I don't know why the people who only want their media to be black and white without nuance end up watching complex shows with complex storyline and characters and ruining the fandom experience for everyone. like, I beg, before season 2 of arcane comes out, if yall aren't gonna at least attempt to understand the complexities of the characters, don't even bother tuning in again and sharing your entirely wrong opinions. because trust, you will be dragged. and made fun of.
and because everything needs to have a disclaimer of some sort, I am not referring to the various takes and nuanced opinions that take into account what the writers have put into the show and what is meant to be questioned and challenged. I'm not talking about open discussions and debates on the morality of the actions of certain characters. I'm not talking about sharing your reasons for taking the side of topside/zaun(undercity).
I'm speaking directly to those "takes and opinions" that are (in my opinion, purposefully) void of that nuance. basically if you're gonna come on here to just state blanket statements about things that are supposed to be discussion and cannot be removed from the context in which they lay. saying things like vi should just forgive jinx. caitlyn is bad. vi is bad because she chose caitlyn over jinx. jinx is ultimately bad.
there is no character that is neither entirely right nor entirely wrong. there are no actions done from an entirely moral standpoint because the topic of morality and what can even be seen as moral given the circumstances of the characters is supposed to be questioned and discussed. everything exists and makes sense within the context if you feel me.
I get that at the end of the day it's just a show I'm really just saying that for the butthurt people who are gonna feel called out and make it an issue that I'm up in arms about hypothetical discourse and the world keeps spinning, but it's not, really. this is someone's art. a large group of people came together to create this project that they really believe in and I honestly think it's a disrespect to them to not even try to get it in the way it was intended.
My girls are going through it i fear
she's going to suffer a lot this season:( isn't she?
Broooo I found a zuko/katara fanfic like a couple years ago where it was a canon divergence and they had a kid together before zuko betrayed them and went back to the fire nation and the fic starts from there and I haven't been able to find it since.
I don't think you understand I would throw my whole life savings (of like $50) and any iota of writing talent I have behind a red lotus backstory miniseries if they would do that.
Hot take if I was alicent hightower i'd also usurp the throne purely out of spite towards vizzy
I think I could quote any of those videos word for word they are SO good
don’t talk to me unless you’ve watched each and every one of schnee’s analysis videos about Arcane
Literallyyyy like what do you MEAN people are throwing fits over "you can't ship that it's not canon!" Canon is for quitters. Canon is optional. It's at best a vague suggestion. And it's just not as much fun.
i will say, the worst thing that happened in fandom was when shipping just became “i ship this bc it’s gonna be real” and not just “i ship this bc i think it’s a fun dynamic to explore idc what the writers are doing that’s not my business”
Bait ate the other one it's okay guys
Much as I love The Red Wedding, I have to say it…
There should have been two wedding cakes. It would be such a nice callback!
No because we are not talking about this season ENOUGH and I will be using this opportunity to insert my opinions thank youuuuu.
I think I've already mentioned this but Claudia being so codependent on viren, begging terry to tell her what to do, being in limbo because viren's not there to tell her what to do? At first I was kind of irritated cause I wanted to see my girl go full-on villain, but in retrospect it makes sense. She's always done what other people wanted to do, basing her own desires off of theirs: she stayed with viren and soren because her mom told her to, she's done pretty much everything except saving soren because her dad told her to, etc. It makes sense, and how there's only aaravos left to guide her.
And speaking of aaravos, his backstory? It fits so well with the themes of kids and parents and cycles, and of course it would motivate him to do all the terrible things he's done. The audience immediately understands why he did that. Leola deserved better ughhhh they were so cute.
I will say justice for the sunfire elf plotline, though, because tdp proved in arc 1 that it can DO politics. It would've been fun to see that in a different system and with different characters. I really liked it this season, obviously, but I feel like it would've hit better with a stronger plotline in seasons 4 and 5. Ofc, as usual, janaya were highlights cause I love them, and their wedding vows had me crying over my own singleness. :,) It's fine though.
Idk if i've ever mentioned this one but RAYLA AND HER PARENTS? I don't usually cry at movies/shows but I was BAWLING. The reflection being little rayla hugging her parents? "We know you have such an amazing life ahead of you?" UGHHH I HATE THIS SHOW SOMETIMES WHY DID IT DO THAT TO ME.
Overall, I definitely think it was probably the best season since season 3. Here's hoping they keep it up through season 7 (and the potential arc 3???)!
i finished the dragon prince season 6 recently, and it has occupied my brain all day, and I’m craving to discuss the season with anyone who’s willing to listen, so to all those that watched TDP season 6, what was your opinion on the season as a whole? What did you think of Rayllum, the story progression? What do you think will happen next?
basically, if there’s anything you want to ramble about regarding TDP, just comment below/ message me and I’m more than happy to indulge you with my TDP thoughts/ listen to your own
Idk why rise of red is on my mind so much when it hasn't been since I stopped watching it, but anyways--here's how i would slightly modify ror because i feel like writing this. I'll probably take it down tmrw. Anyways:
-The start of the movie pretty much stays the same, but uma's the acting principal until mal and ben come back and find a permanent replacement for fg, not the permanent principal.
-It goes pretty much the same way, but qoh realizes that "taking over a high school" doesn't equate to "a coup," so she takes a bunch of important people hostage instead, i don't write politics so don't come at me. Anyways, red still sentences Cinderella with treason, etc.
-Also minor changes: when red first meets chloe, she's kind of startled by Chloe's bubbliness, but starts to answer nicely--yes, i'm princess red, i mean there's kind of a barrier over wonderland rn, but you know--and then her mom looks back and red quickly does the whole jabberjocky line. Idk I just feel like red would be excited to make new friends away from her mom's influence.
-Also, qoh takes members of uma's crew hostage or something, just to further dissuade her from acting up, at least rn.
-They go back in time, meet bridget and ella, etc. The villains are pretty much the same, but hook doesn't have his hook yet (chloe can be all confused and clarify it for the viewers), and idk why hades would be there. He's a god. I did love the hades x maleficent background moments tho so...that's smth i guess?
-Anyway, they're all making fun of bridget, and ella tells bridget not to care what other people think of her, but it really gets to bridget, which is obvious to the viewer; and then people, not even the villains, just a few normal "good guys," start trying to get chloe and red to ditch bridget and ella. Obviously they refuse, but bridget's embarrassed and has a terrible idea.
-She starts to tell ella about it, and red and chloe cause like plot, and ella and red are just like "be careful, watch your words, do you want someone with you?" and chloe's like, "girl wtf you are NOT supposed to do that and it's for a reason." And then she and ella have their "get your hands dirty" scene or something like it way earlier in the movie.
-But bridget sneakily follows the villains to the black lagoon, where we meet uliana's big sister ursula, who's chilling there to talk to her sister. And bridget makes a deal with ursula that every cupcake she makes will make whoever eats it like her and want to be her friend, but in exchange, bridget will have to give up her love of baking. She struggles with it, but uliana says something that reminds bridget of the incident and agrees.
-Red and chloe track down ella and stuff, and chloe breaks the vase, as it happens in the film, and ella gets pissed, which is understandable. And then ella gets grounded.
-When bridget goes back to school, she makes cupcakes and hands them out again, and now everyone loves her and wants to be her friend, and everything's happy! But when red and chloe tell her ella's been grounded, bridget's kind of distant and doesn't seem all that interested--too wrapped up in her new friends and the popularity she's never experienced in her life. But now she's desperate for it not to end, but she also hates baking now. So, you know, not all THAT happy.
-Red tells Chloe they should sneak ella out of her house to go to castlecoming, and chloe's obviously not big on rule-breaking, but she's warming up to minor infractions, especially now that bridget's acting weird--they don't know about her deal with ursula, so they both think chloe's protests pushed her into acting like that, and chloe'll also be established as not having been popular growing up, so she doesn't want to alienate her new friends.
-So they have their red-blue friend(ship) development, and break ella out of her house, and manage to run into fairy godmother (who's a recent graduate in this version, not a current student). She's still been struggling with her magic, but manages ella's look, with the same caveat. Ella stops by the dorm to get Bridget, but Bridget's left a note saying she's getting ready with a bunch of her new friends. Oh, and red and chloe also get makeovers, cause i want outfit variations!
-Everyone's chilling, but ella's feeling kind of left out because bridget's with her new friends; charming notices her and dances with her, and she starts to realize he's not really stuck-up and he's actually pretty nice. In keeping with the fairytale, he doesn't recognize her and is kind of sad because he thinks ella isn't there, and thinks this is, like, a new kid or someone's cousin idk and idc. Anyways, red and chloe are celebrating; everything's great.
-Until one of uliana's gang eats one of bridget's magic cupcakes, wants to become her friend, and she gets pissed because she doesn't want her crew deviating from her. So she starts talking about the deal bridget struck with ursula, which never specified that people would want to REMAIN bridget's friends after the initial cupcake, and a bunch of them start laughing at her.
-Bridget is obviously humiliated, and ella tries to get to her, but uliana or her crew attack her, charming tries to defend her; the clock strikes midnight, ella decides to leave and meet up with bridget in the dorms later when she's not being fucking attacked, she drops her shoe, etc. Bridget only saw ella with charming, though, and thinks ella abandoned her, so she doesn't go back to their dorm. Red and Chloe look for bridget but don't find her, and red mentions breaking into merlin's office to see if he has, like, a crystal ball or something to find her location.
-Chloe protests again, because following the rules earlier would have saved everyone so much trouble and pain; but red argues that bridget could be in danger, and they can't waste time looking in places she's not.
"get your hands dirty" reprise because i like that song okay sue me.
-And ofc chloe eventually agrees to go through with it.
-Meanwhile, bridget's at the black lagoon, trying to strike another deal with ursula.
-In this new deal, nobody would ever be able to harm bridget again, but in exchange ursula demands her softness of heart or whatever. And bridget hesitates, and goes to take a walk to think about it, replaying the years of bullying in her head.
-Red and Chloe break into the office and find a crystal ball, and use it to find bridget at the black lagoon; they almost get caught by merlin, but they escape, although in the scrying ball's reflection you can still see bridget talking to ursula.
-Red and Chloe find bridget heading back into the grotto and hurry to try and talk her out of the deal, telling her that ella tried to help her, that they like her, that if people need to be spelled to want to be her friends they're idiots, and they just met her and they like her, so why shouldn't anyone else?
-And bridget goes back to the dorms, but there's something unfinished/ominous about the way it all plays out; even red and chloe mention something like, "well, that was anticlimactic." But they go home, everyone's alive and happy and loves each other!
-Except the qoh and ella aren't necessarily friends; they're just also not enemies. They talk to each other very formally: "queen bridget" and "queen cinderella," almost on the cold side. But both red and chloe are too happy to really notice, except very briefly in passing.
-Back in wonderland, maddox hatter is very aware that something's gone wrong.
It's like 1 am and i only watched the movie once, so if you're going to criticize me be nice about it.
He just keeps getting worse and worse
i can't believe karim not only crashed the wedding but also wore WHITE??? TO A WEDDING???
I've seen kylie Cantrell (red) with red streaks in her natural hair, which I think probably would've helped make it look less overwhelming. Red's already such a bold colour, and they used such a bright shade for like 90% of her outfit. And side note, I would've loved if they'd made red's outfits look like stuff she modified herself: like, those fishnet gloves were tights she cut up, her fingerless gloves used to be "proper" ones, she tore stuff up and sewed patches and symbols and stuff, just to make it look like her mom got her a bunch of "proper" clothes and red rebelled by making them into stuff SHE wanted to wear. It's not all that relevant, but I kept thinking about it while watching the movie. Because the qoh complains about red's clothes in the movie, so there's no way she was the one to get/authorize red to get them, right?
...i hate it
yessss and if they don't include it in season 7 i'm rioting
I just know Amaya’s petty ass is gonna be all over janai, playing perfect loving wife whenever they have to interrogate Karim, just to piss him off
Janai: And you, treacherous brother of mine what do you have to say for yourself?
Karim: I did what I-! Ok, can she, just, stop that, it’s really distracting.
Janai: Uh.
Amaya, on her tiptoes, basically wrapped around janai like a koala: [Stop, what? Loving and caring for your sister, like you wouldn’t?? Hm? Motherf-]
Karim: I do not understand the language of hands but she is moving angrily enough for me to assume she is yelling profanities at me is she not?
Janai: You assume correctly.
It's so funny watching him fail like there was no version of this where he won. Miyana is way too good for him.
Prince Karim is simply not as good at this whole machiavellian scheming thing as he thinks he is
Can I just say that I was legitimately disappointed they brought viren back at first because i was down with him being dead? Like, I ended up loving the way they went about his story, but when season five ended I was like "okay, that's a good ending for him." I knew they were probably going to bring him back, but I kind of wanted to close the chapter on him.
But I LOVE that he's the one who leaves claudia, not the other way around, the parent leaving the child; I love that we saw how dependent claudia is on her dad, insisting that she can only know the right thing to do if he tells her what it is because she's always done as he says (except, like, saving soren instead of zym's egg, but anyway). I loved him writing his confessions and deciding not to give them to soren because it would just be another burden on soren, who needed to be strong. I love viren admitting that he led claudia down the path she's on now, he's at fault, he's the reason his family split apart; i love soren getting to see his father one last time and doesn't forgive his father or even really reconcile with him.
And I LOVE how viren ends up going out, and I love that they made us believe he'd used soren's heart. For a moment there I was like "oh, shit, he ended up doing the whole 'blood of child' thing, that's crazy!" But then soren comes out of nowhere, and it turns out that viren is using his own heart and i loved every second of it. We've seen how viren seems to not care about soren, even telling claudia near the beginning of the show to save zym's egg instead of her brother and his own son. We've seen him doubt soren, mock soren, humiliate soren, and gaslight soren. And we know soren would give up his own life for katolis and the people living there, without hesitation. While viren, for all his talk of being a servant, which he probably genuinely meant at some point, ends up doing a lot of things for his own self-interest. Even when he and harrow go to kill thunder, harrow hesitates. Viren has to convince him, which in the long run causes harrow's death. He tries repeatedly to take power in katolis "For the good of katolis" despite the fact that there's a council that, frankly, seems to be running things fine, and legitimate heirs out there. When the other human kingdoms won't go to war because of a lack of information (reasonable), he sends literal assassins after them. He turns a bunch of humans into essentially mindless beasts without asking their input or seeming to care about what it'll end up doing to them. And he goes out using his dark magic for something good, using his own body instead of someone/thing else's; and when he says "i am a servant," now, it's the truth, that's the role he's playing. Viren does unquestionably bad things, and i literally just said he's selfish while claiming to be selfless, but everything he does, however questionable, does stem from a place of love for katolis. In retrospect, i'm not sure there was any other way to finish him off (probably for good now; season 7 will probably be too crowded to bring him back, and they just shouldn't), than with him doing what he always claimed to do and never quite achieved: using dark magic to help his people.
I literally have not stopped thinking about this since the season ended.
I can’t believe Janai and Amaya got back from the battle and literally just put their wedding clothes back on and picked up exactly where they left off. like “oh yeah we just had to go and deal with the haters outside the church who didn’t want us to be married. now where were we.” icons
The dragon prince season 6 spoilers
Okay i JUST posted about the janaya wedding but side note: I kind of love that karim...doesn't really seem to have friends? He has miyana, sure, but he doesn't have a gren or a kazi. If karim and miyana got married, who would promise themselves not to cry and start bawling as soon as the ceremony started? Who would have to get pushed aside because they're too busy crying to officiate properly? Who would be giggling and jumping up and down for excitement? We get unfairly few janaya + gren + kazi interactions but it's clear that they're friends and they like each other. Idkkk i just think it's funny that karim is canonically the friendless sibling.
WHY IT TOOK ME LIKE AN HOUR TO GET THROUGH THE JANAYA WEDDING BECAUSE I WAS BUSY BAWLING:
SPOILERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-EZRAN AND AANYA REUNION!!!
-Also, thank god Amaya finally got around to telling ezran she was getting married.
-Corvus x sunfire elf duet!!! And humans and elves chilling together in general!
-Amaya looking all nervous for a second as she steps out ughhh she's so cute.
-Kind of random but I love that janai doesn't have her queenly hairstyle (the bun) and just leaves it down? Something something symbolism something she's not the queen right now she's just janai? Also, I just think she looks so pretty with her hair down (she's always gorgeous tho).
-JANAI WINKING. It's so cute. It reminds me of that video of prince harry at the altar with meghan markle telling her she looks beautiful or smth before they say their vows.
-KAZI AND GREN OFFICIATING AND BEING SO HAPPY FOR THEM???
-LIKE YOU CAN HEAR THE EXCITEMENT IN KAZI'S VOICE I CAN PICTURE THEM JUST JUMPING UP AND DOWN FOR JOY.
"When Amaya and i first met, we had our differences." "Specifically, we tried to kill each other." Yes, we know, Amaya, and from that point on we knew you were endgame.
-Love the detail that vows are a human thing, not an elf thing. Cultural details!!! We love to see it.
-Stupid clouds. But it's fine! Tbh when i first saw Kazi's face drop i thought it was going to sol regem coming to crash everything and I panicked and threw my phone down.
"Now, that's poetry!" Kazi never change.
-The audience cheering. I love how it's not just clapping, and you can hear people genuinely excited to be there and see it.
-Gren bawling poor guy.
-Why tf was karim there omg he needs to chillll.
-Ezran really said you are NOT interrupting my aunts' wedding rn on my watch.
"If anyone objects to this marriage...well, what are they going to do, show up with an army?" I would've laughed tbh idc.
-NOT THE VOWS JESUS CHRIST. I'm emotionally unstable.
-I love that amaya apparently went to gren and was like "YOUR JOB IS TO TALK FOR ME WTF DO I SAY" and he was just like "just tell her why you love her! Simple!" and she was like "BITCH-"
"But that's hard to do, because it changes all the time. Every day, I find something new, and my love for you keeps growing...our love will change, but it will endure." Paraphrasing ofc but i just loved it so much.
-Also janai started crying and it was like me too babes me too.
"AND IT WILL BRING MORE LOVE INTO THE WORLD AS IT DOES" yeppp something something humans and elves something something!!!
-Not kazi having to push gren away bc he was crying too much.
-Note about the kiss: I was OBSESSED with janai's hand when i rewatched it like 5 times? Like yes i'm a sucker for tender face touching but the way you can see her thumb stroking amaya's cheek and her hand going down to amaya's shoulder and--
-Also, in the background, the standing ovation! Again, I LOVE that people aren't just clapping, they're cheering and laughing and being all "yeah!" "woo-hoo!" and seem like they actually want to be there.
"HER WIFE!"
"QUEEN AMAYA!"
SPOILERS FOR SEASON 6 OF THE DRAGON PRINCE DON'T WANT DON'T READ
Weirdly enough can I just say that the first thing I thought of to write in this was how happy I was that sol regem flew away from karim instead of helping him? Surprised, sure, but not disappointed.
First of all, it proves a fan theory that pharos was one of aaravos' pawns. Also, the twist that sol regem killed his own mate (luna)? CRAZY. I ate that shit UP istg.
Second of all, Karim's always been reckless, prone to not thinking things through (see exhibit a: uses fire to try and take out fireproof sister). Sol Regem straight-up told him not to come back, and what did Karim have to go and do? Take the fast, direct way instead of the slower, but much more rational way. I think it makes so much sense that his own hubris causes his defeat once again.
BUT ENOUGH ABOUT HIS WHINY ASS, LET'S TALK ABOUT HIS SISTER.
I LOVED that we started janai and amaya's storyline off with janai being frustrated and angry and taking it out on other people, even people she loves. She was much less soft, much more impulsive, more like season 2-3 janai. But I'm also glad they didn't use it as an excuse to write rOmANtIc TEnSIOn and just had amaya tell janai a story about a king who was so paranoid that he ended up losing everyone he loved and who loved him by his own actions. And I loved, loved, LOVED the scene at the tree with amaya and janai. Like, I'm sorry, "YOU ARE MY HEART, MY TRUTH, IF I EVER START TO DOUBT YOU I WILL KNOW I AM TRULY LOST?" I did put my phone down to squeal and giggle and kick my feet, thank you sm for asking.
"you are my heart you are my truth" what if i died rn
Oh my god STOP the reason she wasn’t in bed when Amaya woke was because she stayed up all night looking for the book?? looking for a human who had the story that Amaya told her about that had reached her when she was lost in hurt and paranoia and grief so she could read it for herself?? and then found the detail that the King with a thousand eyes’s lover had never left no matter what??? which Amaya absolutely knew when she thought of it??? Stoppp I can’t
I NEED THE DAY TO END FASTER OH MY GOD

Yes I am still here, yes I will keep obsessing over these silly geese. I love drawing their interactions, Ghazan is such a himbo and my babygirl.
For all my non Italian speakers, I present you one of the greatest pieces of Italian culture ever. Excerpt from a movie by a really famous comic trio, when I rewatched it for the 100th time I knew I had to draw this dynamic. For all my Italian friends, I am so not sorry.
