6 of Crows Christmas Headcanons

- Wylan wants to make sure that everything is perfect because Kaz never got a chance to experience a “real” Christmas and Inej’s family didn’t celebrate it

- Kaz “grudgingly” makes hot chocolate just like Jordie used to make them when they had extra cash

- Kaz is incredibly protective of Wylan (he won’t admit it he continues to give him shit as normal) and wants everything to go perfectly because he can tell that Wylan’s biggest wish is to be loved for who he is

- Snowball fights ft. the Crew

- Inej inexplicably never gets hit even if the other 5 all aim for her

- Matthias always ends up taking snowballs for Nina

- Nina introducing the crew to traditional Ravkan holiday food and Matthias manages to get some Fjerdian liquor

- Wylan sets up an advent calendar for the rest of the crew to do together. Some days it has riddles that lead to prizes, some days it has candies

- On the 24th, the advent calendar clue reads “up the chimeny with care” 

- Inej climbs the chimeny and brings down a wrapped package. They unwrap it together to reveal a painting of the six of them because they’re all Wylan’s family now

- Matthias dressed as a Christmas tree (it’s Nina’s fault)

- Kaz in reindeer antlers

- Kaz somehow gets a full-sized pine-tree into The Crow Club. No one knows how or where he got it

- Jesper sets up mistletoes in random parts of The Crow Club. Somehow Kaz knows where they all are and avoids them like the plague

- Nina tailoring ugly sweaters for everyone 

- They all go Christmas tree shopping together and buy the biggest tree they possibly can for Wylan’s inherited mansion

- Decorating said tree proves to be difficult

- Their Christmas tree is decorated with a mixture of extremely expensive ornaments that Kaz and Wylan bought and homemade ornaments that Nina and Jesper insisted everyone make

- Nina helps everyone bake cookies to leave out for Santa that evening

- Cue a giant food fight 

- They make a huge mess but the cookies turn out okay

- All the crows get dressed up in fancy clothing for a nice dinner on Christmas Eve at Wylan’s

- Jesper wears a red bow tie with Christmas trees on it much to everyone’s amusement

- They all sleep at Wylan’s house that night

- Nina wakes everyone up at 6 am shouting about Christmas. 

- To everyone but Kaz’s surprise the cookies they left out for santa are gone. Aka Kaz got up in the middle of the night and ate the cookies so that it would seem like Santa had come to the house.

anyone wanna talk abt how nina and kuwei absolutely remain close friends to this day and visit each other in ravka regularly because i know in my heart this is true

nina gets what it’s like to be on your own in a foreign country trying to accomplish a seemingly-impossible task, and having her check in every so often is a huge help for kuwei settling into his new life there

they’re the most multilingual of all their friends and bond over this.  nina doesn’t get many opportunities to practice shu even though she speaks it fluently, and although kuwei speaks passable ravkan, he improves a lot faster from speaking to nina without the added pressure of having to do anything other than talk.

both of them religiously pick up bits of gossip and remember all of it and have at least an hour sharing all of it every time they meet (mostly nina.  kuwei likes keeping things to himself so he can use it if he ever has to.  but sometimes he’ll tell her something and nina’s eyes go wide because there’s no way kuwei should know that.)  between the two of them, they know what’s going on with everyone at any given time and have also been known to discuss this in earshot of whoever they’re talking about by switching languages so nobody can prove it

when inej comes to visit nina, the three of them go for waffles.  afterwards, inej and nina take turns teaching each other the rowdiest sea shanties they know and kuwei looks on with a mixture of confusion, amusement, and horror, because neither of them can carry a tune and there are some lyrics he wishes he didn’t understand.  (he’s totally memorising them for later, though.)  they’re so happy and enthusiastic about it that after a while it’s hard not to give up and laugh

both of them also know what it’s like to lose someone you care about and to have to move on and make a life for yourself regardless.  it’s not something either of them talks about a lot but sometimes, a good number of years in the future, they will.  nina tells him about matthias, about the future they were going to make together and how they were going to change the world.  the work she’s still trying to do on her own.  the promise she made to try and help the younger drüskelle who could become something more, like matthias did.  kuwei doesn’t need to say a lot to that, mostly just listens, but he’s seen how much nina’s accomplished in the years since the ice court job and matthias’ death and all of the good she’s done.  

he especially doesn’t have a lot to say about his life before fjerda and ketterdam, not a lot of it is things he wants to remember, but he was close with his father even if their relationship wasn’t perfect and sometimes there’s something to say about that.  about how it might have been better for the world if it was his father who survived shu han, how kuwei could have done something to help them escape if it wouldn’t have exposed him as a grisha to the fjerdans.  i could have brought matthias back, nina says quietly.  i almost did.  sometimes letting go is better.  

the potential with these two is honestly so underrated and i feel like we as people need to talk about it more

bonus:

nina: wake up, i have a huuuuge dilemma i need your opinion on!  

kuwei: what?  

nina: am i more beautiful today than i was yesterday?  i mean at first i looked in the mirror and i thought well, yes, definitely, huge improvement–  

kuwei: can i have my pillow back?  

nina: –but then i thought maybe it’s not that i’m more beautiful today, maybe i was just as beautiful yesterday but i lacked the self-esteem to recognise it!  

kuwei: don’t take this personally but get out

- When Wylan meets Kaz he’s immediately infatuated by Kaz’s ability to give no shits about what other people think

- Kaz always went out of his way to make sure to tell Wylan that he was wanted and valued even before they dated

- Wylan was horrible at hiding the fact he thought Kaz was hot like the boy would be blushing every time Kaz got near him.

- Wylan tries to subtly flirt. Emphasis on trying. He is not subtle. Kaz doesn’t mind though.

- Kaz is actually the one to make the first move after a month of Wylan’s horribly disguised flirting

- The constantly play with each other’s hair, Kaz likes playing with Wylan’s wild curls and Wylan likes to style Kaz’s hair in different ways

- Wylan is the only person who can play music Kaz will actually actively listen to. Plus, Kaz thinks it’s sexy when Wylan’s holding an instrument

- On Wylan’s birthday Kaz steals/bribes an entire chemistry lab for the Van Eck manor

- They also totally have matching rings. Kaz totally didn’t steal said rings.

- 1AM walks on the docks when one of them has a nightmare and can’t go back to sleep

- Wylan likes to practice painting Kaz

- Kaz is incredibly protective of Wylan everyone in Ketterdam knows not to mess with Wylan or a hoard of Dregs will be knocking at their door, a very angry Kaz leading them. Basically Wylan is (mostly) a cinnamon roll and Kaz will murder anyone who so much as glances at him the wrong way

- Kaz would pickpocket the entire world for Wylan and Wylan would blow up the entire world for Kaz

- Dates usually end in cuddles and occasionally fireworks ;)

- Wylan teaching Kaz how to cook something fancier than rice for dinner dates

- Early morning showers together

- The roofs of either the Van Eck Manor or Crow Club are their favorite spots. Even when they’re not talking they can still sense each other’s emotions
