Living with your Indian mother in your twenties is a love-hate relationship. While she only understands your academic validation and ambitions, but can't beat the pressure of her generational trauma. You understand her struggles but can also feel the unrequired pressure on your back.

She has her own version of happiness and thinks it is suitable for you. At that point, she starts to knowingly or unknowingly forcefully put it on you, often forgetting your happiness and ambitions.

You too start noticing the pain and pressure the family and society inflicted on her. You start getting mature because even though you want to make her happy, you also have to be your own person. You have to be strong-headed in your words to get out of the vicious cycle.

In this, you become a little selfish, rude and disrespectful to achieve your goals and she becomes more understanding and resilient towards you. Its like you start a new rebel, and break generational oppressions while she retains some of it and reconsiders the others.

i'll call it a happy-sad phase.
