Mondrian inspired tea caddy.
This was my first attempt at making a box and I always need more space to store tea. I liked the straight lines when Iāve stuck waste wood together before for other projects which lends itself quite well to a Mondrian style pattern.
I didnāt have any naturally red, yellow, or blue wood so I used orange (padauk), green (tulip), and purple (purple heart). I also used sycamore to replace the white and oak for the grey, with African Blackwood for the black lines. I used mitre joints for the corners and lined the box with cedar.
I finished the box with Danish oil, which says itās odourless when itās dry but itās been dry for over 2 weeks now and I can still smell it

Bleach painting of the Ghost. I wanted to see if the colour would lift differently on a different coloured t-shirt. I know the picture makes it look black but itās actually navy blue. The colour still lifts the same way, through orange then to white. The splatter effect with the spray gave me a galaxy vibe so I decided to paint the Ghost. My proportions are still a bit off. You get less leeway with ships and buildings than you so with a landscape, or to an extent animals, so it can look off quite easily. Still I really enjoyed this one. Canāt wait to see the Ghost in live action.

Grogu bleach painting. This was my third attempt at bleach painting. Thereās still things Iād want to improve, the proportions are a little off, but itās still better than I expected it to be. You canāt exactly remove the bleach once itās down so you have to work very decisively, which isnāt easy if your prone to mistakes. Iām no Bob Ross, my accidents are often neither happy nor little.

Some book edge painting of Howlās Moving Castle I did for a friendās birthday. This was the first trilogy Iāve done, and the first paperbacks, so I did end up crushing the spines thinking they could take the stress from the clamps. They could not.
Iāve also yet to figure out how to stop the paint cracking off when I open the book back up, but this mostly held up.

Mandalorian dice
I think these are probably some slightly random choices but I didnāt want to carve out an individual helmet for each die. It was probably a little restrictive doing it that way but I was mostly just trying to avoid doing more work. As much as I wanted Sabineās helmet there, I did the helmet in the right shape only in the size for the D4 which would be too small for any of the other dice. Luckily, cool helmets run in the family so I did Tristanās as I had the right size and shape for it. I might carve some more out eventually, thereās a lot of diversity in mandalorian helmets so theyāre not quite as simple as the clones.

A clone trooper dice set I made with some clones from the 501st legion. I carved the helmets from plaster first and then made a mould to make more. I then painted them with acrylic paint and set them into dice.
Iām still yet to learn how to reliably not sand the numbers off the D20 but I did learn to carve some of the numbers back in and pretend it never happened soā¦
I also probably should use blanks for stuff like this because I definitely sanded into some of these.

Stellanās lightsaber hilt has got to be one of the prettiest lightsabers in Star Wars, so I wanted to see if I could replicate it. This hilt is made with cedar, chamfuta, purple heart, and padauk. I turned the main shaft of the hilt on the lathe, and used the scroll saw with various sanders, hand files, and chisels to make the cross guards and details. I also used one of the chisels to accidentally stab my finger which was fun⦠As with the others, some of the joins still arenāt quite perfect but this is still one of my favourite things Iāve made.

Some pictures of the first lightsaber hilt I made, Lukeās from Return of the Jedi. Made with tulip, maple, rosewood, and walnut. The green LED in the end is connected to a switch hidden in the control box and a battery compartment concealed in the bottom of the hilt. I was perhaps a little over ambitious with trying to get electronics into this. Even though itās a relatively simple circuit Iām not exactly an expert, and I think the hole I drilled down the middle was too small which made the wiring really awkward, but the idea was there. Still, Iām happy with how it turned out for the first one.

Reath's my favourite character from the high republic so of course I had to make his lightsaber hilt. Made with birch, tulip, panga panga, and xylia. This is only the second hilt I've made and there's some parts that don't quite fit together but I'm still pretty proud of it.
So, regarding the supposed hints to Sabineās Force-sensitivity in the trailer: my two cents is that sheās not, but that she wants to be.
If Sabine were Force-sensitive, I think she would have discovered it during Trials of the Darksaber. Force-sensitivity isnāt easy to hide; I doubt she could have lived with two Jedi and all their weird Force shenanigans for half a decade and not figured that out. Adding it in now wouldnāt make sense, and it would kind of be a disservice both to Kanan and Ezraās stories and her own.
Instead, I think she calls AhsokaĀ āmasterā because she continued learning about wielding a lightsaber from her. Through that, I imagine she got to feel closer to Kanan and Ezra, and I think as time went on, she probably started yearning to wield Ezraās lightsaber in the way he did, and Kanan did, because sheās so desperate to feel connected to them again. When she raises her hand in the trailer to call to the Force, Iām betting itās just out of desperation to see that wish fulfilled, and when Shin tells her she doesnāt have any power, I think that means she failed.Ā

jedi and fatness in the high republic era
so. high republic media has given us so much in terms of characters that are not white, are not straight, are not cis etc. ⦠but what i expected the least was that they gave us jedi who literally donāt fit into the ~ideal~ body type that jedi typically have - slim, athletic, muscular. the #1 argument against jedi being fat is always: they need to be physically fit. they need to be disciplined. they need to be fast, and proficient in combat. disregarding the stereotypes that fat people arenāt disciplined etc. i just⦠i never got it because: you can be fit without being straight-sized. you can be proficient in combat. you can train to run fast. and jedi? jedi have the force to support them. and even if they arenāt all of those things they āneedā to be - thereās always jedi librarians. healers. teachers. explorers. but i digress. letās get back to the high republic!
there are two jedi padawans that are fat or fat-adjacent in high republic media: imri cantaros and ram jomaram. and theyāre written in such a loving, respectful way i cry when i think about it.
i donāt want to make a huge analysis or anything, but iād really like to share a couple of my oh-my-god-this-character-is-fat-and-i-love-them-so-much moments.

thatās ram, who has appearances in: the rising storm, race to crashpoint tower, high republic adventures, trail of shadows (in one panel lmao), midnight horizon.
Ram hated fighting. Wellāheād never done it, but he hated the idea of it. It felt like his body refused to cooperate any time even a practice battle was called for. Lightsaber training and Jedi combat maneuvers were his two worst areas, and the very thought of going face to face with an enemy made him jittery. (race to crashpoint tower)
but even though he says he hates it or canāt do it, heās good at it!
and pls look at him go in this panel in trail of shadows #3:

and one quote from midnight horizon that i love love LOVE:
āAbsolutely,ā Reath said, lighting his own green one and standing at the ready. āWhat were you going to ask me?ā Their sabers met with a jangly surge of power. Reath was careful to move slow, telegraphing his every move so Ram would see it coming and block. "Oh.ā Ram said, easily swiping away Reathās sizzing blade and then shoving him clean across the room with the Force. āNever mind.ā Reath sat up with a huge grin plastered across his face. āItās like that, huh?ā He stood, cracking his neck the way his master had. āGame on!ā
reath like āiāll go easy on this little dudeā and ram just obliterates him. š

thatās imri! he has major appearances in: a test of courage, out of the shadows, mission to disaster. heās not as explicitly fat as ram (and for some reason his depiction in the high republic comic is⦠not the way heās described in the novels lol) but iām absolutely counting him.
Imri was tall and broad-shouldered and his hefty frame was a perfect match for his masterās. He had pale skin, a mop of golden hair, kind brown eyes, and an uncanny knack for perceiving the feelings and thoughts of those around him. (out of the shadows)
and:
Imri was relieved to see that there were no durga berries today. They were delicious, but Master Nyla had been hard pressed to find a tabard in his size, and he didnāt want to tempt disaster by eating another one. (mission to disaster)
also, in mission to disaster heās constantly eating or talking about food and itās so incredibly delightful.
i love these two boys so much and itās just really, really neat that the high republic writers are giving us at least crumbs of diverse body types on top of everything else.
EDIT: OH!! very important addition by @cohborikardok:

yes!!! thank you!

This is how The Fallen Star went right?
This is so, so important. TFatWS spoilers.
