Something that I haven’t seen anyone talking about is the parallels in lyrics between The Guy Who Didn’t Like Musicals and America Is Great Again
The greatest stories ever told
I don't know what you've been told
Have a hero who must be bold
Against those that are far too bold
They learn a sense of right and wrong
There's only room for right and wrong
And better learn this sense through song
The loudest become the strong
Blue: TGWDLM
Red: America is Great Again
I think a lot of people conflate the idea of "I like this headcanons" and the idea that "this should be canon."
Do I think Mary Poppins and Bert SHOULD be in a romantic relationship? No. The movie/musical would be worse for it, the structure of the story would be thrown, and there's no reason to further define these characters who are by nature mysterious and ethereal.
Do they hold hands and dance in my brain? Duh.
These concepts are not mutually exclusive
How could you? Small men never dream of great things. They wallow in mediocrity, satisfied to pass their meager days in dull sport and flailing misery of a life misspent. You, sir, are a ghost of your own life, made to haunt the world even before the day of your death.
