One thing I’ve learned about writing is ”give everything a face”. It’s no good to write passively that the nobility fled the city or that the toxic marshes were poisoning the animals beyond any ability to function. Make a protagonist see how a desperate woman in torn silks climbs onto a carriage and speeds off, or a two-headed deer wanders right into the camp and into the fire. Don’t just have an ambiguous flock of all-controlling oligarchy, name one or two representatives of it, and illustrate just how vile and greedy they are as people.

it’s bad to have characters who serve no purpose in the story, but giving something a face is a perfectly valid purpose.

Day 3

And Killer is living up to his name and has enlisted Outer's help in trying to kill a child. And maybe he asked for Sans' help too, but he's probably purposefully taking his sweet time getting there.

Guess he accidentally walked over a land mine.

And thus far, I think Dust has only left the safety of the treeline once. What a good way to not die.

And Sci is out for blood again, but I suppose I shouldn't be surprised at this point.

RIP Pen and Sleepless. You will be missed.

And jeez, Pen! Never knew you did archery! I figured that you'd have terrible depth perception because of your eye, but maybe that's why you're practicing it. To improve.

That honestly sounds like it would be a really interesting conversation.

They called a truce last night. Maybe they both snored so loud that they woke each other up. That would explain both of their reactions.

Lots of mercy happening here! I'm surprised Fresh in particular is being so merciful. I hope he's up to something >:3

Damn. Lots of misery happening here. I wanted to include it all here so no one is left wondering what happened to a character, but it's kind of heavy.

Damn! Okay, Sleepless! I didn't expect that from you. Especially since Sixbones is half-made of your brother. But I guess I expected this from Dream. He did just watch Sixbones kill two people, after all.

Very accurate for Killer. I wonder what he was dreaming about?
