I always feel like intruding when I look at pictures of them, but gee were they sweet together. 🥺
Art Garfunkel and Laurie Bird dancing, january 1979✨

found on getty images✨
"Art Garfunkel was the magic."
"Their relationship was pure magic, and it reflects in their discography—and in their solo discographies, when all their magic was gone."
Louder for the people in the back.
I can't even begin to describe how much I agree on this. I find Artie's solo works more soothing for, therefore listen to his songs more often than Paul's, the point remains: as beautiful as their solo efforts can be, they lack that special magic they managed to create together.
my guitar teacher was complaining about art garfunkel not contributing anything. he doesnt even know he was the muse
Cuties are cute.

Been crafting for him today, coming in here and finding this felt rather appropriate. ✨

Honest unwanted opinion nobody cares about. Disclaimer: I'm not thinking of the OPs when writing this, not at all, just using their material for a general thought I feel like sharing.
Right, here we go.
These interviews were crazy, this and the Napoleon one. That's probably the reason why they somehow seem to stick to people's mind more than others, in which maybe a witty/bitter comment was made alright, but that are in general much better.
I'm tired to see how the Napoleon episode particularly led to Artie being labelled as The Jerk Of The Duo ™ - don't get me wrong, he sure is a jerk. Point is, they both are, always were and always will be. I'll never buy the "Poor Paul" philosophy, he did and said his right amount of shit as well through the years - and that's perfectly normal for him, because as I said, they're both jerks.
And that's not to deny the strong bond between them either, I'm more than sure love (whatever kind) was there, probably still is, no matter what.
I'd just like more people to remember that jerkiness was all around. Maybe some day I'll take the time to write an essay on this matter.
PS : just sayin', when the Napoleon one was published I had been a fan of these idiots for about 15 years, so I wasn't new to their history or their remarks or whatever. I remember having a good laugh at it, as I laugh at most of the things these two idiots said about each other through the years. Cringe? Yeah. Crucifige? Nah.

UNHINGED—and the fact that this was just four months after he called Paul a monster and a jerk with a Napoleon complex?? You could’ve just said sorry, Art.
