The Tweet Part 2

You’d been scrambling to work with Tagora and the others to come up with a way to cover Marvus’ blunder. It wasn’t like you could sweep it underneath the metaphorical rug or anything, it’d have to be addressed at some point, and soon if you wanted to avoid a good deal of the drama. As it stood, you’d both have to do an interview. A strictly regulated interview, of course, but an interview nonetheless. Something about salvaging your images. Not like you had an image to salvage. Marvus was the star here and you were just the friendly human. Never before had you been so happy for having only the most dumbass shit on your accounts paired with enough vague nonsense no one would look deeper than ‘bumbling newbie to concert got lucky and swept into a whirlwind romance’. The type of shit every fan wished would happen to them.

A perfect cover.

You might even be able to save your privacy if you played up the newbie act. It wouldn’t exactly be hard. In all honesty you didn’t pay much attention to Marvus’ work other than that first concert and whatever he deigned important enough to share with you. Mostly your thoughts on cover art for albums. You were his human sounding board when it came to those things. Other than the odd question you were just along for the ride. The two of you had built your relationship outside of the limelight which is another reason it had lasted longer than his other relationships. You were his break from stardom and as far as you were concerned Marvus was just another troll. One with plenty of perks but still just an ordinary person. So, it wouldn’t be hard to play the idiot in this. Even if you knew exactly what you were stepping into at the start of this relationship.

Absorbed in your own share of work going through the preplanned script for a, now inevitable, interview you didn’t hear the lock on your door click or the muffled squeak of the front door’s rusting hinges. No, as you grumbled and griped to no one in particular about idiot juggalos and how you were going to beat them with their own clown shoes- Marvus was free to slip in quietly and stand in the doorway of the living room where you were typing away. If you had seen him and the smug little smile on his face you would have launched a pillow at his face no mercy. But he had every right to be smug. He’d been debating dropping hints about your relationship for some time now. The only reason he’d held back for so long was because it meant throwing you into the middle of the lion’s den. He simply couldn’t bring himself to do that to you. It was why he’d caved so quickly to his PR team’s demands. If they wanted to keep the relationship private then he had no qualms with it. Having you all to himself was a welcomed distraction from everything he put out in the open to please his fans. You weren’t one of the screaming masses, not some simple fan who wanted to claw their way into his life, you were simply his. You never saw him as Marvus The Performer, you saw him as Marvus The Person. Marvus your matesprit. Though, he wasn’t going to waste this opportunity now that it was out in the open. He wouldn’t ever have to pretend to be a concerned friend when people blatantly flirted with you. Wouldn’t have to play off his jealousy as simple attention seeking. You were his matesprit and those fuckers were lucky he didn’t straight out attack them. He would have been well within his rights to do it. Messiah’s knew he’d come close to throwing caution to the wind when it came to you. Only an idiot would try for a red quad with you now that Marvus was in the picture. It made him smile.

“You gonna stand there like the cat who ate the canary or are you gonna help me fix this?” You huffed when you finally noticed him. He had the decency to look a little sheepish as he plopped down on the couch to read over the shit show his team was trying to wrangle into submission.

“You know I wasn’t doin’ that shit on purpose right?” He asked after a moment of nothing but the cold shoulder. Usually you were happy to greet him with a smile and a kiss when he stopped by. Something he looked forward to every time he got to see you. Now you were too absorbed in work to offer him more than a glance. Your fingers slowed and the rapid tapping dwindled to nothing as you sighed.

“I know, honestly I’m impressed we kept it under wraps this long.” You gave a small chuckle and shook your head. There was a hint of a smile playing on your lips and it made Marvus relax. As long as you weren’t truly angry with him he’d be fine. And you weren’t- not really- a little miffed but nothing serious. Seeing him relax and start grinning in that smug way again reminded you of your earlier promise though. With no warning you smacked him once- as hard as you could- in the arm. It’d do little more than shock him- the bastard. As predicted he jumped and swiveled his head to look at you in surprise.

“Wh-,”

You didn’t give him the moment to speak as you glanced away long enough from your work to give him a kiss. He blinked at you silently until it caught up to him and a lazy grin spread across his face. Turning back to the laptop you felt his arms snake around you and ever so carefully drag you closer to him. You had a feeling you weren’t going to be getting much done now as he pressed a kiss just behind your ear.

Modern Fantasy Dwarf Headcanons #2

Dwarven young are extremely well protected. Most will not leave the mountains until they are the human equivalent of ten years of age. More so, dwarven young will not be allowed out of their homes until they are the human equivalent of five. This has caused the misconception of dwarven babies being carved from stone.

Of course the parents often take it as a compliment! To dwarves comparing the child to rocks or stronger metals/gems is similar to saying their child is strong and will live a long life. Common things dwarven parents call their children are often Pebble, Stone, Precious Gem, Gold Nugget, Ore, and in some instances Coal Ember. This, of course, only makes the misconception of dwarves being carved from stone more popular.

Common nick names given to children often have to do with the parent’s craft. It is not uncommon to hear the dwarf child being called Little Pickaxe or Little Forge depending on profession. Many times the parent chooses to only refer to the child by a nickname when outside of the mountain they live in. It is an old custom carried on into the present that is meant to protect the child by making sure a stranger cannot trick them into thinking they can be trusted.

When it comes to human charges, however, the rules change. Often dwarven family will refer to the human as their middle name, a family name, or by descriptors. Though some will refer to them as metals/stones/precious gems and the like it is not as common as the former. It can be guessed with a surprising bit of accuracy that a dwarf who refers to their human(s) as metals, stones, or precious gems has known that human since their birth and has taken over most of that human’s raising since then. This also carries over to other species adopted by dwarves though humans are the most common.

It is considered bad manners to refer to someone as their actual name when introducing them to strangers unless that stranger is in a higher position than both persons. If one does not know the rank of the stranger a safe bet to go with is the dwarf’s family name/clan name with a descriptor such as ‘Dark hair of the Irontooth Clan’. Children are not to be introduced to strangers until they are firmly in their teens. This has caused quite a bit of shock to dwarves being introduced to children of other races. The most children get as introduction to a stranger is ‘my child’ or ‘my (2nd/1st/3rd/etc..) eldest/youngest’.

WARNING: Do not ask a dwarf child their name. Ever.

Polypa Goezee x Reader

Popcorn littered the floor in a spray of carnage, the large olive bowl it had been in was tipped over to its side. On your laptop screen the credits to some Alternian romcom was playing in its distorted way, the quality hadn’t been the best but you hadn’t put it on for yourself. Your arm had fallen asleep where Polypa was using it as a pillow, her hair still damp from the shower earlier. She looked peaceful like this, one arm thrown over your stomach and the other cradling the back of your neck gingerly- she was always so careful to guard your weak spots- one of her legs was hooked over yours and a soft purr was rumbling from her chest. Rubbing her arm the best you could when it was trapped underneath her you carefully reached with the other to shut your laptop. It was late and you were exhausted from the feelings jam the both of you had hammered out earlier in the night. Cocooned in the soft blankets and pillows that made up your pile it was easy to wiggle just a bit and get comfortable. In her sleep Polypa lightly tightened her grip and shifted closer, that soft purr turning into a deeper rumble that vibrated your own chest where she was pressed as close as she could get to you. The rest of your room was shrouded in darkness, the curtains drawn shut to give you both a better sense of privacy. Polypa had arranged the pile to be on the far side of your room between the wall and your bed, the door shut and locked on the other side. Your little corner was secure and close to a vent that was providing plenty of heat for the both of you. Warm and content your mind drifted from one thought to the next. You’d missed this, the easy way you and Polypa coexisted when it was just the two of you. Ever since the reset and getting back your memories you’d been searching for your friends. You’d finally found them after two years of constant vigilance. This new shared world had been a blessing and though it still proved to have its fair share of problems you couldn’t help but to be grateful. It had given you your friends back. All of them safe and sound in a world less harsher than the one they remembered. You smiled to remember how you’d found Polypa. Despite all the places you had looked you’d ran into her at the mall of all things. You had both made fools of yourself crying all over each other and clinging to the point an employee had to ask you both to take it somewhere else. That had been a year ago. Since then the two of you spent as much time as you could with each other, most of those early days had been getting to know each other again- reassuring each other that your relationship was still there. Even now there were times that you had to reassure each other that the other was there. Things weren’t easy. They never had been. Between the two of you and the things this world like to throw at you trouble was a familiar companion. But the two of you were finding your rhythm and learning together how to survive and thrive. This world wasn’t exactly kind, there were things that kept you up at night, made you sick to your stomach. Problems from your world carried over to this one and the problems on Alternia had also settled here. Some problems had been dealt away with, had to be in order to coexist, but others only amplified. There were people out there that didn’t understand your relationship with Polypa- that openly scorned it. Sometimes it made you wonder if your moirail would be better off without you.

Running a hand through Polypa’s hair you sighed. You deserved to be selfish, at least in this regard. Polypa was your moirail and no one could take her away from you. Pressing a soft kiss to her forehead you settled fully against her. It was far too late in the night- or rather far too early in the morning- for these thoughts. A clawed hand gently pressed against your cheek as Polypa’s eyes cracked open a sliver. Warm and understanding as she gazed at you.

“Sleep.”

And you slept.

Home pt. 2

(Part 2 of the Home series.)

Dead on your feet did not describe you at that moment. You were well past that mark, swaying ever so slightly as you stood, at this time of night the store was almost dead. Only a few other people were milling about, most of which were nocturnal. At the moment you stood in the hardware aisle. You needed more bathroom tiles. Luckily it was only a small spot but you wanted it done before any water damage could set in. But the tiles you needed were out of reach on the top shelf. You had told your parents you were stopping at the store for a new shaving razor- and you were- but your main reason was the tile. It would take away from your fridge budget but even so all you needed was one more check. The thought of having such a big part of your renovations done had put you in such a chipper mood you hadn’t even complained about the double shift one of your bosses had forced on you. Though now you were beginning to see a problem. It was going to be dangerous climbing up the shelves in this state but you needed those tiles.

“(Y/N)!” A voice called out causing you to jump from surprise. Azar stood at the other end of the aisle with a basket hanging neatly from one arm. He looked just as surprised to see you as you were to see him.

“Azar? Hey.” You smiled tiredly. The surprise melted to concern the closer he came to you. It might have been the bags under your eyes.

“Are you alright?” He asked, his antennae flicked about in concern. For a moment you found it incredibly endearing- and distracting.

“Yeah just a double shift y’know?” Your laugh sounded only slightly defeated. Azar frowned and grabbed the tiles you had been staring at.

“Is this all you needed?”

“Yes, thank you.”

“You can thank me by letting me take you home. There is no way you can drive in your state.”

“I walked-,”

“Even more concerning. Just let me do this alright? I’ll sleep better knowing you didn't pass out on the sidewalk or got jumped on the way home.”

You bit your lip. On one hand you didn’t want to walk home. He had valid points on that front. But on the other you knew your parents would throw an absolute fit if they saw him.

“Listen Azar, I’d love that but-,”

“No buts. I am going to take you home.”

“Yeah, okay, but-,”

“(Y/N). If the thought of me knowing where you live makes you uncomfortable I’m alright dropping you at the end of your street. I just don’t want you to walk all the way home when you are clearly exhausted.”

“It’s not that Azar,” You sighed, shoulder’s slumping, “It’s my parents. They’re very... Traditional.”

You could see the moment he realized what you meant. At first his face went carefully blank and then his whole body went taut with what you assumed was anger.

“So you have to sneak around behind their backs? That is no way to live!”

“I know but I’m working on it. They already kicked out my sister, she was lucky she had a fiancée she was already semi-living with.”

“Do you have a place to go if they do kick you out?”

“Sort of?” You dragged out sheepishly. Azar sighed.

“I won’t pry. Just know that if push comes to shove you can stay at my place for as long as it takes to get back on your feet.”

You stared at him stunned. Was he really willing to do that for you? It nearly made you cry with relief at having a plan b that didn’t involve crashing with your sister and her wife. Instead you simply nodded and allowed him to lead you towards the check out. The cashier raised a brow at the two of you but didn’t ask questions, just rang you both up and sent you on your merry way.

Azar dropped you off two houses down from your own, waiting until you had given a wave from your doorstep before he drove off. Fortunately it seemed your parents were fast asleep and you happily snuck up to your room. Closing the door softly you pulled out the tile and stuffed it into the bottom of your hiking bag. The less questions the better. Next week was pay week and the thought followed you to bed. Next week was the break you needed. Soon you’d have a fridge to stock and the only major purchase you’d have to make after that was the bed. Everything else could simply be moved. Your parents couldn’t have you arrested for theft if you only took what you had bought in the first place. Yes, once you had the fridge and the bed you’d be home free.

Marvus Xoloto x Reader

You first saw him again on TV of all things. Some nameless talk show that played so late at night it could almost be considered early morning. You wouldn’t have paid it any mind- just simple white noise as you tried to convince your body to just sleep. Of course, sleep was made impossible when you registered exactly who was on your shitty little TV. Wide awake and in disbelief you watched Marvus go through those familiar routines you’d come to expect from him a life time ago. He was selling his act so well you knew that the reviews would be a never ending loop of praise. It wasn’t at all surprising of him and you found yourself smiling as fragments of old memories floated to the surface. Knowing him he’d collapse on the first vaguely soft surface he found and sleep well into the afternoon before his PR team blew up his phone. The thought finally drew you into action. Pulling out your phone you opened up Chittr for the first time in a long time and set about finding Marvus. It wasn’t hard. Finding a celebrity was always the easy part. Shooting off a friend request you hoped he’d see it. With luck he might realize it was you and accept. You didn’t bother with anything else as you turned off the TV. It wasn’t helping you sleep and Marvus wouldn’t see your request until the weekend if at all. Trudging from the couch to your bed you contemplated texting Polypa. She was always ready to talk with you when you couldn’t sleep. It was tempting- especially if she felt like sneaking into your house to spend time with you. She never asked for an invite, always just showing up on your couch or already in your bed. A long time ago you might have been put out by that. But it was a long time ago for a reason. Now you were used to the casual breaking and entering she did. You’d offered to let her live with you but she’d told you that she hadn’t wanted anything in her job leading back to you. It didn’t surprise you that she was still an assassin even on Earth. She was good at what she did.

Flopping down onto your bed you let your phone drop onto the mattress with you. Sleep was slow coming but it was coming. Finally. Eyes closing you could feel your body start to sink further into sleep like a rock in water. Which was, of course, the moment your phone buzzed with a notification. Snatching it up off the bed you glared blurry eyed down at it until your sight finally focused.

Marvus accepted your friend request!

Oh, well then. It looked as if things were looking up. With a smile you set your phone back down and closed your eyes. Your phone buzzed again and figuring it might be Marvus you picked it back up.

Zebruh sent you a friend request!

Oh hell no.

Can we see what happens when Marvus does get there after the tweet?

You got it! I'll upload a part two sometime today! Thank you for the request.
