[ID: 4 Panel comic with Sam Mason and Danny Fenton from the cartoon Danny Phantom. Sam is on the left side of each panel and is colored in monochrome purple. She has chin-length dark hair and wears a gothic blouse with elbow length sleeves. Danny is on the right side of each panel and is colored in monochrome blue. He has long bangs and wears a short sleeved hoodie; his right hand is bandaged. They are in a classroom; behind them the background is a pale grayish lavender with bookshelves, a globe, a clock and a crate.

Panel 1: Sam is writing in a notebook, head resting on her hand. Danny yawns and is reaching for something to the right side of the panel

Panel 2: Danny, eyes barely open, opens a drink can with a "crack" sound effect. To the right of him are 3 packets. Sam doesn't move positions but the noises catches her attention, her eyes glance to Danny.

Panel 3: Danny tears open the packets, which have an arrow pointing to them saying "Caffeine packets" and pours them into the drink can, which has an arrowing pointing to it saying "energy drink". Sam looks at him with a slightly concerned and incredulous expression

Panel 4: Zoomed in. Danny drinks the mix, with just the can, his hand and mouth visible in the foreground. Sam looks on with a disgusted and shocked expression. The letters "wtf" next to her head. /END ID]

*slowly shuffles a wooden box of finger bones towards you* so I have two ideas for you

So, what if ghosts like, really screw with video technology, so it all kind of looks corrupted at all times- so when Danny starts recording like a blog of daily like in amity park (maybe as a way to cope with Trauma) and he posts it, maybe people outside of amity could think it’s all just like, an ARG or analog horror- if you want to go with dc/dp here, tim could be trying to solve a nonexistent mystery

For idea two, do you know ab the mystery flesh pit? If you don’t it’s basically an unreality where a gigantic super organism is turned into a National park and it’s then shit down when the organism basically coughs in its sleep and destroys a lot of stuff-( also be warned, there is a lot of body horror involved in this, so if anyone’s sensitive to it maybe don’t look at any content!) so maybe Giant Danny is taking a nap and some villains find the GIANT GHOST TAKING A SLEEP and decide to hook him up to be used as like, a battery or Lazerus pit (if you go the route of his blood being lazerus water) and the heroes get involved trying to figure out what’s happening

oh man that would be so fun. Danny just takes a little school project 10 minute documentary of the town and doesn't think too much of it when he submits it to Youtube so he can send it to his teacher.

A week later and every ARG/Analog Horror nerd on the planet has heard about this brilliantly well produced video called "Amity Park"

Now knowing this, He decides to have some fun. He takes ominous shots of mundane Amity life and splices them between the more normal scenes of himself and his friends having fun and hanging out.

He amps up the uncanny level. Throughout all of his videos, he starts to tell a slightly dramatized version of his life, not the Phantom stuff, but his life as a Fenton.

The whole world watches in awe and delight as this refreshingly new Analog Horror channel posts nearly twice a week with some of the most stunning CGI that they've ever seen. I mean 'c'mon, Sentient food. A child living in the house of two mad scientists who casually mention dismembering and destroying ghosts at the dinner table. An honest to god crazy scientist lab with a massive portal to this 'Ghost Zone' just in their basement?! Yeah, whoever made this has an absolutely incredible imagination. (Some people are even dissing it since this GZ really just feels like a warped version of The Backrooms but it's fine, it's unique enough that it makes up for it.)

------

I am a hoe for any and every topic that Wendigoon talks about in his videos so I very much so know about the Mystery Flesh Pit. (Video is linked but be warned; Benji isn't joking when they say that it's a LOT of body horror.)

I'd like to propose that Danny isn't even on earth, he's on a different planet that has collected his blood and harnessed his core for energy on a massive scale, helping create and produce items that benefit their world greatly.

To Danny, Their mining, harvesting, and energy draining efforts are the equivalent to bacteria moving around his body. He's so massive that this civilization isnt impacting him in the slightest.

The JL get called because this strange planet superorganism is now moving and it's causing the destruction of an entire civilization.

They fly over to the planet and they notice something very very wrong with the shape of the planet.

First and foremost, the two eyes spanning the equivalent width of Texas that stares up at their ship is new.

Danny Phantom Hanahaki AU were Blood Blossoms are made through the process of a ghost suffering of Hanahaki.

Like instead of dying of it like living people it consumes their core and and turns them into a patch of Blood Blossoms, and the reason it's so dangerous to ghosts is because the Blood Blossoms are born of all that pain and desperation and loneliness that was strong enough to kill something already dead

Every time Conan says “I will let you go this time because of [x]”, I want to reach through the screen, squish his smug lil face and softly yell at him that he lets KID get away every time. E-v-e-r-y-t-i-m-e.

Just. Be honest with yourself, Shinichi. You don’t actually want him behind bars. You haven’t tried to seriously arrest him since the Black Star case. And even there, you deliberately fucked it up by wanting to spend alone time with him.

I mean, seriously, genuinely, he hasn’t tried to actually, actively catch KID even once so far.

Black Star heist #1 (on the roof-top): He has KID’s location but instead of alerting the police first, he goes there alone so he can talk to KID and “see his face” that’s gay, Shinichi

Black Star heist #2 (on the ship): He figured out KID was posing as Ran and instead of alerting the police, or anyone, or exposing KID in public, he lures him away so they can talk one-on-one. Again. Once more giving KID the opportunity to sneak off

And those were the times where he was… at least trying to catch KID. In very twisted and failed ways, because he wants to go all alone and that’s how KID gets away. But he was trying.

After that very first heist, he just straight-up gives up on trying with flimsy excuses and I love him for it, I really do, but he needs to stop pretending that he actually wants to arrest KID. He knows he doesn’t. Haibara knows he doesn’t. KID knows he doesn’t - I mean, KID literally does, otherwise he wouldn’t spend his time lingering about, waiting for Conan’s usual expositional deductions.

Magic Lover’s Murder Case: “Well, you didn’t actually steal anything and despite still being an internationally wanted criminal, I will let you go because you didn’t steal anything this time, I guess” - Shinichi, a very serious detective who is very serious about putting criminals away who committed crimes even when they are not currently actively in the middle of committing said crimes (seriously, that is his whole spiel. To catch murderers. After they murdered). Unless it’s KID, in that case, we have to let him go if he doesn’t do anything actively criminal :/

Last Wizard of the Century #1 (at the castle): KID saved his live. So letting him fly off only seems fair, right? That’s how that works. If a criminal saves your life, you let them go.

Last Wizard of the Century #2 (at the detective agency): KID only dropped by for the sole purpose of covering for Shinichi’s secret, so it would actually be unfair to tranq him now, I will give him that one.

The Gathered Detectives: Despite having figured out that KID was posing as Kogoro like… probably ten minutes into their stay at the mansion, he let KID get away with it because… again… not actively committing any crimes and you just don’t arrest an internationally wanted criminal outside of him committing a crime, that would just be rude.

The Crystal Mother: KID is actually, actively in the middle of a heist here, but Conan rather busies himself with worrying about KID’s safety and not actually with… worrying about capturing KID.

Miraculous Midair Walk: Again, figured out really early into the stint who KID was posing as, but did nothing about it. Did actively try to dart KID this time though… after going on a lil joyride with KID, so nice half-hearted attempt on that one.

Magician of the Silver Sky #1 (on the roof-top): Just straight up stops running and stands several feet away from KID, giving him every chance to fly off if he so desired (which he doesn’t, because KID likes spending time with him. So KID just… stands there, on the rooftop, waiting for him). Afterward, he does try to tranq KID, to his credit, but… only after actively seeking KID’s attention, which has proven to mean you won’t get him. Self-sabotaging once more and pretending like he’s really trying.

Magician of the Silver Sky #2 (the plane): Okay, that is the one where KID legitimately got away, on his own account. By jumping out of the crashing plane. Still, Shinichi wouldn’t have arrested him because 1.) didn’t actively steal anything this time again and, once more 2.) saved Shinichi’s life. Both the big “I’ll let you go this time” excuses.

The Eccentric Mansion: Yet again the excuses of not having stolen anything and having actively saved Shinichi (and the Detective Boys) are used as reasons why he doesn’t arrest KID.

(That’s how far I’ve gotten in my current rewatch. Pretty sure the pattern continues like that in the rest of the cases but don’t 100% remember the details, so let’s take these as sample sizes for now.)

Look, I admire the gentlemanly nature of not arresting someone after they save your life, but it kind of isn’t related to the crimes at hand. And the fact that he’s not actively stealing something during a perfect opening to arrest him doesn’t exactly negate any crimes of the past, something this detective most definitely knows but elects to ignore, only when it comes to KID though.

It’ll just never stop being hilarious to me that Conan still pretends like he is actively trying to capture KID when he has deliberately let him go 70% of the time and indirectly sabotaged his own chances of actually capturing him 20% of the time. That’s not how you catch criminals - and it’s made much more hilarious by the fact that this is our titular detective, who never lets any criminal he usually chases get away and solves every case. Sure, sure, murder is worse than stealing jewelry from rich people, but the detective principle still stands and the contrast of the behavior is overwhelming.
