ChengXian With Angst And ABO Dynamics
ChengXian with Angst and ABO Dynamics
Basically...
Jiang Cheng and Wei Wuxian were lovers before an arranged marriage between JC and an OC broke them apart. Of course, this didn’t stop them from sneaking off together once in awhile, but one day, WWX discovered he was pregnant.
Believing JC deserved to know, he told him in private, but JC had to force himself to deny fathering the child. To admit fatherhood would be to admit being unfaithful to his principal spouse, and he couldn’t risk losing face. WWX, always the understanding man he was, just smiled and said, “Right. I must’ve gotten drunk one night and met someone.”
The unborn babe was then labeled a bastard of an unknown father.
The mother was subject to judgmental eyes wherever he went.
However, WWX wasn’t the type who wallowed in self-pity. He lived his life as he always had, even without anymore of Jiang Cheng’s secret displays of affection, and looked forward to meeting his child.
He never did. Not really.
Wei Wuxian’s labor was a hard one, and it took its toll on his body. The midwife who helped him deliver told him to rest, and then he could hold his baby once he regained his strength.
JC was allowed in the room sometime after, and he sat beside WWX, holding his hand and asking him how he felt. The midwife had left to attend to other matters, leaving the newborn babe with a wetnurse.
WWX, “J-Jiang Cheng, my baby. I want...to hold them.”
JC, sighing, “Rest for now, Wei Ying. They’ll be here when you wake up. You can hold them all you want after you rest.”
WWX’s eyes became wet with tears, he looked as though he were desperate, but he insisted no more, like he lost the energy in a flash. Instead he said, “A-Cheng...the room’s getting...dark.”
“?!” JC watched WWX close his eyes, and he’d not open them again. He felt the hand in his go slack.
“Wei Ying?
“Wei Ying?!
“Wei Ying!”
He called his name over and over, screaming so loud that he scared everyone within the area.
It didn’t matter who arrived to check on them first. WWX was dead.
Sometime after, Jiang Cheng got to hold the child he denied. He said to himself, fighting back tears, “Wei Ying never even got to hold you, and yet here I am, having that privilege instead of him. I didn’t even accept responsibility for you.”
Unfortunately, no matter how much he wanted to do right by his newborn child and the late WWX, he couldn’t accept fatherhood. His face was too important, and the wrath of the Jiang clan would be upon the helpless babe.

Wet mane!WWX.
Have a nice day.
I’ve been wanting a Fatal Frame AU for the longest time. Thank you for this.
It’s a true blessing. 🙏

In which I have a shitton of ideas on a Fatal Frame AU for MDZS because why not, but only one picture came out of it. Sometimes you’re so constipated, nothing comes out. I have way too much and illustrating all of these will be a major pain sobs.
AU since most of us don’t know how exactly WWX died yet: What if he was spirited away instead of full-blown dead?
Set sometime after WWX was announced to have died
LWJ, being where the chaos is, ends up helping someone with no money, but with a Camera Obscura a camera that can take spirit photos and exorcise resentful energy from spirits to barter with. He proves that it’s real right then and there by snapping a photo of LWJ on the spot, revealing his mother behind him.
Back in Cloud Recesses, LWJ snaps a picture of LXC to reveal their father behind him before taking a selfie with LXC; a family photo ish with their parents’ spirits behind them
“What if Wei Ying is the same way with A-Yuan?” LWJ snaps a photo of little Sizhui, but no WWX. Oh well. Maybe tomorrow in the Burial Mounds. He goes to sleep with the camera placed somewhere in his room.
The next thing he sees after drifting off to sleep is a derelict version of his room. He picks up the camera, wanders out to see 15yo WWX perched on the wall (like most of the harmless ghost encounters).
He snaps a photo of the specter, who notices him and runs away. LWJ follows.
Most Fatal Frame gameplay consists of wandering around and unraveling the backstory of the unknown setting through notes scattered all over the place, but instead of that, since the setting is known to the protag, it ends up being LWJ looking at snippets of WWX’s life when he wasn’t around to witness it and following WWX’s constantly-running specter while photographing malicious ghosts in the way. Because they’re ghosts, neither Bichen nor the guqin work; and because it’s some alterworld, there are no talismans around.
It culminates in him finding Yiling Laozu!WWX as a ghost(?) chock full of resentful energy, driven insane. By that point LWJ has understood the sheer weight of WWX’s emotional burdens and cue final boss fight as depicted in the picture
Fatal Frame has multiple endings depending on your choices, so endings below:
Worst ending (Canon?): Don’t complete any item sidequests. Final boss fight is quite easy as it only consists of photographing WWX who just charges at LWJ. After the resentful energy has all been exorcised, WWX disappears into thin air just like the other ghosts LWJ fought. LWJ shouts “Wei Ying!!!” but ends up shouting himself awake and, as usual, wakes up alone. *Fatal Frame has this notorious habit(ish) of making the worst endings canon, as seen in FF1 and FF2, which leads to FF3
Good ending: Complete the item sidequest for the Spirit Containing Pouch. Final boss fight is the same as the worst ending, except at the end of the fight, LWJ uses the pouch right after all the resentful energy has been exorcised and WWX was beginning to fade away. He wakes up with the pouch right beside his pillow. He then plays Inquiry, and there are responses… (“Are you Wei Ying?” “Yes.”)
Best ending: Complete the item sidequests for Chen Qing and Suibian. Final boss is significantly harder, because both items just flew to WWX when LWJ arrives in the final boss stage, so he can summon ghosts and slash around/his hits are harder. Right after WWX is all exorcised, instead of fading away, he collapses to the ground. LWJ drops the camera to catch him. He wakes up with WWX beside him shortly afterwards. WWX opens his eyes; clear without any resentful energy and LWJ gives him the biggest hug. WWX is confused as hell because “tf dude? don’t you hate me to bits?? what’s going on?” LXC comes over after hearing the little ruckus and gives WWX some much-needed exposition on how LWJ truly feels about him.
EXTRA SCENARIO based on the best ending
Shortly afterwards I speculate that LWJ and LXC will just decide to plain hide WWX from the rest of the world hoping that JC and JGY don’t notice that Chen Qing and Suibian have magically disappeared as they are back with WWX; while WWX is all ????????????? ????????????????? ?????????????? how did i come back to life ?????????????????
The night after, LWJ (and WWX) go to sleep with the camera still inside the room but they don’t go to the alterworld; the camera stopped working during the day.
But the next morning LWJ finds WWX tinkering with the camera (“Lan Zhan, no wonder it’s not working, the gears inside have been displaced. Did you drop it or something?”)
Shortly after fixing up the components inside, WWX tests the camera (on LWJ? LXC? Little Sizhui? idek) and it works again. He happily mentions something about improving it. The night after, they sleep again with the camera in the room.
and then both of them get transported into the alterworld :“> at least this one is more comedic and lighthearted. They wake up together again and decide to stash the camera in the treasure room.
AU NOTES:
Most FF games involve physical locations, but FF3 features a less physical location; the Manor of Sleep is…somewhere, but it can only be accessed by whoever bears the Tattooed Curse, and while they’re sleeping.
Yes, FF bosses can summon mooks; at least in FF5, the final boss does it in both of her forms.
Item sidequests are a thing. In FF3, if you don’t complete a certain sidequest, one character will not survive.
FF plots always revolve in a dark ish ritual failing and consuming the location completely, with the final boss being the shrine maiden involved in the failed ritual. It’s not hard to see WWX being an FF final boss.
FF5 has a character whose endings are determined based on whether she photographs her mother in a certain location or not. If she doesn’t, she will have a final moment with her mother before said mother fades away, as the mother has a limited lifespan. If she does, she will have a proper moment with her mother in an outside location, and wakes up in the designated home base location beside her mother. Simply put, the best ending of LWJ being reunited with WWX in less than 13 years is based on that ending.
In some parts of FF2, you play as a younger twin sister, with the older twin sister by her side. You need to make sure that the older twin’s HP doesn’t reach 0 and to not leave her behind. The shenanigans that happen to LWJ and WWX after WWX fixes the camera is based on this gameplay aspect.
Stillborn
WangXian ABO AU Where WWX Delved Into Necromancy Because Of A Stillbirth
This was the first ever AU I conceptualized before really diving into GDC, which means I didn’t know much other than who was who, what they looked like, and what the setup was; and of course it’s got ABO dynamics. When don’t my AU’s have ABO dynamics? My line of thought was, Huh. What if WWX and LWJ were together before shit hit the fan, and they almost had a child together, but that child died in the womb? ...What a great reason for WWX to delve into demonic cultivation!
WWX blames himself for not being strong enough to birth a healthy child and fears that LWJ will leave him.
LWJ blames himself for not being a good enough partner, for not taking better care of WWX during his pregnancy, and fears that WWX will leave him.
Both believe they themselves are at fault and that the other blames them.
LWJ’s distance and silence doesn’t help WWX’s mental state, and so he dives into necromancy in an attempt to resurrect their dead baby, hoping that it’ll keep LWJ by his side.
...Long story short, it goes about as well as you’d expect.
“Lan...Lan Zhan, why are you so angry? I’ve brought our child back to us! Aren’t you happy? Why are you rejecting me?
“...I didn’t do good enough, did I?
“I’m not good enough!”
Some afterthoughts:
Let’s assume WWX’s lost his golden core by the time he’s become pregnant.
WangXian got together sometime before the Sunshot Campaign.
Initially, WWX hadn’t delved into demonic cultivation until after his stillbirth, but let’s change that and say WWX had gotten into it for the sake of getting revenge on the Wens as he does in the canonverse, but perhaps LWJ convinces him to stop practicing until, y’know, WWX’s downward spiral.
MDZS Omegaverse AU Where Omega!WCZ Was Stood Up When He And Alpha!CSSR Were Supposed To Elope
Sorta ties in with this AU.
Wei Changze was four-months-pregnant with Wei Ying when Cangse-Sanren got cold feet and left him waiting in the forest where they were supposed to meet.
He returned to the Yunmeng Jiang with his head bowed and eyes red from crying, the mouth veil that hid his Glasgow smile back on his face after he’d been convinced to not wear it any longer.
Cangse called him beautiful.
She was a liar.
Upon his return, his master, Jiang Fengmian, and his wife, Madame Yu Ziyuan, looked at him with sympathy.
The birth of Wei Ying lit a fire in him, though.
He raised his son as a single mother and taught him his style of martial arts and cultivation (but mostly honed his martial prowess).
Wei Ying learned discipline and became the next protector of the Jiang clan, though he inherited his father’s free spirit.
(No matter how much Wei Changze denied it, he loved that about Cangse-Sanren.
(He looked forward to living a free life with her.)
When Wei Wuxian was fifteen-years-old, however, the infamous face from his mother’s past appeared, and she confused him for Wei Changze.
“A-Ze, is that you?”
