Work in progress: peacock butterfly (Inachis Io, dontcha know). A sort of composite of several photos and a couple of illustrations from some lepidoptera textbooks (yes, we really do have these lying around the flat...).
(I did try a version of this using the new watercolour pencils and it went horribly, embarrassingly wrong (and then straight in the bin). So markers it is!)

This high school reminded me of my high school experience. Transferring halfway into the semester. Crazy drama and fights. School ending in the middle because of… murder (covid).

Milkweed bug! I don’t know if I’ve ever seen these little guys for myself since I never really looked out for them, but they are such a beautiful colour! I especially like how the pattern on their back looks like a heart 🖤
✨Yes! I caught a Horned Hercules! Guess I was stronger! Whenever I see bugs now all I can think of is animal Crossing dialogue and when I’ll be able to sell them to Flick.

B u g g✨ the beetle from yesterday is complete! This guy was a time to paint. I think it was because of all the colours blending together but with the help of water and a lot of salt, I think it went alright 👌 .

Friend shaped 🥰 yellow is an interesting colour to try and paint with because it’s so bright, but I think it looks good on this happy little beetle friend ☺️ there’s a bunch of these types of beetles with all sorts of different patterns and colours too! Very cute friends

The first of the mini originals is done! This 5 spotted ladybird is 3"x3" and will need a home soon :) I’ll keep you updated on the status of the other mini canvas originals (hopefully will start a moth one today👀) when they are ready I’ll post the details and have them up on Etsy ☺️

Speckled Wood Butterfly 🦋 what a lovely October friend! Have you seen any of these butterflies where you live? Ive been seeing lots of little yellow and white butterflies, even a few monarchs but as the weather gets cooler they’ve been coming around less. I’ve added shimmer to his wings so he catches the sun 🌞 .
