I agree that Klaus loved Marcel potentially as deeply as he did Hope.

Why he didn’t show it is because when Marcel was a kid Klaus’ heart wasn’t open to any kind of affection. He showed his love in other ways like building him up. The fact Marcel happens to be male is also a huge factor.

The western society the relationship between fathers and sons and fathers and daughters are distinctively different. Fathers and daughters are (this is when the father stays… which is rare) more likely to be affectionate. Fathers and sons seem to bond over more typically masculine things.

That being said I wish Klaus and Marcel had the opportunity to show real affection. After Hope was born Klaus did try but it was too late. :(

Exactly, when Klaus met Marcel he wasn't really open to affection, but he tried to show him that he loved him in other ways. I also think that if he had meet Marcel as a baby, his relationship with him would have been really different, more like the one he has with Hope, because meeting your adopted kid as a child rather than as a baby, changes a lot of things.

I also wonder how Klaus’s relationship with a male bio kid would have been. Would Marcel feel jealous or something? I can't help but think he must have been hurt in canon, seeing the way Klaus treats Hope.

It's ironic that Hope's relationship with her father also got ruined, because Klaus abandoned her too (I get that he had to leave her for The Hollow, but after he stopped answering her calls he basically set the whole plot of season 5).

But at the end, the three of them are still family and if I'm honest, Klaus dying for Marcel in the finale would have been also an amazing ending.

It had been weeks since any new news. Y/N had been waiting for her brothers to send word once it was done but nothing yet. Impatiently, she decided to check for herself. 

The fall season had just begun if the trees changing colors and the wind blowing leaves were any indication. With her fall attire on: a long beige coat, cream turtleneck, black pants, and black stiletto boots, she was ready to go. 

Y/N closed her apartment door and stuffed the keys and her phone in the coat pockets. It was cold outside but it wasn’t unbearable…yet. 

She had texted him several times, well only thrice, but that was far too many according to her. She figured she’d get a head start but right before she could enter the beaten path that led to the woods, she saw him. He was wearing that signature smirk of his. 

“Leaving without me?” He asked, raising one brow. 

“You were taking too long. You didn’t respond,” Y/N replied as she kept on walking, not even slowing down for him. 

“You only texted twice.” He slightly jogged to keep up, as if he wasn’t capable of running circles around her. 

“Thrice.” 

“Ah..thrice.” He looked at her from the corner of his eye with a small smile. 

“Stop that. We need to go.” She could always feel him looking at her though despite what she’d say, it didn’t bother her.
