It's a quick dumb little playlist I made for the enemies to lovers trope! I hope you enjoy it.

*rings doorbell* Trick or treat! (@writingbyricochet)
@writingbyricochet here's a treat! lately, i've been working on the origin story of bari/the memories she has of colonization when she's younger (will there even be colonization in this novel i don't even know anymore) but here's a small snippet:
“Get down and submit to the new king.”
I remember the confusion on the villagers’ faces. The murmured whispers among one another. The linked fingers. The wariness.
Then the men in front of us sheathed their swords.
The kill happened in an instant. In a second, the blade drove through our village leader. Blood gurgled out of his mouth, a choked scream ringing through the air. No one even dared to gasp, women slapping their hands over their children who began to cry.
We all took a collective step back as the corpse—now reduced to an entity—fell on his knees, head banging against the ground. Sand fluttered through the air and created a misted wall—one that wouldn’t be strong enough to stop these soldiers.
“Kneel.”
The death’s effects lasted for weeks.
The first: our name changed into something more fitting, essentially cutting our ties with our past selves.
The second: our language changed. We could no longer communicate the way we used to.
The third: we had a collective understanding that we were being oppressed, but nobody commented on it.
As far as the rest of the world knew, we enjoyed colonization.
The irony.
