Stiles gets it. He’s single, his dad is working and Lydia is out of town with her mother - who better to go on a stakeout on New Year’s Eve than him? Scott wants to celebrate with Kira, all romantic and shit, and Liam is going to a party with Hayden, Mason, and Corey. There’s not really anybody else left who’d bother with a chore like that. 

Well, nobody aside from Theo who is just as fucked and lonely as Stiles.

It’s not exactly how he imagined his evening to turn out. Going into the new year with Theo next to him, sitting in his car in the middle of the woods until Scott relieves them in the early morning hasn’t been on his mind. Then again, it’s probably still better than being by himself on a day like this. 

Theo, to his surprise, comes prepared with fireworks and vodka. He calls it a peace offering. Stiles doesn’t trust any of it, but when the night grows older and nothing at all is happening, he accepts his fate. Before he knows it, the night takes yet another unexpected turn. He probably should’ve anticipated something like that since Theo isn’t particularly subtle, and Stiles’ resistance has been dwindling in the last few weeks - since the day Theo almost kissed him during yet another stakeout the two suffered through together to be exact. 

Stiles: I hate you.

Theo: Nah, you don’t.

I know what you mean, I always make sure to get a perfect Destroy ending so that my Shepard survives. I have never chosen any other ending.

I think the thing that bugs me most about anything but a perfect Destroy ending is that Shepard is revived only to die again. And I just, really think that’s so horrible. Shepard deserves better.

When Donovan turns away for whatever reason, Stiles has no intention of waiting to see if this is either a ruse or if he’s about to change his mind. If the guy gives him an opening, the appropriate response is to take it. Sure, Stiles isn’t always known for sensible decisions seeing that he has attacked his fair share of supernatural creatures much stronger than him with a baseball bat, but how does the saying go? Even a broken clock is right twice a day. Couldn’t fit him any better. With the amount of terrible ideas he has on a regular basis, he’s gotta luck out now and then. He just has to find Brett or Isaac or Liam. One of them will do the trick. At least until Donovan knows how strong he really is. Which he hopefully hasn’t figured out since their last unfortunate encounter. 

Stiles glances over his shoulder, just to make sure Donovan doesn’t prepare to jump him because he turned away like an idiot. He can’t believe he’s that lucky. Here he thought he jumped out of the frying pan and into the fire. Ha, suck on that, karma.

But it seems as if Donovan does know people here. In fact, he’s talking to the dude who gave Stiles the drugs. Oh , oh no. For some reason, it never occurred to him that it’s not impossible to have friends from other schools. Lori is friends with Hayden and Sydney. Brett is on his best way to become buddies with him. Why did it never occur to him that Donovan has friends, even some who are still going to high school? The guy is two years older than Stiles. He graduated last year. Of course , he knows people his age. 

Fuck.
