So Let Me Clarify This For You To Not Fall Into Conservative Propaganda:
So let me clarify this for you to not fall into conservative propaganda:
Latinx isn’t a slur, but it also isn’t the preferred term for us.
The hate this word gets is hella amplified by white conservatives, but most of the real dislike just lies in the fact that it’s not grammatically correct and weird to pronounce. Kinda feels like an American appropriation of the language, since x isn’t that much of a common letter in Latin based languages.
It’s more common to use the word Latino that is already gender neutral, but if you are educated on languages debates in Latin based languages and ends up preferring a totally gender neutral word, use Latine. It fits better, phonetically speaking and is less controversial.
Disclaimer:
I’m saying this as a brazillian, born and raised my entire life there.
I’m not tolerating transphobia, won’t argue with little attention seekers. Immediate block.

And it’s not just media with flawed characters and darker themes.
Queer media that has more fluff, like Heartstopper gets criticized by the same people, who say it’s too wholesome, unrealistic and that automatically means the author is homophobic and fetichizes the characters (even when the author is queer).
Point is, there is no winning with queer media, it’s never good enough. There should be more skepticism when it comes to media critiques, critics aren’t and shouldn’t be authorities that dictate whether or not a piece of media is good representation. Especially when they put themselves in a higher position and bash the ones who enjoy it all while purposely misinterpreting said media.
We aren’t jerks for liking and feeling properly represented by certain pieces of media.
Something that I learned about queer media: nothing will never be enough. The stupiest reasons will cause people to create a witch hunt against authors and accuse them of real bigotry. "Your representation didn't go exactly as I wanted, therefore you are a monster and a real danger to real people."
If your media has flawless heroic little puppies queers, it's trash and horrible and liking it makes you a terrible person. If your queer characters are not flawless heroic little puppies, then they're evil and you hate queer people (even if you are queer yourself).
It's sad that the same people preaching about love and acceptance are the same and first ones to attack and harrass queer creators and built unsafe space for people that love and relate to flawed characters. And I'm not even entering the anti-sex positivity discussion and how liking porn and including it in your stories is bad and fetishization and dirty, some "progressive" people have the same views as alt right boomers
Lets just stop with this one of the good ones thing, it`s getting ridiculous.
LGBT in fighting is fucking dumb and I’m super tired of yall’s stupidity. The fascists who run the government do not care that you are “Not like the other queers”. The fascists do not care that you hates it when bisexual women are taking their straight boyfriends to pride. The fascists do not care that you are a gay person who hates trans people with a passion. The fascists do not care that you are a trans person who hates non-binary people with a passion. The fascists do not care that you are a queer person who bullies 12 year old kids on tik tok who use fox/foxself pronouns and identify as fox gender. Hating each other will not make the homophobes go away. I don’t care how many times you say “But these people in the community make everyone else in the community look bad.” Fascists think we are all the same they will not single any of us out just because some of us have the same opinions as the fascists/Alt right. They are not passing anti trans laws because some trans people are too loud and cringey they are doing it because they hate all trans people. They are not passing anti gay laws because some gay people are too loud and cringey they are doing it because they hate gay people. FASCISTS DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOUR OPINIONS THEY WILL KILL YOU REGARDLESS! FASCISTS DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOUR OPINION THEY WILL KILL YOU REGARDLESS! FASCISTS DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOUR OPINION THEY WILL KILL YOU REGARDLESS! Do you understand me?

Yeah, it sucks. I think one of the main problems in that fandom is full of minors who are still developing their critical thinking skills (and I say this as a 17 year old who started watching the show at 15). Most are just regurgitating Vivziepop hater’s talking points without much substance and nuance to it.
Not that adults can’t get sucked into bad talking points, but I feel like it’s easier when you are younger and less experienced. That’s how I got sucked into anti woke YouTube some years ago. For the record I never identified as a right wing or harassed anyone, but I thought all lives matter kind of bullshit were valid criticisms that should be acknowledged. Dark times.
I empathize with some of these people, but considering how many cross the line of basic respect and decency, I’m more than willing to speak out against them.

What annoys me about debates about Hazbin Hotel and Heartstopper is how people conveniently forget to mention that the creators are lgbt when they claim they are fetichizing gay men.
I get it, fujoshis can be lgbt, but being part of the community actually adds a lot of context to their narrative decisions.
Why does Hazbin Hotel have so many lgbt characters? Maybe that’s because the creators wants to represent herself and her community, not because she finds them hot or whatever.
Why do the characters from Heartstopper seem so sexless? Maybe it’s because the creator doesn’t feel sexual attraction and her experiences reflect in the work, not because she wants to write uwu fluff perfect gays.
If you wanna argue about whether or not it’s good representation, fine, but not acknowledging the creator’s orientation feels like a really scummy tactic in these kinds of debates.
Edit: Note how both Vivzie and Alice have orientations that are very often ignored and deemed as “not queer enough” in the lgbt community (bisexual and aroace respectively).
I ditched my “friends” for ignoring and excluding me for over a year and now I’m sharing a room in my last school trip with a group of girls I barely know.
Although stressing due to autism, it’s always interesting to meet other people, because their world vision can be way different from yours.
Basically these girls were talking about first kisses, personally I don’t care a lot about that (and never kissed anyone), but they were talking about it as if it was the most important thing in the world.
One of them started to get sad because she never kissed anyone and then asked if she can even find another wlw girl in our school.
I was there thinking like, you already found one I’m here, but I think I’m too far into the asexual spectrum for you to find me interesting.
