More progress on Nurglitch..
Both the plague lord himself and his steed have been finished.

Still need to paint his lil buddy Bilios and give them a proper fancy base as the one I’ve been using so far really doesn’t do them justice.

They’ve been good practice for the pallid sickly look i want for the skin of my pestilent clergy and their crazed followers.

Happy Pride Month!
Faust the Crow loves you even more than she did the last 2 years!
I couldn’t wait to paint this one. This is the new model for my necromunda gang leader. Converted from a blissful one, I’m really happy with how he’s turned out.
Not the best light for taking pictures but ill get some better ones once I’m done with the rest of the heretics.

His name is Lakalom the pilgrim, he is not the first to bear the name nor will he be the last. It is said that those who take on the name will begin to act more like him for every day that passes and even claiming to be the very one who crossed the ash wastes on foot in search of the gifts offered by the great pyre.

I had this idea of making some of the new heretics partially flayed as they take the redemptionist beleif in purification through pain and twisted it to perfection through pain.

I absolutely love the designs of the unmade and knew early on that I had to do something with them for this project. Had to change his pose a bit in order to even get him to fit on a 32mm base

He’s probably my favourite conversion so far. All the pieces came together without much struggle and painting him was really fun.

Here he is next to his old model. The old one was already too tall for some of the terrain we use and this glow up sure ain’t helping.
A bit more progress on my cultists.
Half of them still need a bit of work before I can start painting.

These first four were assembled before I’d gotten around to printing the new heads. Still lots of work left on these but they’re shaping up nicely.

I’m pretty happy with how the flayed bits are turning out.

The unmade and cawdor bits went together with relative ease so I didn’t have to do too much with green stuff

Four more ready for priming. The black resin and poor lighting really isn’t doing the printed parts any favours in these photos.

After messing around a bit with the heads in blender and printing a batch i could put a few more together, these four are the ones I’ve gotten to a point where i feel i can start slapping some paint on them.

I’m liking the variety added by the new heads and unmade bodies

They’re mostly equipped with pistols and sharp things as i needed some more bone pickers and zealots

When I first started making this cult I figured it’d be a small side project that maybe got a new model or two now and then. Since then it’s become one of my absolute favourite things to work on, I’ll look at completely unrelated models and start trying to figure out how I can turn them into something i can use for the cult.
Hopefully gonna have more pictures of this batch of conversions soon as I make more progress. There are also a few other models I’ve made for this cult that I haven’t showed yet so you can look forward to those as well.
One of the reblogs of my last post has inspired me to make a step by step walkthrough of how i painted the flesh of that spawn.
To start off the paints i use here are
Macragge blue spray (citadel)
Matt white (army painter)
Hive dweller purple (army painter)
Familiar pink (army painter)
Sigvald burgundy (citadel)
Kislev flesh (citadel)
Rakarth flesh (citadel)
Pallid wych flesh (citadel)
The fang (citadel)
Any of these can be replaced depending on what you’re going for and have access to, this list is only the paints i use in this post
Since i didn’t really take any good pictures of the progress on that spawn I needed a new specimen.

For this task i chose the executioner found in the dungeons and lasers npc miniature pack.

My usual first step when painting anything is a base of Macragge blue with a zenithal highlight.
A zenithal is not necessary for this technique as it’ll get covered up anyway but it does provide some nice guidelines for lighting

Once the base coat is on I hit all the flesh with a dark burgundy. I used my airbrush because i have one and but this step can be done perfectly well with a traditional brush.
For this step I mixed Hive dweller purple and familiar pink from the speed paints range until i had something that looked about right.

Now comes the fun part, starting with a mix of Sigvald burgundy and Kislev flesh i went over the muscles keeping the direction of the light in mind and leaving the undersides of the muscles alone

I then worked my way up mixing in less burgundy for each layer until my brush only contained Kislev flesh

Next i highlighted further with Rakarth flesh and did the brightest spots with pallid wych flesh

Finally I went in and glazed a the undersides of the muscles with The fang
Painting skin like this takes quite a while but it’s generally pretty satisfying the whole way through. While I doubt I’d be mad enough to paint an entire army like this it really is a fun way to make skin really pop on smaller projects.
Thank you to @happyhyenaminis for inspiring me to make this post.
