Set has always been a name that comes to me when change is required. Not easy change usually. It can be in difficult times, in growth or in destruction. He doesn’t open doors for me, he takes the door down and removes it from this reality. 

I started this piece because I had an urge to try my hand at painting on a wood board. Painting and drawing like this have been hobbies that I left behind many years ago, so it’s an old friend to rediscover them. And funny enough, the moment that I finished, a door was removed from a problem I’d been facing and opened up solutions that are honestly a huge relief for us financially and mentally.  It’s still not easy, but the way is there. As is His way always.  Dua Set!

The Joshua tree is on its way to extinction because so-called green energy companies want to keep the death machine of civilization going by installing large swaths of solar panels over the desert floor, a big metal blanket that will kill everything it covers: the desert tortoise, the sage grouse, the hawks and snakes and beautiful flowers that have flourished for thousands of years. Gone. Gone.

All so that we can keep the dead heart in the rotting corpse of industrial civilization beating into the next decade. These are the "good guys" btw, these are the "renewable" "carbon neutral" options: covering the desert in miles of metal and microchips until every living being without a bank account is dead.

Removing Artie from the equation leaves you with what, the PS Songbook? Great material in there, but really? Even comparing it to Wednesday Morning, which was as unplugged and unsuccessful in terms of (immediate) sales, I dare to say that those songs sound better together. There's just something more to them. Some are the same songs, but they seem like something completely different. When sung together, those songs take you through the universe and back. As solo numbers they're interesting stuff alright, but lack the... magic, there, I said it.

A creative partnership allows you to bring the best out of each other, and I'm sorry so many people these days just don't see that's exactly what they did when they worked together.

So yeah, of course, thank you Paul for conceiving the songs, but thank you Artie for giving them life. And thank you both for the marvelous gifts you gave us, by joining your talents, the both of you.
