Last line tag! As done by @mysticstarlightduck (thank you very much!), and open to anyone who sees this, here's the last little bit I wrote for Project Task Master:

Master Caricus rushed to get behind me, his arms held out in case I fell, which I shamefully did. Though he shook with an anger I did not understand he was trying to represss it as he replied, "Never do that again, not until you're healed."

His desperation for power and fear of being betrayed had warped him, and she - a wayward fool - failed to see it, until her enemies had her cousin's mind wrapped around their finger. Until Ahren's dagger was at her back, held by the same hands that had once sworn to protect her.
