There Wont Be An Episode Where Dennis Comes Back To Philly On His Own, Because Instead The Gang Goes

There won’t be an episode where Dennis comes back to Philly on his own, because instead the gang goes to North Dakota to find and bring him back because they can’t put up with Mac

If anyone was wondering, this is the song in the iasip season 13 trailer (Alles Neu by Peter Fox)

The lyrics and style definitely complement the show.

It’s neat how Charlie Day’s character in Monsters University shares a lot of elements with Charlie Kelly:

Keeping a dream journal

Defending his hobby of spending time in the sewers

Overall wild card personality

Adaptable

Appreciates school dances and has signature dance moves

I’m totally on your side, Sunny’s so thoughtfully written and acted that the seeds are placed along the way for it to be possible to accurately predict and understand the mysteries. When Mac and Dennis become explicitly romantic for however long of course it would be cleverly imperfect (and now I want it to end up in the way you explain) because one of the themes of the show is that you can never be entirely happy in achieving any dream (Mac’s/Dennis’ dreams for what they each want in a relationship & maybe this is reflected in the viewers’ hopes too for seeing any of them completely succeed if they ever get close to reaching their goals, like macdennis actually making them both of them happy). Thank you for your attention to these purposeful details, I think your analysis is excellent!!!

Maybe him getting so ripped is an even further compensation, now that he is confidently publically gay, of his subsection of gay? Or a subversion of the sterotype of “twink” being thin and small?

Since Mac’s not gone to therapy to specifically “realign his sexual orientation” maybe if he doesn’t like sex with Dennis as much as he thought he would, it causes him to doubt how gay he really is, and in a crisis attends some sort of conversion group, in order to check that aspect of the description off, providing even more unnecessary turmoil in doubling...no tripling back like that for hilarity’s sake (going from exponentially absurd denial of his homosexuality, to acceptance and pride, to acceptance of its existence but wanting to get rid of it once it doesn’t work with Dennis like he’d imagined).

I’d want Mac to break the other members of the conversion group out in some flawed silly way or persuade them with slightly problematic logic of how it’s not needed once he realises for himself again, the point of Mac having a reason to question yet again being to explore every angle of how these characters can be put through extra drama and for us be exasperated but entertained with how they keep stumbling.

It makes the most sense to me after your explanation for them to bank on and *recycle* what was said in these memorable scenes of the same episode. To connect them to describing Mac, his future sexual [in]compatibility with Dennis, and it resulting in something like a role reversal would be so funny and compelling - Dennis becoming the more clingy of the two in wanting a positive review and to keep enjoying the only fulfilling sexual relationship he’s ever had, and Mac deflecting like you say from wanting to distance himself from disappointment while in a new chapter of internal confusion. What a mess!

Though, I like to think Mac would still be kind and sensitive in letting Dennis know about his sexual expectations, as kind as he could be, after putting ‘so much of his heart into their relationship’ haha It wouldn’t feel quite right for Mac’s character to ever not love the guy :) It’s Dennis who wouldn’t be able to handle that critique well, if anything, no matter how nicely the unsatisfactory review of his performance was put (despite him admitting the fact himself that he wouldn’t be able to satisfy being how we learn this, in the same way he and Mac would pretend in order to be intimate before Mac came out, it’s more comfortable when it’s kept hypothetical).

Whatever happens this is all going to be a wild ride and I am super hyped.

Y’all I’ve blown the case wide open

Ok so in The Gang Recycles Their Trash, Dee has her iconic speech about the different subsections of gay people. And what does she say are the characteristics of a twank versatile?

“It’s very difficult to maintain the lifestyle of a twank versatile ‘cause this often leads to a lot of self-hatred and denial, especially among the religious or political types. So they try and realign their sexual orientation through therapy.”

Hmmmm someone religious who’s in denial about their sexuality and constantly tried to present themselves as straight now who does that sound like???

That’s right y’all: Mac is a twank versatile. This is obviously hilarious because it means that Mac is a combination twink and skank, which is very in-character for this dumb asshole, but it doesn’t stop there oH NO. Because what does Dennis say when he is asked to have sex with a twank versatile?

“Ooh, I wouldn’t be able to satisfy him. A twank versatile? That’s impressive!”

So, heres the theory my dudes:

Dennis and Mac are going to bang. Now there’s really no telling when exactly this could happen but, when they do, Mac is going to be completely dissatisfied, never wanting to do it again. However, the sex will be great for Dennis because it’s going to be the first time he’s ever banged someone he’s been truly close to. So, afterwards Dennis will be totally hung up on Mac and constantly want to bang him and Mac will be not into him at all, thus reversing their roles as Dennis being the one pining and Mac the one deflecting the other’s feelings.

TL;DR: The Gang Recycles Their Trash is foreshadowing for future episodes where a macdennis bang happens, resulting in Mac being unsatisfied by Dennis, causing him to lose interest in the man he’s been pining for for over 20 years
