I'm trying to fill a gap for a character who's clumsy, likes to play tricks/pranks (he's also thrown into the cruel world and can turn into a girl but I don't kow if it helps knowing that). Any ideas ?

Well from what you said the first idea that came to mind is your characters could be a shapeshifter or illusionist he could also be a master of disguise as well, that way it would make sense who could play tricks and pranks on people with his abilities also allowing him to turn into a girl. 

Now for him being clumsy maybe sometimes when he trips his illusion wear off or hits something or his disguise is ruined. Maybe get himself caught or put him in difficult situations

For Thrown into a cruel world, he could be trying to cheer people up with his fun and games but gets caught once in a while for his jests due to his clumsiness or could have a goal to achieve in your story.

Some characters I know with a similar idea that you can look at for references for your character, Amorpho from Danny Phantom who shape shifts and enjoys pranking people for a laugh but has the moral code no to let it go to far where people come to harm.

Jean Descole or Don Paolo from Professor Layton who aren’t very much tricksters but great at disguises and use it as an advantage to accomplish their goal.

I guess maybe even Howl from Howl’s moving castle using his disguises to have fun or to hide from people from his past.

Also Clopin from Disney’s The Hunchback of Notre Dame has a very joking and cheerful attitude even in a difficult and cruel place and time.

Those are a few I remember right now but find what fits with how you imagine your character and add any details to make them their own unique personality
