listen i know the atom eve special probably wasn't intended to be an allegory for growing up with autism but. the parallels. parents not wanting to acknowledge she's different. why does she stare at things for hours instead of playing with other children. got into a school for gifted kids but didn't make any friends there. only ever having one friend who then ends up rejecting her for being too weird. even the babysitter thing resonates with me, i remember having a babysitter who was really amazed that i knew the word "trapezoid" at age 3
