smiled and pointed at you
"wow" said lucy giggling "she seems to be real. do you need further confirmation or can we eat the cookies now?" she looked at kipps and george, who still stood in place. "okay" lucy muttered. then she grabbed you gently and walked you around the boys while interlacing your arms. "i'm lucy, you must be y/n"
the three boys watched them walk off into the kitchen. lockwood laughed at the dumbfounded expression of his friends, before he followed you.
"what an unexpected turn of events" george mumbled
kipps nodded "quite unexpected indeed"

DAY 9: SANTA CLAUS IS COMING TO TOWN
pairing: quill kipps x gn!reader
summary: you and quill know each other so well, you could almost finish each others sentences
warnings: short! short! short!
notes: i just made a drabble out of this
"no way!" quill said loudly when he unpacked the present you had just given to him. you watched him pull the sweater out of it's box. he held it up against his chest for you to see
"isn't that the funniest thing ever?" you asked laughing and quill nodded
"you won't believe that" he smiled, while reaching for your present. george, lucy and lockwood sat in silence watching it unfold.
you opened the present quickly, nearly falling out of your seat from laughing. in your box was the same sweater quill had just unpacked before. well not exactly the same, but it's other half.
"go put it on!" lucy directed and you and quill left the room.
when you came back, the others broke into laughter. you were both wearing sweaters reading the words 'all i want for christmas is you'
his was green while yours was red and when you stood next to each other the fingers on the sweater pointed to each other.
"okay" george nodded "that is quite funny"
you and quill sat back down in your seats.
"and you didn't plan that?" lockwood asked.
"no" you and quill shook your heads.
"what a surprise" you smiled and he nodded.
DAY 12: SNOWMAN
pairing: george karim x fem!reader
summary: a situation in which you are trapped, causes george and you to confess
warnings: none
you were sitting down in the kitchen, sipping your tea. lucy and lockwood were out, trying to get information about the new case, while george was in the archives and you were already trying to note down anything you had found in the books of lockwoods own library.
âstupid bobbyâ the front door shut loudly âstupid fittes teamâ
âwoahâ you said, standing from your seat and holding up your hands at george, trying to calm him down a bit. "what happened?"
"nothing" he sat down in his usual seat, defeated.
"that can't be true" you smiled, shaking your head
"fine" he said, standing up and filling the kettle with water "bobby said a few things about you"
"he did?" you wondered, as your eyes followed him around the kitchen.
"yeah" he put the kettle on the stove "said you two were pretty close and that he would ask you on a date these days"
"huh" you nodded "i suppose we talk now and then, but close..?" you left the rest of the sentence unfinished, trying to think about a situation which would assume that bobby and you had indeed something going on.
"are you going to say yes?" george had reached for your mug to fill it up with the fresh tea.
"thank you" you smiled as he put it down in front of you "to what?"
"to the date" george sat down across from you.
"hm.. no" you shook your head "i don't like bobby like that"
"kipps said something else"
"kipps?" you repeated baffled "how is everyone suddenly involved in this?"
george just shrugged.
you sighed. "what did kipps say?"
"he said that you were always looking at bobby as if you were in love with him"
your eyes widened and you leaned forward "i'm looking at bobby as if i was in love with him?" you repeated.
george thought you had asked him and shook his head "not that i noticed, and that's exactly what i said. i told them to stop talking rubbish and focus on their own personal affairs"
"thank you" you nodded, before you suddenly remembered, why anyone would think that "oh"
"what is it?" george asked confused.
"i think i now why they thought this"
"you do?" george scrunched his eyesbrows together and seemed less relaxed than before.
"yeah, i do quite often look at bobby" you were smiling now, amused "but not because i'm in love with him"
"no?"
"no" you shook your head, laughing "i think he does look awfully lot like that boy who plays spider-man"
"huh" george leaned back in his seat, thinking about what you had just said, then he began to smile as well "you're right" his hand rushed forward to high-five you, but his elbow accidently hit his mug, which caused the tea to spill all over the table and your jeans
"oh shit" george had quickly stumbled onto his feet, turning around to the counter, to grab some paper towels, but there weren't any left.
"seems like lockwood forgot to fill them again" you sighed, standing up "i'll grab some"
you walked down to the basement, george hot on your heels. "you shouldn't have to get them" he said guilty "it was my fault, you should've stayed upstairs"
"don't worry" you smiled, handing him the padlock of the high security room, where you now also stored things for the kitchen occassionally.
"no, i'm sorry. those are your favorite jeans, and i ruined them" while you were searching through the stuff from your last shopping trip, george put the padlock into the door, so he could help you.
"they should be in the yellow bag" he said from next to you
"yes!" you smiled as you took them out "lockwood really didn't put away anything from when he went shopping"
"typical" george shook his head.
you walked back to the door, but stopped in your tracks when you noticed it was locked.
"what is it?" george asked from behind you, unsure why you stopped before leaving the room-
"the door is locked" you replied, without turning around, while you inspected it closer "i think the padlock must've accidently closed"
"shit" george said for the second time in twenty minutes "now we have to wait for lockwood and lucy to pass the key through"
"don't you have one?"
george shook his head "lockwood took it to bring the groceries down here"
"amazing" you smiled sarcastically, before you grabbed an old blanket and put it on the ground for george and you to sit on. you both leaned against the wall enjoying the comfortable silence.
"when do you thinkâ"
"i have to tell youââ
you both started to speak at the same time. "sorry" both of you muttered apologetically.
"what did you want to say?" george asked, but you shook your head.
"you go first" you smiled "what you had to say sounded much more interesting"
"hmm" george hummed, not quiet sure if he still wanted to say what he did a second before. he then decided to be brave "i wanted to tell you for a long time now, but i like you, like like you. more than a friend" he winced, quickly closing his eyes, so he didn't have to look at how you reacted to his statement.
"george" you said and he opened his eyes. the smile on your face almost made him want to close them again. now came probably the time you would laugh at him and he couldnât even escape your mockery. "are you kidding?" you asked instead of laughing and he looked up in surprise "are you really scared of how i would react? i thought i made it pretty clear that i like you more than a friend too"
"you do?"
"of course, silly" you laughed and he breathed a sigh of relief
"thank god" he smiled "that could've gone so south, considering we live in the same house and are currently locked in a room together"
"true" you pecked his lips like it was the most natural thing to do and his eyes widened. then you got up from the ground.
"what are you doing?" he was close behind you
"don't you hear that?" you pointed to the ceiling and really, george could faintly make out lockwoods talking.
"they're back" he said and you nodded
"how about you accompany me to my room and we continue our conversation as soon as lockwoods hears our calling"
"i'd love to" george said smiling and you both starting banging on the door.

DAY 14: DECK THE HALLS
pairing: platonic!lockwood and co x reader
summary: decorating cookies at portland row
warnings: none
the light in the hallway was dim as you walked into portland row. you had a bag slung over your shoulder and gently pulled it off before you closed the door.
"guys?" you called, walking into hallway. you took off your shoes and put down your jacket, before you brought the big plastic bag filled with the contents of your shopping trip into the kitchen.
"hey" george and lucy, who had heard you calling, walked into the kitchen behind you. you turned around, smiling at them.
âlook what i boughtâ you pointed to the bag and george emptied it across the table. it was filled with food colouring, sprinkles and other necessities for decorating along a few stance forms for cookies.
george and lucy smiled at it. âbaking cookies huh?â lucy asked
âi thought we could all do it togetherâ you nodded âitâs just fun, especially when youâre not aloneâ
âsureâ george wasnât really convinced
"where is lockwood?" you wondered. it wasn't normal to not see him when you came home, especially if you had went shopping. he was always eager to help.
"he's training" lucy pointed to the basement door
"alright" you walked down the steps and leaned against the wall, just waiting for lockwood to see you
"jeez! y/n" he exclaimed shocked, a hand pressing down on his heart "what are you doing here?"
"was trying to get you upstairs" you smiled "we're gonna bake and decorate cookies, thought you might want to join us"
"yeah" lockwood smiled and let the rapier fall into the holder. "of course" he followed you up the stairs.
lucy and george were already busy, taking out the dough of the fridge. you had made it yesterday evening, so all of you could decorate it now.
you and lockwood literred the table in pads, so you could roll the dough on that. then the four of you got to work. each one of you picked out a cookie stance. lucy had the mitten, george took the reindeeir, lockwood had the christmas tree and you took the angel, like always.
you worked in silence, while christmas music was playing from the radio. after you had finished the dough, lockwood and george put them into the oven.
"we need some of that" you pointed to the powdered sugar "and some of that" george grabbed milk and melted butter for you. then you started making the icing, while your friends watched how you did that easily, without a recipe. you just added whatever you thought was necessary and mixed it.
lucy took out a few bowls and you seperated the icing into them, so each one of you could color it.
lucy decided on blue, lockwood took red, which turned a bit pink and george picked yellow. you decided on a mix between blue and red, giving you a beautiful purple color.
after the cookies had finished baking, you took them out of the oven and got back to decorating. each of you glassed them in the icing, before you let the sprinkles fall over them, decorating them beautifully.
you smiled proudly when all of you were done. you let the cookies dry and finished cleaning the kitchen, before each of you sat down, a cookie in hand.
"delicious" complimented george and you looked at him in surprise "i might be the best cook, but you'll always be the best baker" he grinned and you shook his hand smiling.
"i agree" lockwood mumbled, a bit of crumbles falling out of his mouth.
"best cookies ever" lucy giggled.
you looked from one friend to the other and smiled brightly "merry christmas"
it was indeed, a very merry christmas.
DAY 16: IT'S BEGINNING TO LOOK A LOT LIKE CHRISTMAS
pairing: anthony lockwood x gn!reader
summary: lockwood is as cooky as usual, luckily you are used to it by now
warnings: a bit suggestive
notes: another one that isn't christmas themed, but something i have kept in the drafts for a longggg time
the woods were dark, while lockwood and you were making your way through. occasionally, you had to cut some undergrowth, but you were managing.
it could've been a pretty night, if it weren't for you two searching for a ghost, that had been hunting those woods for years.
"nope, wrong direction" you said when lockwood tried to take the left path. you pointed to your right "we have to go this way"
lockwood let out a sigh, before he ultimately gave in, following your advice. "do you have to be such a know-it-all all the time?" he asked annoyed.
"no" you shrugged "but you would have to be right for that to happen"
he send you a look and you grinned. "i'm friends with the wrong people to not be a know-it-all" you exclaimed "except george of course"
"of course" lockwood smiled sarcastically.
"i wonder how you ended up here with us sometimes" lockwood said after a few minutes of you two silently walking next to each other.
"of all people, you are in no position to criticise my life choices" you muttered, but he didn't even seem to mind. you looked up at him, your hand on a tree, before you just closed your eyes. "it's near" you whispered.
instead of getting serious, lockwood tried continuing your conversation.
"it was me, wasn't it?" he asked
"huh?" you turned back to him "what?"
"that made you stay" he said "when you first came to find the agency"
"of course" you rolled your eyes, so he couldn't see.
"i knew it" he muttered behind you, but you paid no mind to him.
you came to a halt suddenly, when you noticed the thing on the ground and lockwood shamelessly walked into you.
"woah" he looked around you. the bones were laying on the forest floor, and those were probably your source. "great work, darling" he complimented and while you were still frozen in surprise at your sudden finding, he bend down and wrapped them in a silver net.
"should we like, kiss in celebration?" he asked when he had got back to his feet from his kneeling position. you sighed, before you turned around and walked away, he quickly caught up to you.
"stop doing this again"
"what am i doing, darling?" he tried to reach your hand.
"i thought you would eventually stop, but back when weren't together you always used to flirt in the most weird situations, and now you're doing that again"
"yeah, but it got you to sleep with me, didn't it?" "hm" you admitted "because i thought i could change you. seems like you are a lost cause" you giggled to yourself and fastened your pace, knowing that would rile him up.
"oh come on now, sweetheart" he argued "that's just not fair"
"i don't make the rules" you called back laughing and his features quickly formed back into a smile. he caught up to you and you took his hand, walking out of the woods together.

DAY 19: SANTA TELL ME
pairing: quill kipps x fem!reader
summary: you and quill had been the parents of the group for years, but nothing ever happened between the two of you. now itâs finally time to change that, or atleast your friends think it isâŚ
warnings: just kissing
âwho wants some cookies?â you asked, bringing out the plate and holding it in the direction of your friends.
lockwood and co, as well as quill were staying at your place over christmas and also a few days after. you were a bit older than the agency and more in the age range of quill, still all of them were dear friends, or more family to you.
you had decorated the house beautifully, hanging christmas lights anywhere you could and your friends at felt at home the moment they had entered the place.
âgladlyâ lockwoods feature lit up as he noticed the cookies and lucy and george quickly dashed forward to, taking a few of them.
when there was only one single cookie left, quill saw his turn. âthank youâ he smiled âyou always make them so deliciouslyâ he plastered a kiss on your forehead, before he started biting down the cookie and excused himself to the bathroom.
lucy send george a look. both of them looked at lockwood. and lockwood just shrugged his shoulders.
âso..â lockwood said slowly, once you had settled into the big armchair next to the christmas tree. âhowâs it going?â
âhowâs it going?â repeated lucy murmuring
george seemed to deem the question as weird as lucy did, so he followed it by hitting lockwood ok the side with his elbow.
âouchâ lockwood rubbed his ribs
you missed all of that interaction and just shrugged you shoulders. âgreat, iâd sayâ
âand dating?â lockwood earned himself another hit with the elbow âlike in generalâ he muttered, while holding back the cry of agony
âyouâre coming straight to the point, huh?â you wondered smiling âiâm not seeing anyone at the momentâ
truth was, that lockwood, lucy and george were rooting for you and quill together ever since quill had first introduced them to you about three years ago. actually, at first they had thought you were his new girlfriend. it took them quite some time to find out you werenât, considering you were always acting like a couple.
over the years of knowing them there originated some sort of dynamic in which you and quill would often find yourselves acting as parents to the little group.
sometimes they would make it too easy, by fighting like siblings or not having enough food in the house. or last fall, when all of them had gotten sick at the same time and you and quill had spent an entire week at portland row, trying to cure them.
you had never felt more like a mother.
and in some sense you loved it. you didnât have much family, so it made you happy to love and take care of someone.
âwhat about quill?â lucy asked quickly, ignoring the looks george and lockwood were sending her.
lockwood looked at george next, as if he was waiting for a reaction, or for him to elbow lucy next. but george didnât do anything, he actually just leaned forward by a bit, seemingly just as interested in your answer as lucy was. lockwood sighed and looked at you.
âwhat?â you asked âif quill is seeing someone?â
lucy and george nodded.
you shrugged ânot as far as i knowâ
your friends smiled and you returned the smile, a bit confused at their beaming happiness, before you stood up. âwho would want some tea?â
after they had answered your questions - three times yes - you left the living room and walked into the kitchen. just as the kitchen door closed behind you, quill re-entered the living room and sat down in the chair you had just gotten out of.
that was enough for the trio to silently decided to continue their interrogation with him.
it seemed that the unresolved relationship issue really bugged george, because he got straight to the point. âyouâre single, y/nâs single, why not just date each other?â
âwhat?â quills eyes had grown big.
âyou heard what i saidâ george leaned back and crossed his arms, like he had just finished his job.
âwhat he is trying to say, is thatââ lockwood tried to ease the situation, but couldnât find any words, so he looked at lucy.
âyouâre basically marriedâ she shrugged âand you obviously like herâ
âyeahâ lockwood agreed âand she likes you backâ
âwhy donât you go in there and ask her out? right nowâ george pointed to the kitchen door
âwoahâ quill raised his hands âweâre actual human beings, not just some dolls you can play with and set up with each otherâ
âso you donât like her?â george was mindlessly turning the pages of a magazine.
âi did not say thatâ quill protested.
âfine, okayâ lucy nodded âwhat seems to be the problem?â
âwhat if youâre wrong?â quill muttered âwhat if i ask her and she says no, and what if, after that sheâll never talk to me again?â
âyou canât be that obliviousâ george had decided that he had read enough and closed the magazine âi mean when was the last time you had a girlfriend? iâm pretty sure it was back before you even knew y/n. and when did you ever see her with another boy?â
âhmâ made quill, watching as you opened the door and walked out with a tray in hand. he quickly got to his feet, helping you put everything down on the table. you looked up and suddenly you were unbelievably close to each other.
âhiâ muttered quill.
âhiâ you said back.
it was like lockwood, lucy and george had suddenly disappeared and it was only you two.
âhow would you likeââ quill interrupted himself âgo on a date, with me?â he asked instead.
âi thought youâd never askâ you smiled brightly and his heart fluttered in his chest.
âi thought youâd never say yesâ he whispered and you looked at him in surprise.
âi could never say no to youâ your lips were almost touching, when you heard a noise from the couch.
lockwood, lucy and george had stumbled onto their feet and were trying to leave the room.
âdonât even pay attention to usâ lucy babbled âweâre going to buy some new cookiesâ
âare we?â lockwood wondered, but was quickly dragged out of the room by his two friends
âwe areâ was the last thing you could hear george say, in a rather harsh tone, before the front door closed loudly.
quill and you looked at each other again, laughing at your friends, that were acting like children once again.
âcan i kiss you?â
âyesâ
and he did just that. his lips were soft and you tasted some of your cherry lip balm, that he sometimes used. he was pulling you closer by your hip and neck and deepened the kiss and you wondered why you had never done this before in all the years you had liked him and didnât take the time to even admit that to yourself.
âi really like youâ you muttered against his lips as soon as the kiss had ended.
âi really like you tooâ quill said âwait, no, please scratch thatâ
you frowned at him.
âi think i might even love youâ
you giggled, relieved, before you nodded âokayâ you said âthatâs even betterâ

pairing: anthony lockwood x sister!reader
summary: you get hurt on a date and your brother notices that he has grown apart from you
warnings: mentions of injury, one yr age gap relationship (18 + 17)
notes: lucy, lockwood and george are 20 in this. reader has an age gap of 3 years
growing up you found yourself always wandering in the shadows of your older brother, he was your hero, the ideal person in your eyes and you wanted to be everything he was.
although he was only three years older than you, he grew up a faster after your parents death. he did everything possible to give you the childhood that you deserved to have.
but due to that, your relationship was strained. he thought he was protecting you by keeping you out, but instead you felt like an intruder in your own home, which felt more like Anthony's home now, who had no time to play, or to spend time, always hiding in the library, keeping you away from the things he was dealing with.
you had always hoped to one day repair the relationship you two had lost over the years, but no matter what you tried, it didn't work. so one day you just gave up.
two years later
"Lucy, have you seen my green sweater?" you called up the stairs at your best friend. she didn't answer though, you sighed and walked down to the attic, to hopefully find it in the laundry room.
your brother was training downstairs, jumping around the room and swirling his rapier through the air. you tried to move out of the way as best as you could
anthony sighed and stopped the training procedure. "how many times have I told you, not to come down here, while I'm training?"
another one of the reasons that your relationship was so strained, was that he always expected the most from you, which got tiring after awhile, especially because he was your brother and not your father.
"sorry, anti" you turned your back while you rolled your eyes and walked to the drier "I just need my sweater"
"and how many times have I told you not to call me that"
anti had been his childhood nickname, before you could pronounce his name. you preferred to call him that to this day, because first, he hated it and secondly he really approached everything that concerned you with some anti-attitude, so you thought it fit.
"sorry, dad" you replied sarcastically "won't happen again"
"don't call me that either" he sighed "have you found your sweater?"
you turned to look at him and noticed that he was waiting for you to leave, so he could turn the simulation back on.
"nope, its probably in lucy's room. see you later, anti"
"stop calling--" before he could finish his sentence, you had already made your way back up the stairs and closed the door behind you "sorry" you said to yourself "I sadly can't hear you"
"what?" you turned around to look at george, who was sitting at the kitchen table, papers flooding over the whole table
"nothing" you shook your head "have you seen my sweater?"
"which one?" george asked annoyed
"the green one? the one theo found me pretty in, remember?" you smiled, thinking about the brown haired boy that was part of quill kipps' crew and would go on a date with you later today
"theo rowland?" george repeated "why does it matter what he thinks of you?"
"i'm going out with him today" you rolled your eyes at the boy "and i wanted to wear the sweater"
"i think it's in the bathroom" george shrugged, no longer interested in continuing the conversation. you quickly thanked him, before walking out of the room and getting the sweater, that really had been in the bathroom.
after you had gotten ready, you left the house, making your way to the spot you would meet theo at.
it was later that evening, exactly ten minutes after nine, that anthony lockwood would hear loud and hectic knocking on his door. he had been sitting in the library, reading when he finally decided to open the door, the loud noise getting annoying.
"what is it?" he asked, swinging open the door. he couldn't have guessed who had been waiting in front of it.
"rowland?" lockwood asked surpised "what the hell do you want?"
"lockwood!" theo breathed a sigh of relief "something happened" theo's eyes caught lucy's who was walking down the stairs "something with y/n"
"y/n?" lockwood repeated "y/n's upstairs, what could've possibly happened?" "she isn't" lucy shook her head "she was gone the whole afternoon"
"was she now?" lockwood wondered "listen, rowland, i really don't know what you have to do with my sister, but if you don't mind, i really would love to know where she is"
"the hospital"
"the hospital?" both lockwood and lucy screeched "why didn't you say something sooner?" lockwood eagerly grabbed his coat, before he was out the door and calling for a taxi, lucy close behind him
"what the hell happened?" he turned around to look at Theo, pointing an accusing finger at the boys chest.
lucy was already climbing into the taxi. "come on, lockwood"
"if you did something to her--" he pushed theo back
"lockwood!" lucy called again
lockwood took a look in lucy's direction, deciding that he really didn't have any time to discuss anything with theo, before he looked him up and down again "i will find out if you did and now get lost!" he climbed into the taxi, that drove off after he had closed the door.
"y/n!" the relief in lucy's voice calmed lockwood down a bit.
you opened your eyes slowly, letting them adjust to the light, when you looked around yourself. "hey"
"hey" lockwood said. he took a look at your arm that was in a cast
"what happened?" lucy pointed at your arm
you looked down "i fell, really hard. but theo brought me here quickly, they gave me something to sleep while they fixed it"
"good" lucy nodded, but sensed the outgoing tension from lockwood
"where have you been? why did you leave the house in the first place?"
"i will get a nurse and tell her you've woken up" lucy excused herself from the room, leaving you and lockwood to talk.
"i was on a date" you answered his question hesitantly
"what?" anthony asked loudly "with theo rowland?" he connected the dots in his head
you nodded.
he laughed bitterly, shaking his head, walking around the room. "no you're way too young for dating and theo rowland as well! this is illegal!"
"what are you even talking about?" you asked "theo is not too old for me"
"did he touch you or anything?" lockwood sat down next to you "i can call barnes"
"what? no!" you got angrier at him "he's a good guy"
"yeah" lockwood rolled his eyes "a good guy dating a fifteen year old"
you looked at him stunned. "i'm seventeen"
"huh?"
"i'm seventeen" you repeated louder "and theo is eigtheen, so everything is fine. and if i want him to touch me, i will let him. he's very respectful"
"you're not seventeen" lockwood shook his head in denial
"yes i am" you said, but softer "what year is it, anthony?"
lockwood clasped a hand over his forehead "shit" he mumbled "you're right"
"it's alright" you shrugged your shoulders
"no it's not and i'm sorry" he admitted "i've been a pretty shitty brother these past few years, i should've kept you closer and not try to shut you out."
"don't say that" you exclaimed "of course i wanted to be closer to you, but i know that you did a lot of that so that i would have a happy childhood. you didn't mean to be cruel"
"i didn't" he nodded
"it's not too late"
"yeah" he smiled. "how about when you get discharged we go out for some donuts at arif's? you can bring theo. i scared him pretty badly, but he told me you were here in the first place, so he deserves an apology" "that sounds good" you smiled
"i love you"
"i love you too, anti"
"just today, i won't say anything to that stupid nickname, but only because you're in the hospital"
"okay" you laughed

pairing: quill kipps x fem!reader, ex!anthony lockwood x fem!reader
summary: you had left lockwood in a night filled with regret and there was nothing you wanted more than to apologise to him
warnings: angst, mention of unwellness, but not specified
notes: this got a bit more lockwood x reader (in a platonic way off) than i had planned lol. sorry :)
"so you're just going to leave?" he let go of your bag and had that look on his face again. a look that almost made you regret everything. but you wouldn't stay. you couldn't.
"i'm sorry" you said and with that you opened the door and left portland row, without ever coming back.
you woke up from someone softly shaking you. "what is wrong, love?" quill asked worriedly.
you looked at him confused, blinking at the light of the night lamp. "huh?"
"you were crying" quill explained
"oh" you adverted your eyes, trying not to think about lockwood and the dream you just had. you weren't going to think about your ex-boyfriend while you were laying in bed with your current one. "sorry, i woke you" you said quickly "it was just a bad dream"
"alright" quill pecked your lips, before he settled down again. you weren't able to go back to sleep, so you stood up and sat down on the couch in the living room, grabbing a book and trying to concentrate on something else.
you were sure those sudden dreams about lockwood and the night you left hadn't come out of nowhere.
there was this mission quill had mentioned. something that involved working with the agency head. of course quill knew about your past relationship, that's how you had met after all, but he had assured that you didn't have to see lockwood if you didn't want to.
"it's fine" you had said "i have to face him at one point"
quill had accepted your decision. you knew that you had to face lockwood, there was no way around it anymore, that didn't mean that you felt good though.
it had been a year since that night and you knew that it was your fault. you had known since that night that he atleast deserved an apology. something you hadn't been able to give him until now.
your relationship with quill had changed your perspective on a lot of things. it had made you realize that you were in a bad state during your relationship with lockwood. you had to llove yourself before you could love anyone else. you had made that clear to quill when you started going out. he had been nothing short of supportive and patient.
it's not that lockwood wouldn't have been, but you couldn't drag him into your mess. not when he had enough on his plate already.
the sun came up quicker than you had anticipated. "since when are you up?" quill walked into the living room barefoot.
"good morning" you smiled, craning your neck so he could kiss you "i wasn't able to go back to sleep after my nightmare"
"so bad huh?" he opened the drapes
"yeah" you shrugged
"was it about lockwood?" he could really read you better than anyone
you sighed, before you nodded
"you don't have to come" quill assured "i can take bobby"
"no" you shook your head "i want to come. i just feel so guilty"
quill's eyes grew softer when he turned to look at you. he sat down beside you and hugged you. "he will understand"
"he was good to me" you muttered "and i just walked away. without any explanation"
"you can explain now"
"i will" you nodded
later that day, you were standing in front of the door of portland row. quill knocked.
george opened the door and to your surprise he smiled and even hugged you. "y/n" he beamed "i haven't seen you in such a long time, how are you?"
"aren't you.. angry?" you threw a glance at quill, who just shrugged
"why would i be angry?" george made a motion for you two to enter the house "lockwood explained everything to us"
"he did?" you asked surprised
"y/n!" lucy rushed down the stairs and almost made you fall over by the force of the hug she was giving you.
you hugged her back. "hey" you muttered into her hair. the smell of the house and the smiles of your friends almost broke your heart. you had missed them. you had missed home.
"hey" lockwood said, entering the hall. he had grown a bit, his suit, that used to be too big, fitting him perfectly now. the bags under his eyes had disppeared and he looked a lot less tired.
"hi" lucy had loosened her hold on you.
"why don't we go into the kitchen to discuss the case?" lockwood suggested and you weren't able to do anything more than nod.
"so where did you find it?" quill pointed at the wrapped up mirror
"we can't tell you that" george crossed his arms, leaning back in his chair
"okay" quill nodded "did you steal it?"
"we also can't tell you that" lucy said excusingly
"well what can you tell us?" quill asked
during the encounter at the kitchen table. lockwood wasn't able to take his eyes off of you. he noticed that you looked healthier than the last time he had seen you. just like you had noticed the positive change about him.
your mind drifted off and you caught lockwoods eyes, who also seemed to be thinking about anything else.
"could we talk?" you whispered
lockwood nodded. "please excuse us" he said and you followed him out of the kitchen and into the library.
"you didn't change anything, did you?" you said, walking around the room and noticing that it was still the same that it had been all those months ago. even the photograph that pictured lockwood and you together hadn't left.
you took it into your hand, watching it closely. the photo had been taken by a stranger when lockwood and you had been on the london eye.
you had only thought about that day a month ago, when quill and you visited the london eye. the memory had hit you suddenly and almost ruined your entire day.
"i remeber this day" you muttered, putting the photo down in it's place
"i do too" lockwood said "a great day" "yeah" you turned around. "what did you tell george and lucy about me leaving?" you asked "i bet it wasn't the truth, no" you shook your head "they wouldn't treat me like this if it was" you looked at the door
"it wasn't exactly a lie either" lockwood shrugged "i told them that you needed time. that you weren't well and that you couldn't do that while you were here"
"lockwood" you muttered
"you look happy" he said "healthier and better than when we last talked"
"it's been so long" you mumbled
"a year and fourteen days" lockwood added "i thought about everything a lot"
"why aren't you screaming at me?" you asked with tears in your eyes "i just left and ruined everything"
"you did what you had to do"
"i hurt you"
"still"
"why do you always have to be this good to me?" you cried "why can't you just be angry?"
"because i'm not" he touched your arm to comfort you "and i won't pretend i am just because it's easier for you"
"i'm sorry" another tear escaped your eye "for everything. i wish i could go back and change things, i'm sorry fur hurting you"
"i know" he hugged you
"i wish i could've loved you right"
"i do too" he admitted "but i know that back then you weren't able to do that, even if you wanted it so badly"
"i always cherished our time together, but i wasn't the version of myself you needed" you explained "i think that you look much healthier too"
"i am much healthier"
"great" you smiled "i won't ever say that the way i handled it was right, because it wasn't, but i think we both needed to heal individually, we couldn't do it together"
"i agree" lockwood smiled back softly "and even if i'm not angry, i'm still glad that you came to apologise"
"i hope it wasn't too late"
"it never was" he assured "maybe we can be friends again some day, but for now, just know that i will always love you"
"i will always love you too"
"and i'm glad that we met, even if it ended badly" he send you a last assuring smile. "come on" and with that you followed him back into the kitchen, sitting back down in your seat, while quill took your hand, squeezing it softly.
lockwood noticed the gesture and smiled at you. you smiled back. everything was alright again.
âtoday was a fairytale
pairing: quill kipps x gn!reader
summary: you and quill go on your first date at arifâs
warnings: mentions of sex at the very end
notes: this was such a cute thing to write and i think we need more domestic quill kipps fics⌠or fics of him in general.. get to work, people!!
arifâs was pretty busy that morning. it was winter and you were watching the snow fall from the window of the little shop. you could hear people talking lowly, almost slipping into a chorused whisper around you. the coffee in front of you was still hot, so you couldnât drink from it just yet. quill had just brought you this new one after the first that you had already finished.
Quill slid in the seat across from you. you turned your head at the sound and smiled at him. the moment your eyes met his, he was already sipping on the second cup of hot chocolate, that he had just ordered at the counter, seemingly uninterested in waiting until it had cooled down a bit.
âisnât it a bit funny, that you ask me on a coffee date and then continuously drink hot chocolate?â you asked
quill shrugged his shoulders ânahâ
âokayâ you smiled brightly
the both of you had been here for over an hour, talking with no end. when quill had asked you to go on a date with him, you had never thought that it would be so entertaining, or that you both would find that you had so much in common.
in your eyes, quill had always been pretty strict and serious, turns out he could be quite funny, making you laugh with almost everything he was saying.
"can i ask you something personal?"
quill nodded and you smiled softly.
"lockwood told me that your talent faded some time ago. why did you choose to continue to work against the problem? why not do something else?" you asked interested "i've been an agent for all i remember, i do get the grind, but doesn't it get tiring after all that time you worked as one?"
contrary to your belief, that he might get offended at the question, quill smiled. "i don't know" he said truthfully "the thought of quitting did enter my head but it never stayed for long. i love the people i'm working with and i want to make a difference in the world"
"i like that" you replied "i always admired you for it, honestly. the way you carry yourself and stick up for your team, like it's more than just a job"
"it is more than just a job" quill insisted "it's our lives and from what i've heard and seen you don't seem to hold back either" "thank you" you laughed, before you got serious again "do you think we will some day get rid of the problem?"
âwe willâ he assured. you couldnât tell if he was really thinking that or if he was just saying that to ease your nerves. he knew that you were always worrying about the problem.
you would sometimes work together, him with his fittes team and you as a member of lockwood and co. this is how you had met as well. even though lockwood never held back with comments about quill, you had grown to like him.
lockwood had thought you had made a joke when you had told him about the date.
one of the first things you had noticed was that despite you mentioning them all the time, quill did not say one bad thing about your friends. it wasnât your intention to test or annoy him, but they were your whole life.
every story you could tell happened with them, they were your family and you were surprised how quickly quill had understood that.
he even praised lucy and george, when you told him the story of annabel ward and said that he would have been glad to have them on his team as well.
you could notice the stiffness in his face, every time you mentioned lockwood, there was just too much to just forget it, but he didnât say anything at least and you registered that he seemed to really like you.
âmaybe we could repeat this some day?â quill asked when the two of you had left arifâs and were walking down the street to portland row.
âyesâ you smiled, glad that he was thinking the same as you. you didnât want to wait until some day though. âhow about tomorrow?â you asked âiâm free the entire dayâ
quill laughed at your eagerness. âtomorrow sounds great. iâm glad you suggested it, i didnât want to pressure you, but iâd love to meet up again tomorrowâ
âgoodâ you breathed relieved. and somehow his agreement seemed to have made you brave, so you quickly added: âi really like you, quillâ
âi really like you tooâ
you stopped in front of the stairs to portland row and on quillâs face rested a lopsided grin, as he noticed the curtains moving and lockwoodâs face pop up in the window.
his smile wasnât mean though. for a short second, the time you had taken to notice lockwood as well, you had thought that he was only smiling because it was annoying the boy. but now it seemed like that was just a plus and he was going to do what he wanted, regardless of lockwood watching or not.
he bend down and pressed a featherlight kiss to your cheeks and the heat entered your face almost immediately.
âbye, y/nâ quill waved âiâm gonna call you tomorrow at noon, if thatâs alright, then we can arrange somethingâ he was already starting to walk away
âthatâs goodâ you called âhey, wait, what do you want to do tomorrow?â
âwhatever you want to do is fine with meâ he smiled âiâll call you!â he assured again, before he finally turned around and walked away
âstop being so smitten with himâ you turned your head to look at lockwood, who had opened the front door and was now leaning against the frame.
âi think itâs already too late for thatâ your eyes returned to quills frame again, that was almost too far away to see.
lockwood sighed. ânever have sex in my houseâ
you walked through the door, giggling at his seriousness. âi wonât promise anythingâ you laughed, quickly sprinting up the stairs
âwhat was that?â lockwood called behind you, but you ignored him, just smiling to yourself and feeling excitement bubble in your chest to tell lucy everything.
âthe best day

"what do we have here?" lockwood entered the library right when you were setting down the macarons you had baked. "did you make those yourself?"
despite his usual appearance, he was wearing comfy clothes. some joggers and an old hoodie that you loved, because it was so soft and the material didn't scratch your skin when you would cuddle with him.
you nodded proudly "it wasn't easy, but i did it"
"you did" he beamed, giving you a quick peck and taking one of the cookies, before he sat down in his arm chair, enjoying the baked good. "amazing darling, like everything you make"
"thank you" you smiled "do you want to play cards? i wanted to ask lucy but you came back at just the right time"
lockwood took another bite of the macaron, savoring the delicate sweetness. "cards sound perfect," he replied, setting the half-eaten treat down. the library's cozy ambiance enveloped both of you as you fetched a deck of cards from a nearby shelf.
you settled on the plush couch across from lockwood, the deck of cards in your hands. as you shuffled, you couldn't help but notice the warmth in lockwood's gaze.
"shall we make it interesting?" lockwood suggested, a mischievous glint in his eyes.
you raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "what do you mean?"
"winner gets a wish," he proposed, a playful smile tugging at the corner of his lips.
you chuckled, finding his suggestion both endearing and enticing. "alright"
the card game unfolded with each turn, accompanied by laughter and the occasional teasing remark. lockwood's eyes never left you, and you couldn't help but feel a sense of comfort in his presence.
after a few rounds, the cards had gotten abondened by the both of you, lockwood leaving his place on the armchair and rather cuddling with you on the couch.
he was caressing your cheek, while your were leaning close to his chest, breathing in his scent and listening to the steady rythm of his heartbeat that always calmed you down.
"i won" you muttered after a few minutes
"huh?" lockwood opened his eyes, looking at you
"i technically won" you repeated "the count was at three for you and five for me"
"you're right" lockwood closed his eyes again, smiling sleepily "what is your wish, my darling?"
"that we stay like this forever"
"i promise" he kissed your forehead, before he held you even closer, making you hear his heartbeat
"okay"
you close your eyes, cuddling even closer, slowly drifting to sleep to the beat of his heart.

"what the heck happened, lockwood?" barnes was folding his arms "we talked about this"
lockwoods eyes wandered from the ambulance and lucy and you back to barnes. he almost couldn't look him in the eyes. barnes was right. this wasn't the first time this had happened. actually, they had a few conversations about it already and lockwood could see that barnes was at his final point.
"this is exactly the reason every other agency has supervisors"
"we aren't like the other agencies" lockwood quickly argued
"believe me, i know" barnes was massaging the top of his nose "the other agency aren't causing me headaches"
"i'm sorry, inspector"
"this isn't the first time i heard that, lockwood" barnes sighed
"i know" lockwoods eyes wandered back to your shivering form "but it will be the last" he assured "i promise"
"i will take you up on that" barnes nodded, before his eyes turned softer "i'm really sorry for what almost happened today" he patted the boys shoulder
"i know" lockwood nodded, biting his lip as to stop the tears from flowing. barnes pity didn't make it any easier.
the inspector send lockwood another brave smile, before he raised his hand to wave at lucy and you, finally walking off to his car to leave the scene.
later in the evening when you were all home and you were laying in bed, lockwood came to talk to you.
"hey" he muttered softly, sitting down on the edge of your bed
"hi" the guilt was already crawling up your neck
you were a bit stunned when he got straight to the point. "you realize that this was extremely stupid, right?"
your eyes wandered to your hands that were playing with your book.
"what was is this time, y/n?" lockwood continued after your lack of an answer "you fell out of a window" he reminded "just a few metres more and you would be dead right now"
"i'm sorry" you muttered
"why do you always do that? why do you throw yourself in that kind of danger? why don't you never think before you jump?"
you shrugged your shoulders
"we talk about this a million times and you never change the way you behave on cases" he closed his eyes shortly, trying to keep his cool "i pull you out for a month, you come back, behave for like two days and then everything starts all over again. you nearly die every second, barnes is waiting to ban us from the job and the bills pile up more and more. i don't know what do to, y/n. i don't know how to fix it"
you weren't used to see your brother like this. his brown teary eyes stared at you and you felt like crying too. never before had he let you know anything about the struggles he was facing. he was your older brother after all, he was supposed to solve everything on his own. or at least that was what he always thought his job was.
"i don't know how to help you"
"help me?" you repeated "you don't need to. there's nothing wrong with me"
lockwood sighed. more exhausted than ever before. "stop pretending you're okay for a second, alright?"
"i'm not" you protested weakly. you could see in his eyes that heknew you were lying
"you don't have to prove anything. not to me and not to anyone else" he assured. then he leaned forward, inspecting you closely "why do you always save our lives at the expense of yours?"
"i don't"
"yes, you do" he nodded "that is why we are having this conversation now and the last hundred times it happened"
you sighed, knowing that he wasn't going to just leave it
"i'm trying to pay you back, anthony" you said, finally giving in
"what?" he asked stunned "pay me back for what?"
"for saving me and sacrifing so much to take care of me"
he almost looked angry at that "what are you talking about?" he asked "you don't owe me anything, alright? there's nothing you would need to pay back! and when it comes to a dangerous situation i'd rather get hurt than have you in the crossfire"
"no" you shook your head in protest "when it comes down to it, there's one of us that needs to survive and it's not me"
you could see the surprise in his face, before he had even said anything to that. his eyes welled up with tears again. the question he asked next would've probably been deemed silly by you, if it weren't for the seriousness of the conversation and his voice breaking while muttering the words. "y/n" he said softly "do you even want to be alive?"
you gasped, taking a moment to comprehend the weight of that question. "yes" you answered, truthfully "but i could never let something happen to you, don't you understand that? you're all i have left and i couldn't live without you, it's pretty selfish probably" you shrugged your shoulders "i didn't know what would happen to george and lucy as well. none of us is qualified to lead an agency, so they would probably lose their jobs. you're important to all of us, anthony and in comparison no one would care if i suddenly disappeared"
"i would" his voice made you look up "i will always care about what happens to you and though i understand your reasoning i cannot accept it. i wouldn't forgive myself if something happened to you and george and lucy wouldn't either, you're as important as everyone in this house and we won't tolerate you acting like your life doesn't matter"
"but i-"
"no buts, young lady" you giggled at that "i'm your older brother and as long as you're living under my roof, you're going to follow my rules. that includes not jumping out of windows before knowing for sure that there is water underneath them or better not until i told you to jump or it is the safest option to survive, you hear me? survive"
"okay" you nodded
"we will work on this together" lockwood assured "and i will try to not get myself in any situation that would even make it necessary to be saved, alright?"
"sounds good"
"but you're still grounded"
"fine"
he hugged you, happy that you had been honest and that you accepted what he had told you. he kissed your forhead. "after all you're all i have left as well, don't you forget that"
"i won't" you said, looking into his eyes and feeling a bit of the guilt disappear into thin air "i promise"

"the source should be upstairs, i can feel it" the adrenaline was rushing through your body and you knew there wasn't enought time to wait for an answer, so you quickly climbed the stairs.
lockwood was hot on your heels. "i'm coming with you"
lucy and george were busy fighting the type two and you didn't have time to argue against him. you ran through the rooms of the upper floor, searching through them, but never finding the source.
"it has to be in there" lockwood pointed to the last door left in the corridor and you nodded eagerly, dashing down the hallway. what you didn't notice, was the second type two emerging from the wall and following you.
lockwood was opening the drawers, while you were busy looking aroung the room as well. none of you noticed the ghost that was coming closer and closer to touching lockwood.
you gasped, upon discovering the source, your head turning to inform lockwood, when you noticed the ghost. there wasn't enough time to throw the silver net, and even if there had been, this was a total different ghost than lucy and george were fighting downstairs, so you couldn't know for sure that was the right source.
you quickly stepped between lockwoods turned body and the ghost. in the same moment you tossed the silver net, just for the small hope that it would actually help you. but before the net hit the source, the ghost had already outstretched it's hand. touching your cheek.
despite the touch being soft, all kinds of emotion hit you and made you stumble backwards. right behind you wasn't a wall or the hallway. it was the open window. with one last bit of your strength you tried to hold onto it, but you couldn't fight against it. not when you were already falling.
"y/n!" you could hear lockwood call, far far away. he was probably busy fighting the ghost now, in the case that the silver net really didn't do anything. at least you had given him a chance.
lockwood fought off the ghost as quickly as possible. his head always turning back to the window, trying to make out your form or how far the ground was away. he stepped aroung the silver net, fixing it's position on the source and the ghost disappeared. he was halfway hanging out the window just a second later, scanning the ground for you or any hit where you had disppeared to.
"lockwood!" the voice finally reached his ears
"y/n?" lockwood turned around, but he was met with lucy and george who looked at him worriedly
"we've been calling you for ages" george muttered
"where is y/n?" lucy tried to look behind the boy before her
"i don't know" lockwood breathed, walking down the hallway quickly. george and lucy close behind him.
"what do you mean?" george asked confused
"did anyone that was ghost touched ever disappear?" lockwood asked "is there a touch or ghost as strong to make you die and disappear on the spot?"
"y/n was ghost-touched?" lucy gasped
"that's what i'm trying to tell you" lockwood said loudly, rushing down the stairs "i think they were and then they fell out of the window and now they're gone"
"they fell out of the window?" george asked, but his question was left unanswered. lockwood was too busy, throwing open the front door and quickly walking around the house.
"they should be here" he looked up to make out the window "they should be right here" he repeated
lucy was holding her hands to her face, sinking to her knees in shock. george was trying to make sense of it all and lockwood was walking from wall to wall, muttering the same sentence over and over again.
"why aren't they here?" he screamed suddenly, holding onto georges collar and shaking him over and over again, until lucy intefered.
"this won't lead us anywhere" she said softly, losening lockwoods hold on george. "george wasn't there when it happened, but you were"
"are you saying it was my fault?" lockwood asked, tears still flowing over his cheeks. his friends could see the trauma that was bubbling up again. old memories entering his brain and spinning the events, so that he would eventually come to the conclusion that he had been at fault.
"no" lucy said "of course not. but maybe you saw something, something that you didn't really notice"
"yeah" george added "just close your eyes and try to remember"
"i-i can't" lockwood could feel the panic bubble up in his chest
"okay, it's alright" lucy tried to calm him down "maybe they are at home"
"i don't know" lockwood looked around once more "what if they are here somewhere? hurt, and we didn't even try to look for them?"
"they aren't here" lucy assured "let's go home and call the hospital, there is no use in panicking right now"
"o-okay" lockwood nodded
lucy had sent george and lockwood into the kitchen, so she could call the hospital, without lockwood hearing the conversation. she wasn't surprised when there was no one there that fit your description
before she could tell either george or lockwood, there doorbell rang. lucy wasn't fast enough to open the door, when lockwood came rushing down the hallway and dragged it open.
"y/n!" he said relieved.
lucy peeked around his shoulder. and indeed, in front of the door were you, accompanied by flo, who was holding you.
"i suggested the hospital, but they wanted to see you first" lockwood was holding you before flo could even finish saying that.
"what happened?" george was standing next to lucy and watching the scene play out in confusion "how did they disappear?"
"they didn't" flo helped lockwood to get you inside and on the couch "they came to me as fast as possible, i don't just carry these around with me for fun" she was holding up an adrenaline shot.
"i knew i needed something fast" you said "flo was the quickest option, i don't think i would've survived without her immediate help"
"no problem" flo shrugged and lockwood sighed
"we thought we had lost you" he muttered "i thought i had lost you"
"never" you smiled "but i couldn't risk that ghost touching you"
"that was so stupid" george shook his head
"and incredibly brave" lucy added proudly
"you're still bleeding from the head" flo reminded, plastering your wound with one of the tissues from the side table.
lockwood was broken out of his trance by that. "yeah, flo's right" he walked back into the hallway, putting on his coat, before he returned "let's get you to the hospital"
everyone helped to get you out of the house and into the nearest cab.
"don't you ever try to save me again" lockwood said later, while he was sitting next to your bed, after the doctor had seen you and you had received medication and bandaging for your head wound.
"oh, lockwood" you sighed "of course i'm always going to save you"
"this one was so close" lockwood nestled his head in your lap "i thought the ghost had touched you and send you into oblivion"
you smiled sadly
"i didn't even hear you hit the ground" lockwood went on "i tried to look for you, but the ghost was still there and by the time i got to the window you were gone"
"i didn't hit the ground" you smiled at the glimpse of relief in his eyes "i fell onto this very old sofa that was standing there perfectly, like it had been waiting to catch me"
"so it didn't hurt as much?" he asked
"not as much as it could've" you shrugged "otherwise my head wouldn't be in one piece anymore"
"oh god" lockwood muttered lowly "that would be awful"
"it would" you grinned
"but i knew if someone could survive this it would be you"
you smiled at his compliment "luckily, because you would be flying through oblivion right now, if i hadn't saved your fine little ass" you giggled at lockwoods dramatically offended expression
"well, thank you for saving my, what did you say? 'fine little ass'?" he laughed "i don't think i got to thank you until now"
"don't worry, you don't have to thank me" you combed through his hair "i'd do it over and over again"
"i would do the same for you"
"i know, darling" you kissed his forehead and watched happily how his eyes fluttered close "i know"

one of his hands was gliding through his hair and it fell into place effortlessly. you almost lost your mind at it. he put the sword back into it's holder with his other hand, looking around the house to see if his help was still needed somewhere. then he noticed you and came over.
"hello, love" he smiled brightly, before he kissed you
"are you finished?"
quill nodded happily, interlacing your fingers and following you away from the scene. leaving everyone else behind.
you made your way to arif's next. sitting down in your favorite booth and odering your favorite donuts, laughing, talking.
you could feel the eyes of some of the costumers, watching you and your boyfriend lovingly. they would smile when you did and gush when he kissed your hand or made you blush.
one lady even complimented the two of you directly, after quill had left the last donut for you.
he had brought some uno cards, because it was your favorite card game and you won against him three times, while enjoying your hot chocolate.
"i love winter" quill was watching the snow fall from the window, while you were shuffling the cards for another round
"yeah?" you laughed, always excited to find out something new about him. it was amazing to have known a person for such a long time and still finding out new things about them. "but you hate the cold"
he shrugged his shoulder, taking his eyes off the window and back to you "doesn't matter. i still love winter"
"that's such a contrary belief, darling"
"i know" he smiled "that's what makes me interesting"
"you can't love and hate the cold at the same time" you giggled "that's not how it works"
"can i tell you a secret?" he motioned for you to lean forward on the table, coming closer as well and then muttering softly into your ear "i don't care"
you laughed again. the sensation of his breath tickling your neck.
"okay" you handed him his cards "guess i have to accept that"
after you had won once again, or maybe he had lost on purpose, you couldn't tell, the two of you left arif's. saying goodbye to the guests that had not stopped smiling since the two of you had arrived.
he walked you home. the snow was falling even thicker than before. you felt yourself starting to love winter as well. just because he did. just because you loved everything he did.
"what do you like most about winter?" you asked
"how quiet it gets" quill smiled, waving his hand through the air, trying to catch snowflakes. "it's almost peaceful"
you watched him lovingly. he looked like a little boy again. you wondered why everything he did and said always seemed so magical to you. almost like he was special, different to everyone you had ever met.
almost like he wasn't real. right out of a fairytale or some old folklore.
"i like snow" you said softly when he showed you one of the snowflakes he had caught, before it turned into water from the warmth of his hand.
"i like you" quill kissed your temple. "even more than i like winter"
"that seems exaggerated" you rolled your eyes
"it isn't" quill assured honestly. his eyes were shining through, standing out from the white snow all around you and you wanted to cry. "you're my favorite"
"you're my favorite, too"
he squeezed your hand, while the both of you fell into comfortable silence. you stopped in front of your house and he tilted his head, so his face met the falling snow.
"you will get ill" you reminded
he shrugged his shoulders, quickly kissing your lips
"you're so cold" you giggled, trying to escape his arms.
"but you're warm" he argued laughing at the way you were trying to get away from him without a chance.
finally, you gave up, just letting him hold you and looking into his eyes. one of his hands went into his hair again and it fell into place effortlessly.
"stop staring" you looked to your side, confused where the voice had come from. "he's gonna notice!" there it was again. "y/n!" lucy called louder now and you tore your eyes away from quill to look at her.
"huh?" you questioned. lucy was standing next to you, looking in the same direction you had a second ago. quill was busy fixing his sword and looking if he was still needed.
there was no snow around you. it wasn't even winter.
"you really have to stop doing that" lucy said serious "he's way too old for you as well"
"you're right" you smiled sadly, following her back to where george and lockwood were waiting.
your eyes fell onto quill one last time. he noticed you looking and raised his arm, waving at you while he smiled. you waved back, all while asking yourself what it must be like to grow up that beautiful.
you would never get an answer to that.

summary: george admires you deeply. not only because you're his partner, but because you have an extraordinary gift
warnings: slightly suggestive if you squint, mentions of dying, ghosts, the usual
note: i just noticed, that this was probably the last george fic i'll ever write. it was so fun to write and i love george with all my heart. i hope you guys like it!!
the stairs were rusty and every bit of wood was making a sound when you were walking over it. george was following you and even though you knew it were his steps behind you, they still made you turn around and check. just to be sure.
lockwood and lucy were inspecting the first floor of the house, while you had decided to accompany your boyfriend upstairs, feeling like a type two wasn't far away.
george had been impressed by your ghost fighting skills ever since you had joined lockwood and co. you were one of a kind, able to talk to ghosts and calm them down.
george had been a bit suspicious of you when you had told him and lockwood what you could do.
"sure" george had said "you know, when it gets dark i can fly"
lockwood had noticed the look you where sending his friend and had known right in that moment that the two of you were a match made in heaven. or at least thats what he liked to claim.
in reality he had to seperate the both of you, because you kept making each other more angry.
after your first case george had apologized to you and the rest was history.
"do you have the chain?" you turned around to look at him
he patted the bag hanging from his shoulder. you could hear the silver clinging and nodded relieved. "good"
he followed you into one of the bedrooms and closed the door. he put down the bag and started laying down the chain, while you inspected the walls. "not long" you mumbled while checking the temperature.
"i can feel it too" george got up from the ground and watched you closely. you closed your eyes, feeling over the walls and hearing voices fill the room. you gasped, walking backwards, right into george's arms.
"what is it?" he asked worriedly.
"it was an accident" you mumbled "she isn't angry"
as if on cue, a ghost emerged from the wall. she was flowing in front of you in a constant motion.
"then what is she?" george voice slipped into a light panic.
"sad" you answered softly.
even without your special talent, you were able to notice that the ghost in front of you was the opposite of angry. she wasn't even coming closer. her long hair was flowing in the air and her eyes looked so regretful you almost wanted to pack everything up and leave her alone.
"hello" you said instead.
she looked confused at your try to talk with her.
"i'm y/n" you continued. you pointed behind you "this is george"
george raised his hand hesitantely "ehh, hi!"
"and you're maddy, right?" you asked and the ghost smiled "your mum told us about you" what she left out was any information about how her daughter had died. now you were wishing she hadn't. the eyes of the little girl made you so sad, you almost couldn't concentrate. but you had to.
"yeah" george added, unsure if she could understand him as well. but you had told him she could, as long as he was holding onto your hand.
that was another extraordinary thing george had noticed. you were even able to share your talent, by touching other people. he could only admire you for using your power. he had never met someone less scared of ghosts than you. not even lockwood.
no ghost could scare you, he thought. not even wraiths. most of them would calm down by your presence alone. maybe it was that they had no one to talk to before, or it was just something about you. maybe your smile or your kindness that they could feel and would keep them from hurting you.
"mum" maddy repeated and george's eyes grew soft when he heard her voice. it was a lot to see a young girl as a ghost, but her voice tore his heart open.
"yes" you smiled sympathetically. "she moved, that's why she's been gone"
"because of me?" maddy asked.
you shook your head. "no, sweetheart. she wanted to take her with you, but she didn't know how, so she called us"
maddy smiled.
it was true what you were saying. her mum had been too scared to hurt her or destroy the ghost form of her daughter, while she had sworn that she was a friendly ghost. but she wasn't sure how she would react to the strange agents in her house. she had thought that maddy would be angry perhaps. that's why you came as prepared as you were.
lockwood had promised the woman to safely secure her daughters source, so she could take her with her.
"teddy" maddy said simply. your eyes wandered around the room, until they landed on a chair, a little teddybear sitting on top of it.
"this one?" you asked, picking up the bear.
maddy nodded.
"okay" you smiled. "we will put it under this net. you will be gone for some time, but we will give it to your mum and when you wake up, she will be there, okay?"
"okay" maddy said and george was surprised how easy it was to deal with her. almost too easy. as if on cue, you could hear loud sounds from downstairs.
"the man" maddy said fearfully
"what man, maddy?" you asked, hearing lucy cry out your name "you have to tell us, okay?"
"the angry man" maddy said again "he is screaming and he is mean"
"it's alright, sweetheart" you tried to calm her. george had never seen a ghost be scared before. "wrap her source" you took out the silver net and held it in george's direction. "we will make him leave" you assured maddy "and you will be with your mum"
"okay" maddy nodded and the next second she was gone.
"what now?"
"we have to get rid of an angry man" you smiled, leaving the room and dashing down the stairs to help your friends.
lucy and lockwood were in the middle of a fight with the ghost, when you entered the living room. "y/n" lucy called relieved "maybe you can-" she jumped to the side, escpaping a chair the ghost had swung at her "talk to him"
"i'm not sure that will work" lockwood panted, throwing a few saltbombs. "it won't take him long to come back" he fixed his suit.
"we have to find the source" you turned to george, who nodded at that. "you go" you told lucy and lockwood "we will take care of him"
"are you sure?" lockwood asked and you nodded, making a gesture for them to leave the room. "okay" lockwood said "we'll be quick"
"i know" george took his position next to you
"how about some netflix and chill after this?" you asked as soon as your friends had left the room
"y/n!" the shock on george's face made you giggle
"what?" you laughed "a perfectly normal question if you ask me"
"you are always flirting in near death situations" george rolled his eyes
"yeah" you smiled smugly "but it got you to sleep with me, didn't it?"
"oh my god" george hid his face in his hands
"shit" your words made him look up. the ghost was slowly materialising again. you losened your belt, holding it in george's direction
"are you getting undressed?" george asked and his voice seemed to be a pitch higher than usual
"no" you dragged the word out "the belt is filled with saltbombs. i want you to get behind him and throw it, in case my plan doesn't work"
"what plan?"
"just do it, darling" george complied hesitantely, but did eventually walk across the room, behind the patch where the ghost was slowly coming back.
"hello" you muttered "maddy already told us about you"
"a talker" the ghost bid back, in a voice that send shivers down your spine. he seemed to be intrigued by you, which held him back from attacking you. well at least for now. "did she now?"
"she's scared of you"
"did you destroy her?" he was a lot calmer than he was before, george noticed, so he relaxed a bit, having new found trust in your abilities
"no" you said, truthfully "her mum is moving. she couldn't leave her behind" you explained "where did you come from? you weren't mentioned"
"i wasn't mentioned?" he repeated, laughing sarcastically "this is my house. i was here before any of you were even born" he screamed the last part and george was ready to throw the belt.
not yet, you mouthed in his direction. "we want to find your source. you'll be at peace" you said
"you want to destroy me" the ghost corrected angrily, but to george's surprise you didn't falter at his tone, but rather matched it.
"we want to save you" you said between clenched teeth "there's a clear difference there. let us help"
"you can't fool me" the ghost laughed
"fighting me is a lost cause" you crossed your arms "we got the best listener in the country. she will find your source and any fight will be in vain"
"you're foolish" the ghost muttered "you can talk to us and you don't use it for bigger things? we could rule the world" he clenched his fist, raising it diabotically.
"sorry" you smiled "i have a date at seven"
in the exact same second, as the ghost began charging at you, lucy called from the next room. do it you mouthed in george's direction. "contain it!" you called to the next room, moving on your feet quickly, to dodge the ghost's closer coming form.
george threw the saltbombs and a second later, the ghost disappeared. lockwood and lucy came back into the room. lucy held up the silver net, which was wrapped around a book.
"the bible" she said "who would've thought?"
"i don't care about his source" you shrugged your shoulders "let's get maddy back to her mum"
your friends nodded. leaving the house close behind you. ghosts like the second one where the true threat to your world, but maddy was the opposite. you didn't use your powers in a wrong way, like the man had claimed. you were doing the right thing with them. helping people who weren't able to help themselves.
on the way out you interlaced yours and george's fingers, thankful that the world you were living in had at least brought you both together.

you blew out the candles in front of you, your friends laughing joyfully and hugging you.
lucy and george got out plates and were too busy chopping the cake into four pieces to notice you and lockwood looking at each other. he send you a smile and you smiled back, despite not really being in the mood to eat cake and celebrate your birthday.
you could do this for them. it was only one day, what did it matter?
george had taken the whole day before this to bake the cake and was now proudly serving it to you. how could you even think about not eating it? his eyes were gleaming and it broke your heart just to think about telling him the truth.
the truth was, to put it plainly that you had always hated to celebrate your birthday. you couldn't even say why. it just was a day that you would rather spend alone in your room crying than socialize.
but these were your friends, your family. how could you deny them something that made them so happy? you just couldn't.
after each of your had finished the piece of cake in front of you, george and lucy went into the living room, setting up a game for you all to play together.
lockwood and you stayed behind in the kitchen, washing the dishes.
"i can see that you aren't enjoying yourself"
"what?" you looked up from the plate in your hand
lockwood leaned closer to you, whispering "you've been scrubbing that plate for the last four minutes"
"oh" you quickly put it down so he could dry it
"you'd rather not celebrate, huh?"
you shook your head and lockwood nodded. "i thought so" he dried up the last plate. "think you can do it for one more hour?"
you nodded and he smiled. you followed him into the living room, owning up to what he had asked you. you played a game of cards, uno then some charades. about an hour later, lockwood excused the both of you.
it wasn't as late as you had thought, but the sun had still gone down, by the time lockwood took you out of the house.
the way wasn't long, only to the little garden behind the house, setting down a picknick blanket and a small lantern.
"what are we doing?" you asked intrigued
"watching the stars" he sat down on the blanket and patted the spot next to him
you settled down beside lockwood on the soft blanket, the cool night air wrapping around you. above, the stars glittered like scattered diamonds against the dark sky.
lockwood reached into his pocket and pulled out a small, wrapped box. "happy birthday, y/n," he said
you both lay back on the blanket, gazing up at the stars. The silence between you was comfortable, and you felt a sense of calm wash over you.
"you know," lockwood broke the silence, "birthdays are a strange thing. for some, they're a reason to celebrate, and for others, it's a day they'd rather forget. why is it that you fall into the second category"
you pondered his question "when i grew up, birthdays were never a special thing. you didn't accomplish anything, why should that be celebrated" you trailed off, glancing at the stars. "but tonight, it feels different."
lockwood nodded in understanding, "i'm sorry they made you feel like that"
"don't be" you shook your head "i have it a lot better now"
lockwood smiled "sometimes, all you need is a break from the usual"
the two of you continued to stargaze, losing track of time as the night unfolded around you. the weight of the day seemed to lift, and you found solace in the simplicity of the moment, feeling peace at the silence.
eventually, you turned to lockwood with a genuine smile, "thank you for making my birthday special in your own way."
he grinned back, "anytime, y/n"
and so, under the vast, starlit sky, you found a different kind of celebrationâone that felt uniquely yours, shared with a friend who understood the beauty of quiet moments and the peace you found in the simple act of watching the stars.
