Ruki got a greatly deserved and much needed update on his character sheet :) There are some small changes, like the colors of the mane and the ear fluff, plus his mane is more "compact" now.

Note to Ruki - I darkened his mane color and used the "dark fur color" on his ears instead of the nose color, his character sheet is also not up to date. (....need a new one........)

Here we go again~

1. Volundr, an old character. I still won't use him, but I wanted to practice drawing some other body types than big bulky lions. 2. Damaja, my favorite bastard, here at 8 years of age. The older he is, the more feathers he gets. 3. Concept of a design for Tali, soon-to-be-member of the same pride Damaja is (Magharibi pride) from a small private role-play I write with my buddies. 4. Nuru, Damaja's twin brother. I was SURE I won't draw Rani because I didn't like her design, but...  I saw a few fantastic pictures of her on dA and I realised it wasn't her design I hated, but the style of the animation. And by that I mean the EYES. Wtf?? So, here she is, Queen Rani of the Tree of Life.

More or less time-consuming doodles from January 2024. 1. A few of my favorite characters from the original Król Lew PBF - taking place in The Pridelands region after Kiara and Kovu's reign. All of those OCs are over 10 years old... - Kat Malay - small,  feisty, cynical healer from the Outlands. Very feisty, very annoying. My first serious role-play character, first created in 2009, last drawn... probably here.  - Lavi - a sweet, good-hearted guy. Too bad he was the leader of a rather neutral-bad-ish pride and he hated it to the bone. - Moran - oooooh, another man from the top! Seriously, writing his storyline was one of the most intense events in my life. Adopted son of a charismatic leader, Moran grew through the ranks of the Scarlet Dawn pride until he himself sat on the throne. - Ornareni - once a cheerful lioness, who gave up her sanity for getting demonic powers - to better serve her beloved pride. (yea, these are horns, man that were crazy times in the game). 2. Project of a new rp-char from a different game, here portrayed as an adolescent.

3. My sweetest baby Damaja and his daughter, Nyesha (belongs to @hawkclash ). Damaja's angsty story needs a separate post. Anyway, these two finally got to talk a bit longer than just a "Hi". 4. Moran and Padme (belongs to a friend over dA, if they are even still on that site), the love of his life. I just heard that stupid Polish pop song and while I hate the lyrics etc, the chorus is just a bomb of bass and melody - and this combination is the ultimate ear worm for me. It definitely suits the naive, young love of these two. 5. Scar's daughter Roho (again - @hawkclash ) and Mosi, the king's most loyal guard and follower. Both are from an alternative universe timeline, where Nala doesn't get to get help, and Scar continues his rule over Pride Rock.

Oh, well, another member of the Night Pride and my fav female character in The Lion Guard - Nirmala.

Surak of the Night Pride A strong, loyal warrior, but also the voice of reason. Really like that guy and his design, couldn't get the mane as it should be, though.

Poa! It's Baliyo :D

Yes, I did watch "The Lion Guard" a few days back. I'm not the target audience, there are some things that are annoying to me (animation style of Kion and his family or the cubs generally, the use of the Roar, the marks...  not my stuff), but what I like is the introduction of new characters and new design options, like markings etc. They were in the fandom for a loooong time now, but nice to see them in an official series. I'm absolutely in love with the Night Pride and it's hard for me to choose the favorite (well, ok, Rani is probably on the end of the list, sorry!). Baliyo is cute tho, he also seems to be the opposite to the angry, fierce, charismatic and very self-confident Kion (at least in my opinion?). That scene were he didn't want to visit Janna got deeply into my heart as I had similar experiences not so long ago. It's good to know I'm not the only one and it's a good representation.

Ghali of the Graveyard Oh, how I love this bastard. Ghali, king of the Elephant Graveyard, leader of the Kiburi Pride. He was part of a role play, the setting were the Pride Lands, years before Mufasa's time. Ghali is a sarcastic, arrogant prick, who thinks lions as superior to other animals. Ruthless to the enemies of his theory, but caring of his tribe members. It's also the last piece I post here for this year. I wish you all the best in 2024!

The mane-y boys <3 Ghali, yes, another role-play character from a small game; leader of the Kiburi Pride and king of the Elephant Graveyard, way before the events from the original movie. Mosi, from an Alternative Universe/What If role play. Born in Scar's pride at the beginning of his reign. Cocky, very self-confident, loyal to his ruler, and a secret admirer of his daughter Roho. Ruki, guard in the Burning Blood Pride. (just noticed their names end with an "I")

Forgot to put these doodles here!!! Furaha and Bahia, kids of Asaya and Hazel. Bahia has a two-toned mane now, this picture here is the first try on a redesign for him.

A random girl inspired by an old friend's character from a role-play.

...and Urufu, also a very old role-play character of mine. Small, sarcastic, annoying little s**t, but also the pride's healer.

...and a completely new character - Sajjmir. He probably won't appear too often, as he is sorta a "connector" between my two fluffy lion ladies - he is Barbora's brother and Asaya's sire. These three come from a pride living in colder weather conditions, probably somewhere further away from the Burning Blood Pride. The food has become too scarce for the big pride, so many members emigrated, or - the more loyal ones - perished. Sajjmir refused to leave his pride for a long time. Barbora and Asaya tried to change his mind many times, but they only succeeded when it was too late - the golden-eyed lion succumbed to illness on the way to Zakia's pride and joined his mate in the Stars.

Redesign for Bahia. This character used to be female before, but I wanted to have another big fluffy lion in the group :D Son of Hazel and Asaya.

Characters from a Polish Lion King RP (Król Lew PBF): Ragir belonging to an old aquitance Dirke, son of Nuka and Dotty My Nakato and Qatila (I don't think her owner is somewhere on the internet) - no, there is no romance between them, but they just got caught in an interesting plot involving a mandrill healer... or rather his ghost.

Oh, simple thing, where have you gone? I'm getting old, and I need something to rely on So, tell me when you're gonna let me in I'm getting tired, and I need somewhere to begin" ~Keane, Somewhere only we know Ruki&Barbora aka big fluffy lion with his big fluffy girlfriend Ruki's life wasn't easy - born in a pride with an abusive, cruel father/leader, he was ordered to fight his brothers to death for his sire's and other reigning males fun. He had to win to live, as the loser was simply left to perish... The black-maned lion pressed on until his twin sister Gorgen had to be executed for insubordination. The two adolescents fled the clan, but on the run their ways parted. They only found each other much later by a total coincidence. And now he was there, a mature adult, main guard and warrior of his pride family, with his sister being his best bro's mate, being a beloved uncle, and now having his soulmate at his side. Things sometimes take time.

Nakato

An old character of mine, freshly recycled, good as new. First recycled for a Polish Lion King role-play, but as of 20.01.2024 he is part of the Burning Blood Pride as Kii's mate. I used him in another rp in 2012, that's what he looked like back then (beware, old scribbles):

ey Ruki is a big fluffy handsome guy and he needs a big fluffy pretty girlfriend THERE SHE IS!!! I named her Barbora, but it might be changed, because it's weird to have a lion named Barb (BARB LAHEY?!?!??!). Eitherway, she comes from the same pride as Asaya. The tribe broke down after their leader's death, fell upon hard times and living in a harsh chilly climate doesn't make things easier. Because their pride had an alliance with the Burning Blood, they were more than welcome to join them. And so she and Ruki met. First friends, then a bit platonic, beautiful love. Both were definitely mature when they met (50 years in human age) and knew definitely what they wanted in a relationship - a stable, deep friendship, a trustful and helpful companion. And a lot of big, fluffy cuddles.

Johari and Asaya's daughters cubs ...Furaha and Bahia, with the latter being female before, but I love big fluffy lions, so there he is!

As you can see, I'm on my drawing spree (sry) Kii's new design, updated and more accurate. Now resembling her beloved grandmother much more :)

Oh, and I updated Burning Blood's family tree - now on FamilyEcho. It's easier to keep it up to date this way.

Aaaand here is the last couple - Asaya and Hazel (son of Johari and Gorgen). He must have said something stupid... No worries - this series might be over, but I still need to draw some characters from the Pride. Ruki needs a partner, Kii needs a redesign, maybe Asaya and Hazel's cubs need some new portrayal, too...
