Back to Gen 1 - Gorgen. She underwent quite a redesign.

G. is Ruki's sister, they even come from the same litter (she inherited her mother's slender figure, while her brother resembles their sire). The pride they come from was a cruel and ruthless one: the adolescents had to go through a brutal ritual to get a member status and gain the elders' recognition. Something went terribly wrong with Gorgen and Ruki, with the latter having to defend the lioness with his life. They both fled at the same moment, but Gorgen got quickly captured - the missing tail and scars on ther thighs remind her of that moment. The black-maned male was sure he will never see his beloved sister again, but when he saw her many years later as the unwilling bride of a small clan's king, he rescued her and brought her to The Burnt Forest. She is a fierce huntress - she tries her best to balance her movements with the short tail she has. Gorgen is also quite funny and easy-going, in the contrary to her ironic, always angry brother.. She later becomes best friends with Zakia. Johari's mate, dam to Ardhi and Hazel, Kii's grandmother (a title she shares with her bff Zakia, lol). Gorgen and artwork (c) @MadKakerlaken

P.S.: I'm planning to release a family tree of the Burning Blood Pride, so that it's easier to follow the connections. It's not a big one, since there are only 3 gens so far, but I'm not planning to do any more characters. I just want to concentrate on drawing the OCs I already have!

Hazel - son of Johari and Gorgen, Ardhi's brother, Asaya's mate. He is of average size for a lion, which is typical to the Burning Blood Pride (where Johari comes from), but inherited a bigger mane and muscular build after Gorgen's sire*. He is shy, but after getting to know others he blooms to be a great, funny companion. Artwork (c) @MadKakerlaken *I will probably doodle Ruki and Gorgen's sire, to show where it comes from! But, ofc, you can already see the fluffiness and strong build on Ruki's ref sheet.

Another Burning Blood here: Johari, the pride's sunshine and joy incarnate. Totally, 100% happy all the time. Goofy. A bit of an idiot, sometimes. Border patrol is his passion, especially when he gets to talk to Ruki about his day and how the sun is shining so nicely and that, hey, the grass there looks weird, and did you see how she looked at me two days ago? and... and... and. He is that one, overly enthusiastic friend, that is fun to have around, but is a bit too much sometimes. I can totally see how he aproaches Gorgen* for the first time with a big smile and the tail lifted high: "Oh, hi, I'm Johari! Your brother's best friend! I can be your friend, too!!!" <3 The stripe on his mane got shorter, plus I wanted to change his character a little bit - the Burning Blood Pride has enough of stoic, cranky, stubborn lions and needs a Golden Retriever boy among them, heh. Wolfram, son of Zakia and Akili. Theoretically the next ruler of The Burning Blood, in fact the title went directly to his daughter after Zakia's passing. He is rather quiet, stoic, very philosophical, reserved. Old ref sheet here.

Another remade reference sheet! Asaya - Barbora's niece, who came with her from the south to Zakia's pride. Longer fur and stout stature are typical to their former home, where harsh, cold climate made it not easy to live. Her family fled their homelands during a horrible famine. The trip to the Burnt Forest costed Asaya's father his life. She is quite reserved with contact to others, but is also very polite and helpful to others. Calmness in any situation is one of her strengths; it's also how she won Hazel's heart and became his mate. Older versions from 2012 and 2013.

Now, queen of the Burnt Forest - Zakia of Burning Blood. Zakia took over her father's nearly wiped-out pride after a tedious fight with him. Rebuilding the pride took a lot of time and required discipline, strength and bravery. She is a consequent, but loving ruler, who will go to great lengths to secure a bright futures for her pridemembers. The Burnt Forest bloomed once again under her rule. I really need to catch up with drawing refs for new characters and remake those of older OCs... That will be a long process seeing my "love" to digital art. Anyway, Barbora! The big, fluffy lioness, originally coming from the South Peaks, who settled in the Burnt Forest with Zakia's Burning Blood Pride.

He gets the blue and red feathers when he is 5-6 years old, the green ones are with him since he was an adolescent. 3. Manesha, Damaja and Busara's son. 4. A random juvenile lion. 5. Smiling Ruki! A rare sight. 6. Sarabi with her second son, Henear. (btw, I was thinking about his father... I'm not a big fan on The Lion Guard and don't really want to put it into my "canon", but Henear's sire was a member of the Night Pride. The Tree of Life heard rumors about the dire situation in the Pridelands and send one of their members to check that out. It's just a draft, I don't have the whole story yet, but I think he won Sarabi's heart and tried to get help from the Tree of Life, which cost him his life.) 7. Yes, I know the proportions are off - just wanted to picture an idea of mine :) Enjoying Janthir Wilds so far! One of the things that I got to loooove is the elementalist spear, and that I wanted to blend with my "canon". Here is Kat Warfire, the overdramatic self-called Flame Legion Overlord, Preserver of the Old Ways, etc. That guy is a powerful fire shaman, ruling mainly over fire, only sometimes using his knowledge of the earth and air elements to create deadly firestorms. He wields a staff - as long as the in-game Flamewaker, but with its ending in the shape similar to the Flame Dominion Torch. Not only can he conjure Fireballs or Meteor Showers, but also use it as a spear*. *aka in my canon, he can use his weapon (aaaand his magic!) to use skills from both staff and spear

Henear and Vitani, bc I've been rewatching Simba's Pride a lot lately and I ship those guys sooooo hard. Funny - I've drawn them together only once, thirteen years ago.

Here they are, two odd souls who finally found each other. /I'm in this part of fandom who headcanon's Vitani as bi. Henear is demi./

Henear's last character sheet was done 2012, here an update! My OC, son of Sarabi and a rogue lion (who tried to sneak into the Pridelands and challenge Scar), born not long before Simba's takeover. I totally ship him with Vitani :3

Ghali scolding the king of Pridelands for coming to him for help... He is the leader of the Kiburi Pride, living in the Elephant Graveyard looooong before the plot of the movie.

(I always liked these "fake screenshots" other artists do, I think I need to try it out more often!)
