Beautiful Sphinx moth visiting the flowers in Western Montana! Guessing white-lined, but they never landed and their wings were going too fast for a good pic XD
Definitely a white-lined sphinx, there isn't any other species in your area that looks similar! Surprisingly impressive pics given how fast they are.

Hey why do people see weird patterns if you press on you closed eyes too hard, seems like a weird and probably useless feature of the human brain
it's because squishing your own eyeball increases the pressure inside it slightly, which causes the light-sensing cells in your retina to absolutely lose their shit and start beaming garbage data directly to your brain, where it's interpreted as random colors and patterns.
