*Hypothetically*, if i were to write this scene an emotional background song.

I would make donnie talking like a synth piano on the background getting closer in a major key, while the main theme being something with a viola, cello and violin (maybe a harp or a classical guitar as backup) in minor key.

The Leo melody would be roughly the same used in this scene ⬇

Except a lot more quietly with the focus on the viola, something akin to like loneliness. Just to add, in this same scene, the melody would never go into the base note of the minor scale, always leaving it open to see if Donnie would answer.

Anyways, in the actual cool spirit song. The melody would divert from that initial theme with more instruments, and the melody would get closer to the base note while the synth gets louder. And right before Donnie pulls Leo out of the spiritual water, the melody changes key, in the 2nd or 3rd note of the scale im not sure which one fits best, to major probably like a three of Donnie's to help with the whole "two people one soul" kinda vibe we getting.

Getting off topic, in the moment Donnie pulls Leo out, we get like a slowmo shot while only the viola is present in the major key and it does the initial melody while Donnie answers with his counterpart melody before all the instruments go back again to chaos and it drifts off in a melody together still with the piano synth supporting the viola as they fall to the real world where Leo awakes with the base note of Donnie's scale with the sound of a viola!!!

Though i gotta add, it the climax of the joined melody is NOT melodic!! Its frantic and hopeless and very much not agreeing with each other on this!! They just have naturally complementing scales which turn this into something pleasant to hear and not nonsensical gibberish.

For the base rhythm tho imagine something like Leo's melody on a very strict 4/4 and Donnie's in a 12/8. I think it would be really funny to give Donnie a really annoying time signature, like if an orchestra were to play his theme no one would be having a good time in practice. (only at first tho)

Is this a dream? Is this Leo's subconscious? Is it a magical limbo for lost souls? Don't ask me, it could be all of them at once.

I just read something that will emotionally scar me forever that has filled me with a feeling so deep of deceit and betrayal and the depression of a brokenheart and whole relationship built on a lie that will never compare to anything I will ever read again.

And you know why that works? Because most of the times when a character is lying to another while in a relationship with each other, we get to see that characters's pov even for a little and we know he is lying.

I didn't. I didnt know. And when he did confess he was lying, it was in such way of pure built in lies, it wasnt in "i got sent to kill you but i changed my mind", it was "i lied to you about everything, the experiences i had that i opened up as my traumatic past were fake, i am an actor" and made me had a visceral reaction of pure shock, then anger as the betrayed character yelled hatred towards him, then so much depression, as the character fell into a state of apathy for 2 weeks before finally kicking himself up again and going like a lunatic everywhere to find him.

And it ended on a very nice note, but the pure agony that i felt, i know i will never feel again.

You know what the craziest part of all this (for me) is? They already have their reunion scene. The pages where Leo sees his twin again are already drawn and I'm going crazy because every update brings me closer to when I can finally post them
