Macdennis Spoiler (probably)
Macdennis Spoiler (probably)
After whatever events bring them together to act on their feelings, Mac and Dennis will be shown sharing a look, one then the other, at the line “in my heart, in my soul” where the song “You’re the Inspiration” left off from the season 9 rat trap scene, and as the song picks up at the next line “..baby” Dennis will be the one to make the first move on Mac.
After having a totally sweet and finally reciprocated moment, they lovingly pause to smile at each other, have a wordless conversation of meaningful suggestive smirks during the triumphant guitar riffs, then a quick cut to a shot of a door clicking shut at the drums, and the credits roll over the rest of that part of the song, punctuated on beat to the sound of them finally banging from the other room.

mac and new dennis
oh my gosh I just looked it up I didn’t KNOW the purple guy was charlie : ) thanks!
What came to mind for me was recently finding that Andrew Scott who often plays dark/serious roles narrated a CBeebies show
seeing actors from tv shows you like in kids content and animated movies and whatever is never not weird
Oh my gosh I just realised that the car from the trailer might be Dennis’ dark green range rover ( :0

Love how you put this.
i don’t know exactly how to phrase it but like… a big part of the charm of iasip for me is how there’s a lot of nuance and not a lot of subtext, if that makes sense?
things that could easily be subtextual – the characters’ trauma and ow it affects them, as a very broad example, or mac being in love with dennis, as a more specific example – is straight up acknowledged within the show (in a way thats Good and not hamfisted)
but then those things splinter out into more detailed bits and pieces and fragments of character’s more specific behaviors and such
the big pieces aren’t subtle but there’s still levels of subtlety in a way that’s just overall really well done
It’s neat how Charlie Day’s character in Monsters University shares a lot of elements with Charlie Kelly:
Keeping a dream journal
Defending his hobby of spending time in the sewers
Overall wild card personality
Adaptable
Appreciates school dances and has signature dance moves
