As a sequel to @allinsideyourhead’s recent post about Art throwing his back out laughing, here is another gem of a cancelled show story. Some accounts say that that London show was in fact cancelled because Art was actually too ill to sing…Paul’s biography, however, offers a more amusing story. Also dying to know what happened at the hospital—did he just trip or was there some dramatic fainting incident 💀

So many interviewers from this era seemed to assume any form of introspective and meaningful songwriting couldn’t possibly coexist with any level of lightheartedness or laughter within a person… The idea that people could..do both? Absolutely not. Inconceivable! Did the line “I never laughed so long” go straight over this guy’s head? Anyway, the image of Art putting his back out through uncontrollable laughter is too amusing.
