Thank you for signing onto this open letter to stop KOSA and ensure the privacy, online safety, and physical, digital, and mental wellbeing

this is a form to send a letter to stop KOSA, the Kids Online Safety Act. KOSA, despite the name, will make the internet much more dangerous. it is unconstitutional. Lawmakers have reintroduced the Kids Online Safety Act (KOSA), a dangerous censorship bill that would give the government unprecedented control over the internet. KOSA won’t make kids more safe. Instead, it’ll put youth in danger by preventing them from accessing resources they need. Lawmakers concerned about online safety should reject KOSA and instead work to protect all internet users from abusive tech companies by passing a Federal data privacy law. pleas, fill out the form, and send it in. we cannot let KOSA pass.

So, Kosa is almost certainly going to pass the Senate, almost entirely just as bad and censorious as it ever was, but, that just means we need to take the fight to The House of Representatives, because that's where it's going now.

So, find your reps' numbers here and call them ASAP.

And this is bipartisan too, it's not just the Dems that might be swayed against this due to the well documented threats to LGBTQ people it presents, I'm sure even the right-wingers would not be happy to sign on a bill that's likely to lead to government-mandated facial scans for everyone using the net., along with the encroachment of actual big-government on our freedom of speech.

Good news! Kosa isn't being introduced to the senate until March 13-16,

so my American friends, PLEASE for the love of god call your reps and tell them you don't want this shit to pass because this bill is gonna fuck up the internet as we know it and the majority of us that use the internet can't do shit because we're not American

For when the senate specifically will look at the kosa bill and other bills/other stuff, use this Committee Schedule for 02/27/2024 | Congress.gov | Library of Congress link. Kosa was supposed to be deliberated on 27, but there is no schedule with it on, so it was definitely pushed back, though the actual time of when it will be deliberated is so far unknown.

KOSA will not require your government ID. It's still a terrible bill that can be used to hide useful information for abuse victims and queer kids but it will not require your ID. It doesn't mention anywhere requiring your government ID

please actually know what the bill says before posting about it,
