Julian, looking at this pessimistic, closed off, paranoid, Cardassian: "I can fix him."
Garak, looking at this optimistic, trusting, excitable Starfleet doctor: "I can fix him."
it IS true that deep space nine is very much in conversation with the next generation and you should probably watch the latter before seeing the former to get everything it's trying to get across, but, on occasion, watching ds9 without having seen tng is extremely funny

Cute story from Wil Wheaton about Brent and his shenanigans 🥰

SPOCK | STAR TREK: THE ORIGINAL SERIES - 1.27 Errand of Mercy
there are 3 sides to the Spirk fandom:
- absolutely drop-dead, gorgeous and majestic fan-arts that not even a famous painting could ever compete with
- beautifully done and well-written AUs/amazing headcanons
- “it should’ve been called Kock instead of Spirk”

I just think they're neat
genuinely baffled after watching the end of Hit ds9 episode “The Wire”
Julian being like “i would like to hear the truth about you, Garak” and Garak replying like “lollll bashir!! It’s all true! :33 especially all those times I Lied!!” THEN JULIAN JUST LIKE FONDLY GRINS AT HIM?? BE MORE NORMAL
“Which fictional universe would you rather live in—“ Star Trek. Star Trek. There is a correct answer and it’s Star Trek. “I want to have cool adventures—“ Star Trek. “I want to live in high tech but ethical peace and comfort” Star Trek. “I want to be a psychic alien—“ Star Trek. “But I want to do magic—“ do you know how much weird magic shit happens in Star Trek. Also Star Trek has holodecks you can pretend to be in Lord of the Rings or Star Wars or whatever and then come home to your usually peaceful interstellar community. There are basically no downsides to living in the Star Trek universe if you take the assumption that you remain you, a human living on Earth. You can join Starfleet or you can stay home and enjoy fully automated luxury gay space communism. The answer is Star Trek.
Thinking about how Julian and Garak have all the reasons in the world to avoid each other. Garak is from a xenophobic culture that despises outsiders and he also views sentiment as the worst of weaknesses. Julian's augment status is a massive, life-ruining secret that likely only someone as suspicious as Garak would notice.
Yet they are drawn to each other every scene they're in together. Because they just can't help it. Something compelling about what queer repression looks like in a sci fi setting.

idk this has probably been done before but the idea was making me laugh

The only daxshir dynamic I accept
just found some new Nog lore...

Edit: it appears this is an excerpt from Strange New Worlds, Volume 3, an anthology of fan written Trek short stories, which was titled “The Bottom Line”

yes, he would except- im pretty sure he was never an ensign, just starfleet medical on earth straight to CMO in deep space.

do y’all think Bashir was an insufferable ensign because I can absolutely see him as being an annoying little guy who you can’t help but love
I personally think garashir would fuck for a decade, know all of each other's secrets, live together and get married. But still not know where they stand in the relationship. Like an "am I having your baby as a friend?" type of disaster gay situation
people say bashir is in the closet??? have they SEEN the man???
Some people say Bashir is in the closet, in denial about his gay thoughts, but honestly given Star Trek is supposed to be set in a super progressive future then, (ignoring inevitable attitudes of the time it was written) I don't think he's in denial of his sexuality.
I think it's far more likely that he's on a Bajoran space station and is dealing with the sudden realisation that he is deeply attracted to suspicious morally ambiguous Cardassians.
bitch, same
I WISH ROMANTIC FEELINGS HAD A REAL FUCKING DEFINITION!!!!!
"Butterflies in your tummy" I get that every time I talk to anyone because I'm an anxious wreck
"Ohh you get all blushy" I blush whenever I remember literally any compliment from anyone. I blush when someone says I blink robotically. I blush when I remember that time my driving instructor said I went through a stop sign correctly.
"You get nervous when thinking about them" I'm always nervous.
WHAT THE FUCK!!!!!!!!
*amused chuckling*

An aroace pride flag?

PERRY THE AROACE PRIDE FLAG??
SPOILERS FOR LATER SEASONS OF DS9

Julian’s character development goes crazy

Julian being hit by the brick wall that is that he wants the strange Cardassian tailor who is almost certainly a spy and is like, 10 years older than him. I don’t think that was on his Star Fleet bingo card when he signed up.
Thinking about where the line between lies and storytelling sits with Garak. How trauma (especially childhood trauma) forces you to morph your life into stories to tell the truth when the facts are too all encompassing and terrible for you to face.
Thinking about the queerness inherent to Garak and Bashir's book club. The way they interrogate the subtext of their books the way only queer people can, when the realities of our lives are rendered unspeakable by homophobia.
The way they dance around each other, creating a hidden story within the story - the truth of their relationship too large and unforgivable. Queer repression as text becoming repression subtext. An ouroboros of enforced shame. It remains hidden but in doing so, reveals some new truth. Neither knows who they are without the obfuscation they have worn for so long that it has become their face.

i know css-
