More Posts from Mairablue
I've mentioned in passing that I was slowly putting together moodboards of songs for the SCM Gods. Now none of them are anywhere near finished but seeing as from my quick searches when I first started throwing them together I somehow managed to end up with thirteen songs on Huedhaut's list, maybe I will at least go through why I've associated these songs with him?
Major spoilers for Hue's path under the cut
Let's start in the past then shall we? Yes some of these are clearly a mood for Huedhaut/Clotho not Huedhaut/MC but bear with me...
1. Driftwood (The Moody Blues)
'I don't remember what was said In the confusion that night I only know what's on my mind What's in the future, we will decide
Time waits for no one at all No, not even you You thought you'd seen it all before You really thought you knew'
This possibly isn't the neatest one on this list but tell me this doesn't at least make you think a little of the night that The Goddess of Fate decided to save the Earth over her life with Hue. I mean this:
'But darling, now I know you Life could never be the same Oh no, don't leave me driftwood on the shore'
This is certainly Hue's feelings isn't it? 😭
Okay continuing on with the Huedhaut/Clotho stuff for now and now we're in that era of Hue being on his own...
This one totally feels like it could be his feelings in the immediate aftermath:
2. Cold Outside of Your Heart (The Moody Blues)
'Then out of the blue, it was over And how did you think I would survive
'Cause it's cold outside Yes, it's cold outside of your heart'
I mean, ouch, but it fits doesn't it?
Okay two more that are specifically pertaining to Huedhaut after losing Clotho, though both of these I feel are nearer to when they go and meet MC for the first time. If you think about how he is in Prelude to Fate (the special story where they show MC what happened just before they got their marks of sin) these two songs feel like his internal thoughts ever since he was on his own.
3. Deeper Shade of Blue (Steps)
'I used to say you were wonderful Now I just wonder where you are It's easy to say memories fade But I'm still missing you, nothing's changed
And I'm a deeper shade of blue And there's nothin' I can do You're so far, far away'
I could quote the entirety of the lyrics to this one but it fits so well because Hue knows that her soul survived due to his interfering but he has no reason to believe he will ever see her again and even if that did happen she's not the same person, just a reincarnation.
On a similar note:
4. Haunted (The Moody Blues)
'I really miss you when the nights are long And only silence is heard in this world of song But life goes on And forever more I'll be haunted by your love'
Do I really need to say more about this one? This absolutely is Hue before his path starts.
And finally in this section, one that totally relates to how Hue feels about the Goddess of Fate leaving him behind:
5. Someone You Loved (Lewis Capaldi)
'Now the day bleeds Into nightfall And you're not here To get me through it all I let my guard down And then you pulled the rug I was getting kinda used to being someone you loved'
I mean... do I need to talk about this? It was sudden. And the line let my guard down? I mean Hue can see into the future, The Goddess of Fate could change people's futures. They are absolutely so entwined and I feel like Hue probably would feel like he should have noticed something before it got as far as it did.
Find another option like he and MC did later (twice in fact! The end of his main story where they calm the issues a third way rather than Hue's idea vs Zyglavis' , but also the end of his sequel story where rather than MC stepping through the door on her own, they step through it together. Would that have worked before? (And as that did work there... what was the King worried about in his Promise of Infinity Story? UGH).
Okay let's get out of this part of his path shall we? I want happier Hue... (man that's not exactly easy is it? *hugs him* ). Let's start with something a little more hopeful:
6. I Know You're Out There Somewhere (The Moody Blues)
'And to those who lack the courage And say it's dangerous to try Well they just don't know That love eternal will not be denied I know you're out there somewhere'
Now this one isn't quite a perfect fit I know, but the vibe of this certainly makes me think about how he is in the other Gods' paths: knowing that she is indeed out there somewhere living a new life.
Okay back onto his actual path now and this next one feels like it could be his feelings just after MC calls him Hue for the first time and has clearly remembered at least some of her past life as the Goddess of Fate:
7. Bless The Wings (That Bring You Back) (The Moody Blues)
'I bless the wings that bring you Back across the shore If I could touch you now, my darling And love you just once more
If I could hold you Hold you, hold you I know you'd understand I know you'd understand'
I mean that's what he asks isn't it? Just for that night to indulge him? Of course then he decides it isn't what to do because he doesn't think MC's feelings have returned.
Talking of which, this next one feels like it's absolutely perfect for after they have finally sorted the mess at the end of his main story and are back together without Hue having to do anything drastic and MC not having to be killed and screw you Zyglavis they found another option xD:
8. The Story in Your Eyes (The Moody Blues)
'I've been thinking about our fortune And I've decided that we're really not to blame For the love that's deep inside us now is still the same
And the sounds we make together Is the music to the story in your eyes It's been shining down upon me now, I realize'
Music to the story in your eyes. Like you cannot get much clearer than that when it comes to Hue and MC. There is literally a story in MC's eyes because of Hue sacrificing the stars from one of his in order for her to exist in the first place.
Let's head to a sweeter one now:
9. Perfect (Ed Sheeran)
Okay some of this doesn't quite fit but look me in the eyes and tell me these lines in particular don't fit wonderfully:
'But darling, just kiss me slow Your heart is all I own And in your eyes, you're holding mine'
'Fighting against all odds I know we'll be alright this time Darling, just hold my hand Be my girl, I'll be your man I see my future in your eyes'
Yup, eyes again, but it just is such a clear theme in Hue's route.
Okay let's go a bit more left field here. I guess this one is maybe fitting for Hue's sequel story:
10. One More Time To Live (The Moody Blues)
This starts nice and gently with the following:
'Look out of my window See the world passing by See the look in her eye
One more time to live and I have made it mine Leave the wise to write for they write worldly rhymes'
But it soon degrades into this:
'Desolation Creation Tell me someone why there's only confusion Evolution
Tell me someone that this is all an illusion Pollution Tell me someone Saturation'
Which to me feels like what it could feel like to Hue in one of his visions, especially during his sequel where the water is literally screaming out in pain at him.
And then right near the end you get this:
'Changes in my life Communication Compassion Solution
Look out on the hedgerow As the world rushes by Hear the birds sign a sigh'
So it goes right round in a circle but the communication, compassion, solution line... that's Hue and MC deciding to fix it by stepping through the door together isn't it?
Apparently you can only have 10 audio tracks per post on Tumblr but this should hopefully have covered the main ones anyway.
The three tracks I didn't get round to including as I tried to order them into this post if anyone is curious are: 'It's A Hard Life' (Queen), 'Will You Sing a Chorus With Me?' (Anthony John Clarke), and 'Between Midnight and Blue' (Anthony John Clarke)
Scorpio: *after hearing the first sentence * 🤨

Your legs were trembling and as thick droplets of water streamed from your hair to your boots, your body felt heavy. Your clothes were dump and you were dragging your feet on your way inside the tavern.
The warmth was like a sweet shiver to your spine and you breathed in shakily, pulling your hood down.
There was noise by the chattering customers and the sounds of glasses clinking in cheers, droplets of alcohol jumping around.
You placed your bow and arrow by the door and hanged your wet cloak from the clothing hanger, leaving it there to dry. You walked farther into the tavern, your wet soles leaving wet footprints behind, which gradually faded with each step.
A lady with a metallic tray full of beer rushed by in rhythmical steps, practically dancing her way to a table of four, humming and talking energetically to the music of lyres, flutes and banjos.
You reached a table at the corner of the wooden room, close to the fire and you sat down, breathing a little heavily as you stretched and cracked your knuckles. You raised your hand and waved at the lady dancing by and she turned to you with a large grin.
"I'm listening."
"Tea."
"Kind?" She asked, holding the round metallic tray beneath her arm.
"Green."
"On it!" She said, skipping off to the counter.
You sighed and folded your forearms on the table, burying your face in them. You closed your eyes and as your clothes began to dry from the fury of the intense rainstorm outside, the musicians played their instruments and sang, the warmth of the fireplace caressing your figure.
"That's my table." At the male voice that interrupted your peace, you looked up to find a man standing there, his eyebrows furrowed as he looked down at you.
"Excuse me?" You asked, furrowing your brows as well, but in confusion.
"I guess I have to explain everything..." A corner of his lips curled upwards and he languidly stepped closer, dropping a palm onto the table's wooden surface. "That table is mine. This is my seat and anyone who values themselves should know not to sit here."
"It's a public place." You replied, resting your chin on your forearms and only angling your eyes to look upwards. "You can't force me to leave."
The man's eyes widened momentarily, before narrowing again, this time a smile with a hint of something twisted adoring his lips. "I see how it is..." He dragged a chair back and flopped down on it, his movements lazy and oozing confidence. "Feisty, aren't we?" He said, sinking back into his chair and crossing his legs with a sly smile.
You shrugged your shoulders and buried your face back into your forearms, no longer knowing how this stranger reacted, no longer able to see him as you were.
"Green tea!" The waitress rushed to your table, placing down a black and large ceramic mug of steaming tea and placed a small wooden box of sugar beside it, before waltzing away again, twirling a few times to the music.
You inhaled deeply and closed your eyes, smiling calmly at the soothing and intoxication scent of it.
But behind the black ceramic mug, a figure remained there, unchanged.
"Are you... Going to stay here...?" You asked, quirking a brow.
"Do you want to?"
"Just curious." You shrugged your shoulders and looked down at the steam swaying above your mug.
The man raised a hand and the waitress snapped her head towards him, her attention undivided. "Wine." He said and the woman nodded, rushing to attend to his request.
You touched the mug a tiny bit and pulled away, seeing at it was too hot to drink for now.
There was a soft thud on the table and looking up, the waitress was already moving away from your table, after having placed a glass of wine there.
The man reached for it, his fingers appearing gentle, yet firm from where you sat and stared, as he brought the glass to his lips. "So?" He asked, swaying the glass in his hand and watching as the crimson liquid sloshed around the glassy barriers restraining it. "Are you going to talk to me or simply stare?"
Realizing you had been staring, you averted your eyes from his and tested the temperature of the ceramic mug again, only to find that it was still very hot. "I just spaced out."
He let go of a breathy laugh through his nose and placed his glass of alcohol down, close to your mug. "And who may you, who dares to steal my table, be?"
"(Name)."
His eyes narrowed at the sound of your name and he remained silent, a sly smile spreading across his lips.
"Something the matter?"
His grin widened. "I've heard about you. You're a hunter, aren't you?"
"Yes, you've heard correctly." You nodded, straightening your back against the backrest of your chair. "I'm here on a job."
"I see." He said, his whiskey eyes trailing down to your drinks. "To slay a monster perhaps?"
"Perhaps." You admitted, your eyes finding your bow at the opposite corner of the room and then resuming your attention back to him. "A beast."
The man looked deeply into your eyes, the flames of the fireplace reflecting in his eyes and making them look as if he lit them up himself with just a glance.
You swallowed thickly, not knowing why. You'd faced beasts and monsters of all kinds and battled with many creatures, yet an arrogant man made something in you stir? "What's your name."
"Leon." He replied, voice low and raspy, making a shiver run down your spine. "And... What kind of beast may that be?" He said, leaning against the table and seeming as if he was going to leap at you at any moment.
You hesitated, eyes narrowing. "Are you not from this town?"
"Why does it matter?" He asked, eyes like thin blades, pulled straight out of the fire.
"I just assumed you're a traveler, since you seem to not know about the beast roaming this town. But you acted like you owned this spot earlier, so I'm guessing you come here often."
He chuckled throatily and your heart beat loudly, the blood rushing through your ears quickly, sounding like the wind howling outside. "You're smart." He sat back up, his back against the backrest. "After all, you are one of the best hunters of this land." He rose abruptly from his seat and spared you one last flaming glance, before turning away, the fire dying in his eyes.
"May I bring you anything else, sir?" The waitress spoke up, her musical tone replaced by one of timidity.
"No need." He responded, voice louder than hers and stronger in flow. "I'm leaving." He shoved his hand into his pocket and then tossed a few coins on the wooden table. They clicked as they fell, their gold absorbing the light of the dancing flames.
Your eyes followed them, counting inside your head and once you were done, your eyebrows rose and you got up from your seat, your hand reaching into the air, as if you wanted to grab onto his long coat, with the fur around the collar. "Wait! Did you just pay for mine too?!"
His hands were shoved within the pockets of his pants, as he turned around slowly, his wicked gaze finding yours again. "You entertained me. It's been a while since someone did."
You remained standing there, refusing your seat, until you watched him cross the doorway, his long coat swaying behind him, before the door of the tavern closed. Once the man was gone, you collapsed back into your seat and stared down at your reflection upon the tea's surface. You put your elbow on the table and with your fingers, you massaged your temple. You didn't know what it was, but his eyes never faded from your memory, until you fell into a deep slumber that night, exhaustion overtaking you, because of your long trip.
Two days went by. You stayed at an inn. The second night there was when you stepped out into the cold midnight air. The torches of the houses were put off and the half moon was the only thing kind enough to offer you some faint hint of light.
Your quiver of arrows was over your shoulder, strapped to your back and a collection of your sharpest knives was secured around your belt. You gripped your bow tightly in your hands. Your fingers were stinging from the pain caused by the cold, but you had learned to work with the pain.
You had tamed the pain and made him your ally, your weapon even.
The soles of your knee-high boots crashed brunches and rocks beneath them, as you wandered deeper and deeper into the forest, until the tall trees thickened, blocking the moonlight from reaching the forest floor.
You remained as quiet as you could, every single one of your senses on the edge, looking out for anything, from a smell, to a sound or a sight. Your breaths mixed with the winter air, that blew through the trees, their brunches entangling and even with their lack of leaves, they hid the sky.
Your nose was numb from the cold, your lips reddish, as the blood gathered there and at the tips of your fingers, prioritizing those body parts to the rest from the frostbites and ensuring their function.
Noise reached your ears and you listened closely. Running water.
You followed the sound and came upon a thin, but impetuous waterfall, which ended up within a river, that streamed between big and slippery rocks and disappeared into the tree-line.
And then... Footsteps, heavy and ragged, beastly breathing.
You rushed and hid between the trees, where the moonlight couldn't reach you and reveal your presence. Your fingers curled around your bow tightly as you waited, holding your breath in anticipation.
A form emerged from the trees and it was far from human. A thick and broad torso of golden fur, balanced on four strong legs with sharp claws.
Once your eyes trailed higher, you beheld the beast's entirety.
A big head, adorned with a wild, untamed mane of fiery brown and jaws that could tier apart metal. It was a lion, but more huge, every step it took almost making the Earth shudder. The beast turned its long tail to you and walked towards the waterfall.
Your instinct kicked in and with cautious, silent movements, mastered by years of practice, you reached towards the quiver thrown over your back and pulled out an arrow. Its tip was made of steel and you narrowed your eyes, as you dragged the bowstring of the bow back, aiming at the beast's heart, while it was bent into the riven, quenching its thirst.
You sucked in a short breath, your chest rising as your fingers let go of the bowstring and it swung back into its rightful shape, shooting out the arrow with a violent speed. It flew across the air, cutting through the icy atmosphere and heading for the beast's heart.
Pursing your lips together, you felt as if your freezing skin was developing cracks, that spread all over your face, as you watched the lion leap away from the arrow.
Its face turned to you, its eyes spotting you between the trees.
You knew the real battle would begin right now. The hunters that believed they could kill a beast with one shot, were the ones that never returned and their memories lived on in myths and legends of impulsive foolishness and overconfident rush.
You stepped out into the moonlight and faced the beast, your heart beating loudly from a mix of fear, determination and adrenaline. You pulled another arrow out of the quiver and aimed it at the lion, making it believe you would shoot. But you knew better...
The lion leaped forward, sharp teeth bared at you as it roared loudly, scaring away even the smallest form of life around the perimeter by the might and the volume of its sound.
You waited, calculating your time, before the beast reached a few meters away from you and you jumped out of its way, leaving it land before a bush. You pulled your bow's bowstring backwards and let go of it, the steely tip hitting its right leg.
The beast roared in pain and its expression became crazed. It turned to you, facing you with eyes the color of warm whiskey. Staring into the beast's eyes, at first you were petrified at how human they looked, as if speaking to you a language you understood. A language you both understood.
And then, it ran away... It disappeared into the trees, running through the winter air.
You sighed, your breathing quick and heavy. You brought a hand to your head and ran your fingers through your hair. In all your years as a hunter, you had never witnessed eyes like those in a monster's face. They would always inspire terror and they'd look unfeeling and so easy to attack them. Yet this beast... His eyes prevented you from doing what you came here to do. They made you feel as if it was wrong.
You heard the sound of brunches crunching once more and you spun around, thinking the lion had returned from another path of the woods. But laughter came from between the trees and human shadows fell upon the ground covered in the moonlight of the half Selene.
A group of men appeared from the tree-line, their bodies wrapped in leather and daggers strapped to their belts. Their faces and hands were dirtied and upon spotting you, you watched them halt and whisper something to each other.
Your brain ushered you to run. You were one and couldn't hold off five men at once. Your feet obeyed quickly, moving along with the howling wind, as you ran against it, as if opposing nature itself.
The men chased after you and from the sounds of their footsteps, you could tell they had split. You gritted your teeth, your feet carrying you through the cold air, which caused your face to sting and your eyes to squint.
You ran out of the tree-line, finding yourself at a cliff. The gurgling of water reached your ears, coming from the bottom of the cliff, where a valley unraveled, the river flowing there mad and unmerciful, chipping away at the rocks surrounding it and taking their sharp pieces along. To the gates of hell, you assumed, by the sight of it.
The five men caught up to you, all of you breathing heavily, as you turned to face them, pulling a dagger from your belt, its blade glinting in the moonlight, as if the silver light of night licked and tasted the cool steel.
The men inched closer to you and you took a step back, your breath hitching in your throat as the scent of death reached your nose and stealing a glance at the far off valley, bones and ribs were stuck between the sharp rocks. Some apparently have fallen and got stabbed by the edges of the rocks.
As the men with the daggers closed in on you, your hold around your own knife stiffened to the point of pain. Either they killed you, or the river's wrath swallowed you and tiered you limb from limb, as it dragged you along, drowning you in the process.
Just then, a growl came from the tree-line and you watched on, as the color drained from the faces of the men. "I though it was a myth..." One of them muttered, voice barely above a whisper, because of the numbing terror that imposed over every fiber of his flesh and mind. His fingers grew weak and were left trembling, as the knife slipped out of his hold, hitting the soil of the ground.
You glanced beyond the five men, at the figure of the beast that came out of the trees. It wasn't rushing, it wouldn't lash out. It knew none of you could go anywhere. You were all trapped and under its mercy.
The lion roared and leaped forward, making the men cry out in horror, their feet moving faster than their brains, running away and into the thickness of the trees, their terrified cries fading in the distance, along with their footsteps.
You swallowed thickly and gazed back at the giant lion, that was now towering over you, its shadow covering you from the moon's eyes. You raised your dagger, staring the beast deeply within its eyes, bravery rushing through your veins and making your body tremble slightly, as it surpassed your fear.
The lion's eyes remained in yours and the feeling of moral mistake from before returned to your heart. Something in you didn't allow you to attack and skin its face. It stepped back slowly and you stood there, the sound of the angered water screaming in your ears, unsatisfied as it was that he tasted no victims, as you watched the lion disappear into the woods, the night covering it, without the moonlight disturbing it.
Two days passed. Morning rose, the moon fleeing, as if it feared they'd torture it to tell of what it witnessed.
The sunrays slipping bashfully through the grey clouds spread across the sky, the warmth never reaching the town and abandoning it deep in a state winter.
The pharmacist handed you a bottle, closed shut with a cork and you slipped coins of gold across the counter for him to take. "Thank you." You said, heading towards a sofa by the wall and the pharmacist nodded, before turning to the next costumer at the other end of the counter.
The door to the store swung open, the bells hang right above it ringing the arrival of another costumer. Your eyes wandered curiously to the door, as you took a sip of the green glassy bottle. You lowered the bottle onto your lap and gazed at the familiar man that walked in and directed his steps to the counter.
You stuffed the cork back into the bottle and held onto it, as Leon's body turned around, his long coat swaying behind him. "And who do we have here?" He said, a broad and sly grin across his face as he approached you. "Little miss hunter..." He chuckled lightly to himself. "So? You slayed the monster?"
Your fingers tightened around the dark green bottle in your hands and your eyebrows furrowed. "No." You answered, honestly. "Not yet."
Leon's tongue remained rested, no words sang by his vocal cords. He snorted. "What are you doing here? Did your failed ambush give you wounds?"
You shook your head, your hair swaying around your face. "No, my head hurts. That's all." You stared up at him. "What are you doing here?"
He shifted in his seat, facing you and draped his left arm across the back of the sofa. "Just a wound."
"A wound?" You asked, eyebrows rising a little. "What happened to you?"
Leon's smile widened, amusement coloring his eyes, which inspired an odd feeling of déjà vu in you. He slipped out his thick coat, revealing his bandaged right arm underneath. "Let me show you..." He reached out for the bandage wrapped tightly around his toned arm and pulled it away, revealing a crimson cut across his skin.
"How... Did this happen...?" You breathed, staring at it. It almost looked like a wound caused by an—
"An arrow hit me." Leon's voice made your blood run cold and your fingers lost grip of the dark green bottle of medicine.
It rolled across your lap and flew into the air, but Leon caught it, before it could hit the floor, his movements fast.
"You almost dropped this." He said, his voice a raspy whisper you barely registered in your head, among your daze. "... Little miss hunter."
"It's you..." You uttered, watching closely at the wound that seemed to be healing on its own the more closely one stared at it.
"I've got to admit, you're smarted than I thought you'd be." He chuckled and pushed the glassy bottle into your hands, before he rose from his seat. "I guess I'll see you around, miss hunter."
