Okay but thinking of comforting yuji makes me so soft. Like he would be all distraught and immediately would feel comfortable and safe enough with you. To finally give sweet sunshine boy a place to talk and vent HE DESERVES IT😭💕 I just want him to be safe and loved in this essay I-

Omg what are you doing to me? Poor baby Yuuji! It breaks my heart anytime I see him suffering and blaming himself. Ok, imagine:

Yuuji comes back from his mission, and you can tell immediately that something is very wrong. Your heart clenches painfully when you see him staring off into space, lost in his thoughts, the usual sparkle in his honey eyes missing. And the worst thing is that Yuuji is hugging himself. He's standing there, holding himself looking so lonely and broken, and it's just not fair that someone as kind and selfless as him is looking so lost.

You quickly abandon what you are doing to cross the room until you're standing in front of him. He was so lost in his own mind that he didn't even see you until now. But now he's looking at you, with a haunted expression on his pretty face, eyes silently begging you to do something.

"Yuu, what's wrong?"

He isn't even able to say anything, but you see his eyes becoming shiny with tears, and that's when you reach out and wrap your arms around him.

You feel him melt against you instantly, his arms coming around you too, and he's clinging to you desperately as if you are his lifeline.

You hold him tightly, stroking his back in soothing circles and whispering to him that it's ok. You feel some of the tension leaving him as he slumps against you, almost making you fall because he's so heavy. But he needs this, needs you and the comfort your embrace brings, and you give it to him willingly.

It's heartbreaking because Yuuji buries his face into the crook of your neck, and you hear a pained sob and feel his hot tears against your skin.

He mumbles into your neck, tells you about what happened on the mission. "I had to... I killed them... I can't take this anymore, all the pain and the death. It's not right. All of those bad things happen because of me."

"It isn't your fault, Yuuji. You aren't a murderer. You did what you had to do. You did it to protect someone else, right?"

You keep on reassuring him and petting his hair and holding him until he's calmed down enough to look at you and ask you:

"Do you really think I'm a good person?"

"Of course you are. You are the best person I know. You're so kind and always put others first. I know that you would never hurt anyone who didn't deserve it. And you always do your best to save others."

You can see the light coming back to his eyes before he pulls you into another embrace, holding you so tightly that it's hard for you to breathe. But it's ok because Yuuji is feeling better and you are glad that you can help him.

He doesn't want to let go of you the whole evening, and he doesn't have to. So you make sure to spend a lazy evening with him in bed where you re-watch his favorite movies. Only funny ones, though, so he won't get sad again!

Yuuji snuggles against you, resting his head on your chest and sighing happily when you run your fingers through his soft pink hair and keep telling him how sweet he is and how kind and brave and just so so good.

You give him all the reassurance and comfort that he needs. You show him that he is worthy of love and affection. Because that's something, Yuuji can't quite grasp. But you are making it your top priority to always make him feel loved and safe, and you can tell that it's working by the way Yuuji is smiling his sunshine smile again and doing his stupid little impersonations of the characters on the tv screen.

Later that night, when you are both about to fall asleep, cuddled up comfortably with Yuuji's head tugged under your chin and your arms wrapped safely around him, Yuuji quietly thanks you for being there for him. And he knows that you'll be here all night even when the nightmares come to haunt him. You will be there to hold him and kiss him and make him feel loved, and that gives him such a warm feeling.
