yall are just chilling on the couch one afternoon, scrolling through your phones, as you do, when out of nowhere he just goes, “Y/N LET’S MAKE BREAD!”

you didn’t bother asking because that’s just how your boyfriend is and you haven’t baked in a while so you agreed. the moment you do he’s ecstatic, more than you thought he’d be... but he’s cute so he gets a pass.

you ask him to help get the ingredients and the utensils but for some reason none of the cups or measuring spoons were out on the counter even though you asked for them.

bokuto thinks you can just eyeball the ingredients because the two of you “can do anything together”

“bo, measurements are literally one of the most important parts of baking, and no, we cannot throw everything in at the same time–”

“you sound like kuroo.”

he can’t help but stare and admire your sunlit face as he hands you the ingredients and you mix them into the bowl.

when you notice, your face starts turning red but bokuto thinks it’s because you’re starting to get tired.

“babe, are you tired?” he suddenly asks out of worry. he quickly takes the spoon and bowl from your hands with a kiss on the forehead, “i’ll take it from here!”

this accomplishes to just fluster you more.  *flirt 100* 

he would try to show off his strength when kneading the dough and would definitely end up overworking the dough as a result.

you give him a kiss on the cheek to cheer him up about messing up while he stares at the lump on the kitchen counter and pouts.

he chooses to just back hug you while you knead the rest of the batch yourself because neither of you trust him to try again with a different ball of dough,

“oh, so that’s how you do it.”

you have to try and explain why he has to wait for the dough to rise instead of throwing it in the oven immediately.

“so you’re telling me this yeast stuff is alive?”

“kind of, but it’s more like–”

“um yeah okay sure. i'm skeptical, but i trust you babe!” he says as he blindly shrugs and enthusiastically slams the towel onto the metal bowl without any need of further convincing. ‘it’s the thought that counts,’ you tell yourself as you realize boredom must have really gotten to bokuto today.

30 minutes later, you two are back in the kitchen with flour on the counter and if you weren’t covered in patches of flour already, you certainly are now. bokuto’s just kind of given up on the whole baking thing now and just loves the time he’s spending with you.

“you have a little bit of flour on your nose, babe. let me get that for you.”

“YOU’RE JUST GETTING MORE FLOUR ON MY FACE BO STOP”

you take the bread out after it’s finished baking because god forbid bokuto ever did it. he could’ve used his bare hands for all you knew.

once you cut into the loaf, you’re both filled with pride because it legitimately looks like bread.

you each try some and it’s actually edible bread. wow...... you couldn’t believe it–

“wow, baby! you’re really good at this baking thing!” he says before biting off another piece of his slice happily.

“you helped me.”

“nope, it was all you babe. but that’s fine. honestly, i don’t know what i’d do without you.”
