I Realized Something Several Weeks Ago As I Was Waiting For My Canned Tomato Soup To Warm Up For Lunch.
I realized something several weeks ago as I was waiting for my canned tomato soup to warm up for lunch.
Obi-Wan told Luke that Owen Lars lied to him about what Anakin did for a living because he didn’t agree with Anakin ideals and didn’t think Anakin should have gotten involved in the galaxy outside of Tatooine.
Owen would have had solid reasons to lie about what his step-brother had done for a living before his untimely death.
The Empire was hunting Force Sensitivities and it appears that in the upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi an Inquisitor apparently comes pretty close physically to Luke and Owen stood face to face with the Inquisitor and had to stay calm and not give away that Luke was special or was unreasonably afraid.
I am the mother of a three year old child and an aunt to about a dozen nieces and nephews ranging from babies to adults and I would be terrified if I knew that they could be hurt/taken away/killed by people searching for ‘special’ people.
If I was in Owen and Beru’s shoes I would lie to Luke, and theoretically everyone who asked about what Luke’s father did for a living, too. I would do everything in my power to make sure that no connection could be drawn between my deceased step brother and the Jedi Knight/General that served in the Clone Wars. And if asked if there was a connection deny it or reiterate that my brother had been the farthest thing from a soldier.
As for why Obi-Wan felt the need to disparage Owen for lying? I can’t answer beyond that maybe he felt Owen took the secrecy too far for too long and that Luke was ready to know the truth and could keep it a secret.
But in all honesty if caught/asked by an Inquisitor Luke wouldn’t be lying if he said that his Dad was a Navigator on a Spice Freighter as he believed that it was the truth.

Fellow epileptics, I have some fantastic news for you. There’s an add-on that makes the internet safer for us. It’s called Epilepsy Blocker. The creator had me test it out, give feedback, he made adjustments, and it works great. It may even help those with migraine disorders that are triggered by the same thing that messes with those of use with photosensitive epilepsy (mine is a case of being absurdly sensitive).
This is the only add-on I’ve encountered made specifically for those of us with epilepsy. It’s not a well known add-on, but I hope to see that change.

Heard some important information on Twitter today, and thought I’d post it here for anyone who may not have heard it. This is actually a thing, devised by human rights organisation called Karma Nirvana.

Jedi June 2022

A creative fandom event dedicated to appreciating the Jedi, taking place during the weekends of June! Each day of the weekends will feature a prompt, around which people can create fanwork (of any kind – fic, art, cosplay, edits, anything you can think of) or meta focusing on the Jedi and the Jedi Order. All eras and continuities are welcome; OCs, established characters, doesn’t matter – it just needs to be about appreciating the Jedi!
Rules:
If you are participating, please tag your work/meta with #jedi june and/or @ this blog so that I will see it and reblog it here. All work must be your own. Feel free to crosspost it off-site.
This is an appreciation event, focusing on what we love and enjoy about the Jedi – not what we don’t. This is not the place to air your grievances with the Code, take potshots at the Council, prop certain Jedi/certain eras of Jedi up at the expense of others, or disparage the Jedi Order or their philosophy and way of life in any way (including the concept of non-attachment). You are free to do that on your own time if that’s your thing, but it has no place within this event.
AUs and crossovers are allowed, with caveats: again, the purpose of this event is to appreciate the Jedi as Jedi, so sticking your favorite Jedi characters in something like a modern AU or making them all Sith or Mandalorian is not really within the spirit of this event. However, AUs such as making a non-Jedi character a Jedi, having a character survive their canon death, giving a character a different teacher or padawan, or killing Palpatine off-screen in an unspecified yet embarrassing and painful manner, would all be perfectly fine. Use your best judgement to determine whether an AU fits the spirit of the event or not.
Ships are allowed as long as they’re not between a child and adult, and following the above rules.
Following the weekend prompts is encouraged, but not required. Any sort of pro-Jedi content is encouraged all year month long, and if tagged (and following the rules), will be reblogged. It also does not have to be uploaded on the exact day - if it’s more convenient for you to post (for example) Monday and Friday of these weeks instead of Saturday and Sunday, your posts will still be reblogged here, although it may take until the weekend to get to them.
Prompts:
Saturday, June 4th: Commitment/Service
Sunday, June 5th: Non-attachment/Compassion
Saturday, June 11th: Mischief/Humor
Sunday, June 12th: Knowledge/Defense
Saturday, June 18th: Training/Tested
Sunday, June 19th: Community/Jedi Temple
Saturday, June 25th: Symbols/Faith
Sunday, June 26th: May the Force be with You

If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask! I hope you will have fun participating!
