something i don’t think a lot of people (and by that i mean anyone who’s not a swiftie) realize is that what ever era you are isn’t necessarily the era you were introduced to her music but what album you listened to on your own without anyone else, the one where you heard it and didn’t (only) jam tf out but listed to the lyrics and felt it.

like yea me and my mom will always have debut and fearless, they were hers though, she shared them with me but debut and fearless were her favorites not mine. she loves country and got to see her in concert during debut (WHICH I AM JEALOUS ABOUT >:(!!) she doesn’t really listen to any other albums because at the end of the day she wasn’t taylor’s target demographic, she was in her 30s with a baby and all of taylor’s songs at the time we’re about teen love.

red is mine (i didn’t get to listen to speak now because at a young age my mom could tell how i was going to play that cd on rinse repeat and she’d already gone through that with the diamond castle and was not eager to expirence that again so i missed out on speak now😔) i can remember getting it for christmas on cd with a black ipod shuffle and hello kitty headphones in 2012. i remember standing over my moms shoulder while she put the album and the rest of her itunes library on it. i remember listening to the lucky one on repeat for SIX HOURS when i was at my dads house and him letting me play it through the aux on the way back to my moms.

my dads favorite color is red so he’d let me play it whenever we were in the car, he even got it on his sirius stiletto, and he’d keep the radio on when 1989 came out, but he didn’t love her music, he loved me. i shared red and 1989 with him but he LOVES reputation. his favorites are delicate and gorgeous (his favorite part is the little ding after “you’ve ruined my life by not being mine’) once rep came out of was not a question of ‘if’ or ‘when’ i could play taylor swift, it was ‘what song do i play’. midnights came out about a month before i went to visit my dad for thanksgiving and i made sure he didn’t know so i could see his reaction to it and he was jokingly upset because he ‘could’ve had more taylor a month ago!’

i’m going out to see him soon and i’m gonna show him folklore and evermore a bit more in-depth than just playing them (he loves a good story and i’m like quality control for most music lol) i’ve also gotten him and my brother invested in the ‘lost era’ karma (if it does ever come out i think my dad will LOVE it, so taylor if you could release it so i could dream the lyric with my dad to annoy my brother that would be pretty cool) and all the hints she’s been dropping and such

anyway i just want to thank taylor swift for being the music industry and creating a lot of very vital childhood memories for me when i felt very much alone :)
