I am a small frail kitten with multiple mental illnesses & I am banned from most public spaces. Anyways so I had long(er) hair & then I cut it to look like Rapunzel after The Big Chop TM & have been happy with it since My hair has been blue for the full second half of my life, I joke that it's my natural hair color, so even though it resembles raps post chop in shape- it does not in color. I would also like to establish here that Rapunzel & Jinx are compared to each other on the regular and crossed over / connected etc etc etc (and I relate heavily to both girls on an insane level) HOWEVER GIRL THIS IS WHERE I GET WEIRD Bcs if it is in fact true that Jinx gets a big hair chop TM in season 2 Then my hair is going to look incredibly similar to hers and and and what if I said that i'm tweaking about this and that I feel validated as an obsessive kinnie to these two. girl what then. hoooolllyy shit I need to renew my medication

I consider quasi and raps to be more similar than aurora is to either of them. One reason being is Quasi and Raps were taken from their parents unconsentually, whereas Aurora's parents agreed to her being raised in the forest (As much as it hurt them, they knew it was for the best). On top of that it's huge plot points for both Q and R that they crave "out there" in some sense. Whereas for Aurora, the goodfairies weren't traumatizing monsters (like frollo and Gothel), they were just normal overprotective. Aurora never felt fear to express her feelings of being sheltered and possibly a little isolated. She made little remarks about it but seemed generally happy with her family. If anything, aurora is the most upset in the movie when her life with the goodfairies is uprooted because hey by the way girl you're the princess and it's time to go back home to somewhere you never knew, and also u can't marry dream boy bcs you've been betrothed since birth. although a lot of the physical movements are similar between these three, emotionally, and intention wise, Quasi and Raps connect where aurora just, has way different themes. Quasi and raps are so similar in fact ! that when Alan Menken was writing "when will my life begin" he was "painfully aware" of "thematic similarities between this song and Quasimodo's "out there"." and actively had to keep out there in mind when trying to make when will my life begin unique.

--- unrelated thought If we wanna add people to this lineup, Hercules kinda fits the bill of "baby who is torn away from parents and must be raised by other people until eventually they go on a journey to find their way back home and reconnect with birth parents" thingy

The parallels between Rapunzel, Aurora, and Quasimodo

A baby taken away from their parents and then forced to live in isolation. Their guardian (s) tells them there's a great evil out there out to get them and to be wary of strangers. One day, they meet a handsome/beautiful stranger they (almost) instantly fall in love with and they do all they can to be with. Here's where their paths diverged.

In Sleeping Beauty's case the danger was Real. The fairies were telling the truth and maleficent wants her dead (ignore the live action sequel)

Rapunzel and Quasimodo live with their monsters. Getting out was an adventure and even then they had someone like Eugune or Phoebus to help them. Rapunzel needed saving just like cinderella and snow white might make another post about that later)

Rapunzel and Aurora both had a living set of parents a rarity in disney heroism, only Aurora's knew who she was with but couldn't be there until she was 16, while Rapunzel had to find her way back to hers.

Quasimodo is in a way the least sheltered as he know in vivid detail the lives of those below him. And is the only one who decides to go back to his tower.

Sometimes, people say they want to protect you, which is just that protection, and sometimes its about control. Aurora and Rapunzel are both teens and sheltered. They both fall in love with the first guy they see. Only when Aurora thought she was most safe she was bewitched and in the most danger. When Rapunzel was supposed to be in the most danger from the bar full of rufffians, she bewitched them.

So what I want to say if what makes the monster? and what makes the man? Who's protecting you? And should you be protected by them?

I've been seeing posts around talkin about how how deeply Armand loves Lestat in the books and how he's the love of his life even though the feel isn't returned and I gotta say I hope that isn't how they take things moving forward in the show. I just haven't gotten that vibe from Armand honestly. Yeah, he loves him and he also loves Louis- that's clear. But to me it seems more like he has developed strong attachments/feelings for them out of a dependence. It doesn't feel like a "love of my life" situation. It feels like an "I need someone as I alone feel incomplete/lost" situation.
