Some people seem to be under the impression that Gerald Robotnik is being portrayed as Ivo's father instead of his grandfather, which appears to be based on one of Jim Carrey's lines in the trailer being misheard.

Some people (including me at first) heard it as "Papa?", but after listening to it a few more times, it sounds more like he's saying "Pop pop?", which tends to be a nickname associated more with grandfathers.

Plus, the Japanese dub of the trailer does use a term that means "grandfather".
